  • Kayaking Sparks Lake , Oregon in the Deschutes National Forest.
Sparks Lake is a natural body of water with many interesting lava formations. It is fed by snow melt from the near by mountains and has no visible outlet. There are numerous cracks in the lava where the water can be heard draining out and eventually into the Deschutes River. One is shown at the end of this video.
The lake has breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains Mt. Bachelor, South Sister and Broken Top.

Beautiful. Interesting. Never been there, not likely to get there, don't travel anymore due to health issues, so this is special to me. Thanks you. Doesn't look very deep. Calm, not rushing water. Hope you had a great time and can do this as often as you want. Happy paddling and stay safe.

That is a beautiful paddling destination. Looks like you had the entire lake to yourself.

The trick is to get there very early in the morning. By mid day / afternoon full parking lot and kayaks every where.
