Hi Brandon and family. My husband Tony and I are visiting Bali, Kuta, for a holiday in October 2017. Basically I think you all are very cool, and I would love to get to know you sometime. My sons are suddenly becoming more independent, the eldest 18, younger 17. This can be a great opportunity to develop some of our own ideals, expanding upon our current dreams, now that we can get away for longer periods of time. I've lived overseas, doing school correspondence studies as a 16 year old teenager, as a volunteer with AVA (Australian Volunteers Abroad) and an idealist evolving deeply into that, in particular getting to know the locals, Ni Vanuatu, doing some work for them, and learnt the language, Bislama. I've lived in places such as P.N.G., Vanuatu. England, France/ Switzerland, Cambodia..Australia (NSW, Canberra, Tasmania. I then got married! I am living in Tasmania. We also have a "shack" in the Highlands, (where it snows in Winter), needing extensive renovations! I like to be self efficient! Let us know if you would like to catch up some time. Me and my Wife pretty much interested to live in Bali. I am a freelancer and working for a software company remotely. So travelling is an ideal thing for us. I visited once in Bali and it was amazing experience for us. I am just curious which VISA would be appropriate for people like me who do businesses online only.

Thank you for sharing. Bali is on my list for early retirement. You have a beautiful family. I love that your kids are so happy and are able to be kids :). Your home is awesome!!! Can you please explain more on the leasing. I’ve seen homes for $200k us / 25-30 year lease. Does that mean you own the house but the land is a 25-30 year lease? What about freehold homes? Do you homeschool your children? How is WiFi service and shipping to the states?

Yes, you own the house but are leasing the land. However, houses are not easy to move, so basically you're renting... Freehold is a possibility but only if you partner with an Indonesian.

Wifi is fiber optic in Ubud, and I think we usually have around 15mbps, although sometimes it will go down (or the power will). Shipping to the states must be through courier (FedEx/DHL), otherwise it may take months to arrive, if it even does.

Absolutely gorgeous home! I love nature, but how do you keep mosquitoes, snakes, lizards, poisonous spiders and other scary things out? Also, was wondering if there is a wall to close off the home from the backyard. It looks like there are only mats hanging as drapes. Your family is lovely. Blessings!
Great video, your home is so beautiful, I love the style! I'm curious about the insects though. I notice homes in Bali are totally open, don't you get a lot of bugs coming inside the house?
Yes, sometimes we do. The geckos help eat them, though. We had a bat for a while, who made messes each nice. It's a fun way to experience a bit more of nature. :)
Hey Brandon - Thanks for the information! I understand that bugs will generally have easy access to the inside of the villa, but I'm curious what you all do about mosquitoes? I've heard the mosquitoes are crazy in Bali, so is there some sort of conventional remedy used there to keep mosquitoes from getting inside and keep them at least a bit distant from the outside kitchen/living space of the villa?
We do have an electric mosquito zapper, but also we just use mosquito nets at night.

Do the insects bite? Are they a troublesome?
No, not really. The spiders aren't dangerous and mostly keep to themselves. Ants can be annoying if there are a lot of them, but there typically aren't unless we leave food out.

Brandon Pearce renting out your leased property as a foreigner without real estate business license on airbnb is illegal. So basically you commit crime, breach on your visa, and admitting it online. Seriously watch for immi officers knocking on your door soon. So many foreigners hot deported because of this very thing. And dont think your nominee will be able to save you either. Nominees are illegal too.
can I live as a pensioner in bali. on 1500 $ per month only.
More than enough. House rent $1500-2000/year. Meal $1.5-2/pax. Electricity $20-35/month. Water $10-15/month. Gas (Gasoline) $0.6/liter. Housemaid $100/month.

My pleasure. Btw, accommodation price in Bali is much-much cheaper than Jakarta or Singapore. You can get promotional tariff whether guesthouses or luxury hotels especially if you intend a long stay. My advice, book for 3-4 days and then you decide later if you wanna stay in one hotel or try different hotel. You can rent scooter for $5/day, car $20/day. Try Agoda/Booking dot com or AirBnb. Small hotel establishments may or may not listed, you can ask local people/tourist guide, they can give you right direction.

+bernard slonecki You are welcome, Sir. FYI, I don't know about iphone, but if you have an android phone, I suggest you to use Waze and Google Map apps. These apps quite popular, both will help you with traffic and navigation, importantly the Google Map will help you find popular tourist destinations you may like. Once in Bali, you may go to Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida, a one-hour trip by boat from Sanur Bali, or even fly to Lombok, another popular destination besides Bali. Wish you have a great vacation in Indonesia.

How do you earn your money ?
I have an online business: musicteachershelper.com. My wife is a coach: embracebeing.com. And we also rent this place out on Airbnb when we're gone, which brings in some income. :)
Brandon Pearce everything you do to make money in this country is illegal cause you/your wife dont have all the different permit required to perform those works. And you cant tell me that you do because foreigners arent allowed to rent their leased property on airbnb, or renting it out at all period. Youre doing illegal things here. Do you even realize that? Just because many people do it doesnt mean its legal. And immigration are now cracking down on those illegal practices. I know so many people charged, fined, and deported for this. read the local news sometimes so you know more about whats really going on in bali, not just the bubble you live in with other foreigners.

Andyrfa yeah because foreigners can't own lands and house at the same time in Indonesia. They only get rights to the building for so many years (25 yrs) and they can renew it if they want. A 3rd party (indonesian connection) would have to be involved in the process.
Its not about why not. Anyone can do whatever they want with their money. I just hope y'all won't get screwed over in the end. I've seen that happened a lot because foreigners are being told things that they want to hear lol

That's $1600/month mortgage over 10 years. Utilities are dirt cheap (Canada we pay average 300/ month) plus - renting out for 2 months in a year pays almost half your yearly mortgage.
Makes Complete sense to do.
My city has a community on Indian land. It's a 100 year lease- and the homes are selling for $600,000-1 million - you don't own anything and people are paying a million bucks to freeze their assess off every winter and work themselves to death to pay to live in Canada.

I just love how youre showing off everything you have while at the same time complaining about the very thing you came here for.

You brag about the pool then comolain that its dangerous for your baby cause it cant swim yet.

You can hire help and you dont spend the extra time watching your baby so it doesnt fall into the pool?
I really hope you work here legally too. Cause if you dont, this video will definitely expose you to the immigration radar and then it would be fun to pay the fines...or getting deported after you spend all this money on the villa 😂
