You took a chance being so close to the water. A hurricane is nothing to mess around with. Also have a live radio station on that's giving real time weather updates. Luckily this storm was on the lighter side.

I got stuck during hurricane Katrina and was not able to evacuate due to financial issues. House in Pass Christian Mississippi fell apart around us, myself, 2 children and 2 cats. Scariest, saddest thing ever in my life. Watch out for ANTS!!! Something you wouldn’t think of but they were out and fierce in the water.

@JLR . Please listen and understand what multiple knowledgeable weather folks were in your live chat trying to tell you.. I was told to come over to your live because you were stuck and were talking "crazy" on your live about storm chasing and I got in there right as you were trying to be smart and ask "how does someone become a professional storm chaser? Do they have to go get a degree or chase so many storms? This is my 5th one.." ...
i watch your channel for your border coverage, escapes and the stuff you do there because you seem to have some experience and you see to know things and have contacts and such.. I am NOT watching JLR storm chase and its not because I dont think you should..in fact I encourage anyone and everyone to LEARN all about the weather more and specifically more about how to keep themselves safe from the types of weather they get where they live.. Jumping in a car and driving to the landing area of a hurricane in a place where you dont know those areas/roads/obstacles etc as a complete amature is not only stupid beyond thought its incredibly selfish and just plain SAD someone with your level of experience in life was fine doing that and then doubled down about how you dont need to be a "pro" to do it and you even said "anyone of you can do this, look at me I am doing it!" and you even said more after that all while you were literally STUCK in the #1 location that at least 4 "pro" storm chasers has briefed on hours before the storm was even close that they would not go to that location and everyone should 100% avoid that location from before the storm even hit as you WILL be stranded and yes they knew this from their EXPERIENCE and mostly learning from past storms where people got stuck there and even at least one person died not too long ago.. You say Reed is the best which he is because he literally studies weather 365 days a year and chases every possible day he can and now has not only his doctorate but experience in literally thousands of tornadoes and every level of hurricanes in all the coastal areas where they hit and if you actually spend the time following him you would know even he makes most of his bad mistakes in hurricanes because there just isn't enough of them to understand them that well in every little way but he isn't going to make any kind of rookie level mistake like you just have which could have be your worst day on earth just minutes later and honestly still could be with you being stranded likely for many more hours to come when your telling your stream of over 1000 people that you are in the eye wall and the storm is about over yet the eyewall was still 35 miles off the coast when you first said that and had another 2 hours till landfall.. you weren't getting information from any reputable source but you were taking what 2 or 3 people in your chat were saying which was 100% false information likely just because they also have no real weather experience and the eye of this storm was not symmetrical and ppl look at radar reflectivity as any avg person would and they see this clear spot north of the eye for 10-15-20 miles and they think that is the eyewall because there's no green or rain showing which is exactly why people without even decent weather experience with the tools let alone physical experience should not be chasing alone OR giving anyone of the public information.. If people start delivering weather streams during deadly events for views to make money and give wrong information and cause someone to be hurt or killed shouldn't they be liable? That's why people like Ryan Hall and Reed have degrees and are certified/accredited meteorologists.. its not a field where Joe from Bucktown Nowhere Indiana can just jump in there and start learning as they go with peoples lives on the line..
Honestly it will be a miracle if the weather community doesn't eat you up and spit you out for this.. Reeds streams alone have a scrolling banner the entire streams that say to not do exactly what you chose to do which was follow chasers to an area and all of these "professional" chasers that choose to stream now also talk about this topic nearly every single live stream they do and Reed alone has talked about this on at least half of his videos he has done for the past 15 years so there isn't really any excuse for someone to give.. Those guys are out there to show people how deadly these things are in an effort to get people to start listening to the warnings and information so people stop dying from these events when days of notice are given but the number 1 thing they are fighting is exactly what you did today and those guys are there first to be first responders and help residents who might be trapped.. The first thing I was told is that you saw a family or something stuck and you didnt stop and see if they needed help which I guess they did but I didn't see that and it was second hand so whatever but if you aren't out there first to save people thats when you dont need to be out there at all then which every chaser that has a platform is going to preach and again if your such a Reed fan you would already know this or any known chaser.. if they have the best tornado they have ever seen in 30 years going but they come past a house that just took a direct hit they immediately end the chase and are running into those homes with first aid kits screaming for survivors and this year alone in just one of the many spring outbreaks this occured live on dozens of streams including one of the most amazing rescues ever caught on stream live and once that whole family was in the car so he could rush them to the ER (kids bleeding everywhere and the parents) his first priority was calling someone to take his stream down to protect the family even though thousands of us wanted it to stay up so he could be recognized as a hero which he still was but these guys aren't doing this for just views and most of them cant even cover the costs of fuel and vehicles with CZcams revenue.. they have to license things and rely on donations and maybe 4 or 5 guys make an income now from it which Reed never did properly till the past year or two..
If you actually love weather and want to provide a service to the public by storm chasing then please pursue it but do it correctly and no you dont need to go to school but yes you are going to need to invest a lot of hours just to know the basics really especially the tools and just also understanding the basic things to not kill yourself or put others in danger when they need to rescue you.. you could have and should have made contact with a few professional chasers and worked out a deal for you to ride with them for this storm and any storm this season and especially if you ever go out to TX/OK/KS/NE etc during the spring for tornado season.. this year any Joe Schmoe could have driven out there and accidently ran into 5 tornadoes in 2 days with no experience because it was the 2nd most prolific season ever on record and anyone who did that without proper experience would had been at an very high extreme risk of dying or being injured badly and most just dont understand why and what you need to know and really how to even see these things until they are taught and go with someone experienced who will teach them the ropes if they aren't skilled enough.. Reed himself got into a couple very close hairy situations and one of them would have equalled certain bad injury to him and the guy who rode with him most of the season but even though they got caught off guard in the same situation that kills most storm chasers that end up dying his decades of experience allowed him to constantly shift the vehicles angle into the tornadoes winds perfectly that gave them the best chance to not be flipped and tossed down the road which was proven live on his stream when another truck exactly the same basically they were in was tossed and flipped down the road luckily the people were educated and knew to exit the vehicle and to lay in the ditch which Reed also rescued them even after the windows were blown apart.. this isn't a joke where you pickup a camera/phone and stream this stuff driving around.. plus for whatever reason whatever phone/camera/network you use the quality is way to poor to do storm chasing where people will come watch.. that's another thing you need to consult them for as most are running 4 and 5 SIM network setups with auto-bonding and now almost all of them are finally running proper software that keeps their streams up even if they lose connection for 5 minutes in true dead areas but it just tells viewers to hold on a moment and that is just one part of the setups and you might say well you dont have to do that stuff and you are right except now with 25+ "big" platform storm chasers all with top setups you cant pull any viewers without it even reed had to invest into it finally and it worked out great for him but one streamer decently known didn't and his streams were almost unwatchable all season because these guys chase all over the US so different networks work better in different areas and much of Texas and rural OK/KS/NE is really shitty but with the bonded setups all they need is one bar to stay up in HD.

100% Agree. This was irresponsible and reckless, he showed extremely poor decision making and poor risk assessment of the situation, while very obviously being completely clueless. Did he even have radar up to see anything? It sure didn't sound like it based on all the wrong information he was sharing. He was clearly only there for the views and money. Downplaying the danger of the situation can put his viewers at risk if they decide to follow his example and put themselves into the path of a hurricane with zero knowledge and preparation. Putting yourself in that situation, where you may suck up resources intended for locals when you need to be rescued due to your own idiocy is so disrespectful. Guy got lucky, who knows how long until that luck runs out while people are watching him live.

You would be crying like a child if your parent or grandparent lost their life because a moron who thinks he is the eye wall because it "seems less windy" for 3 minutes is out there tying up rescue resources because he wanted to get views to make money meanwhile people who needed those services died because they went to him first and it happens every year new morons do this. Also, I have one working hand currently and its my non-dominant hand so typing isn't easy and I dont need to use perfect punctuation in a youtube comment and the fact that its all you had to say speak volumes of brain capabilities so yeah nobody directed that comment to you anyways and I believe it says @JLR.. so please mind your own if you dont have the brains to understand what he did was beyond reckless and put lives at risk especially his own.. see the comment up above from @ignota ? The Troopers always close the bridges. They can be swooped away with the surge and wind and title wave. Thats what happened in Katrina, the title waves wiped away the most used bridge across lake Pontchartrain causeway. One side was rebuilt in 60 days. It’s part of I-10. Millions and millions cross that bridge daily. If someone had been on that bridge and when it broke, the car would never be seen again and people.
