      Dude, I was born in Minnesota and lived in the area where Bob Dylan grew up.
      And it was common knowledge Bob and even his family members talked about the slavery contracts that they sign And you think he got it bad?
      The black artist are Pimped even worse than that They Get a car And some Jewelry and most likely they're gonna get billed for that too Maybe 1 or 2 artists sign a good contract and thats out of all of them.
      Even if you have a lawyer they still end up working together to fuck you over.
      Kanye has Figured out the way to do it right And still retain the rights to your music and still make most of the money too.
      In the process, he figured out what it takes to avoid the Record labels.
      Like Master P said. You gotta do everything for yourself. Once they figure out that you know what you're doing, Then you might get offered a good contact because they know That if they don't play ball they won't get anything. That's how Master P got his 80/20 deal. But I saw a interview with him where he was talking about what he has to do as part of his 80%. Basically all they do is distribute the music and Everything else Fall under the responsibilities of the artist, so they get 20% of your money.And they only do one thing I'd rather have their Deal.
      The rest of these artists make 0 money off of their own music.
      All they make money off of is the Touring If they're lucky!!
      If you really have love for these artists. Then we are the ones that have to speak up That's how Dave Chappelle got his shit straight he went straight to his loyal fans!
      If they don't like what's going on and they don't buy the music.
      Then the record companies won't make anything at all.
      Dave chappelle said the fans are my real bosses not the record label.

      Your right, but look at Jay Z he’s independent & filthy rich and he’s in the Illuminati snd sold his soul & took Beyoncé with him , when she first started becoming famous she was a Christian woman who gave all her hard work and success to GOD , then the industry got her now & im sure Jay Z manipulated her. Like her one song she sang I can’t remember the name but in the music video she says how she take the pages of the Bible and use it as a tampon, like u can see her worshiping the devil and the pages of the Bible being torn and destroyed in the water . The Beyoncé that first started to become famous Gave GOD all the glory… the Beyoncé now definitely not the same woman . It’s so sad

    1:14 these artists keep getting caught in these traps bc 1) they're poor and desperate 2) they want fame and fast money more than the journey it takes to get a loyal following. Many of these celebrities usually come from poor backgrounds and rough childhoods. That's the perfect candidate into stardom bc their desperation to be admired and have money that they've never seen will make them do anything in the industry. Even if it means to willingly pimp themselves out and sell their souls.

    @SpiritualTraveler888 Před měsícem +2

    Same thing they did to Elvis!

  • @CyrusAugustus
    @CyrusAugustus Před 17 dny

    The important part they're missing is that the label starts taking their majority cut of the profits from day/dollar 1... so you have to pay off the loan or "recoup" out of your small percentage of the profits, (rather than every dollar of profit going directly to recouping first, THEN the profit splits kicking in, which is how it should be since technically there ARE NO PROFITS until the project/venture has paid for it's own costs).
    So they're taking most of the money from day 1, giving you scraps, and you're supposed to somehow support the lifestyle and level of production/work/etc. they expect, (which all costs exorbitant amounts of money btw... even as an indie artist the costs of making, releasing, and marketing high value music are absolutely mind-blowing); AND still be able to literally pay off a multi-million dollar loan, with interest, probably high interest... and you're like wtf I didn't even SEE any of that money, I went over-budget and can barely survive, I can't afford this lifestyle, wait, how big are the payments on a $4M loan anyway??? 🤔
    It ends up being a situation where you will never reasonably be able to expect to even pay them off in your lifetime unless you do 1 of 2 things....
    1: make them another album to pay off the last one, and keep living off whatever they let you make on the side, and so on, presumably in perpetuity, until they're done with you...
    2: somehow get out of your deal at some point (*released from contract), and into a better one, or go independent and continue succeeding on a high level without the machine... so you can start making real money and pay your original label off completely... or your new label pays them off to release you... then you'd have to pay for THAT too in your new deal I'd imagine, one way or another.
    What ends up happening is usually the 1st one... for years and sometimes decades, where the artist is forever indebted to the label and has to keep making them more product in order to keep the ride going.
    Fuck the labels, stay independent, move towards direct to consumer... we need our own music industry, the people's music industry 🙏 💯💯💯
    All these MF's gotta go! 😂

    Tom Macdonald is independent and warns the next generation of musicians the warning not to sign their lives away. You should check out his song "Music industry" either on your channel or on your own. He is very good!!!

    I don’t think that the record companies can get away with this as easy as back in the day. However a lot of musicians such as TLC were young and naive. It’s best to get an attorney to look over the contracts. Just ask ICE CUBE!!!!!

    Most people apply these tales to the music and movie industries. But in all walks of life/business this stuff goes on. As a former Exec on Wall Street I have seen and been invited to events that make similar offers. To the disbelief of many I stayed with making 6 figures instead of 7-8-9 figures. The issue is greed and most have no idea how money works so they believe they “need” a million when what they truly have is a want covering up a lifetime of poverty. Becoming financial literate could avoid all of these traps. Because without it, it’s just too easy to size any of us up.

    Not mention, once you sign, you have to keep working. You're literally a slave to the label.

  • @ragnhildurhsigurardottir6744

    Just think about it. Taylor Swift´s dad bought a stake in a record company to help her early carrier. I think this is super important for her not to be exploited, terrorized and damaged while emerging to the fabulous artist she is. By doing this he made the world a service. It also makes me realize how much talent has been lost because of the record companies and people like Sean Combs. How much talent wasted, lives lost and art that should have been made but got lost into the ether
