    You did not include the instructions and process for choosing where to install it on the roof. Do I need to locate beams? Install above a wall?

      This video is quite dated now! We have a new installation videos on their way, but the most up to date installation instructions can be found on our website at patioroofriser.com.
      You are correct, though. Patio Roof Risers are engineered to install outside the exterior wall directly into rafter tails or into blocking installed between them. Our engineering documents for load and uplift values for this install location are also available on our website.

    I just bought your lo-pro riser to install a patio in my backyard id love to talk to someone about how I go about doing it. I have not found any videos about the lo-pro or anything showing an actual patio cover not a pergola with lean to roof.

      Our install instructions is a great place to start. patioroofriser.com/install-instructions The installation of the risers into the roof doesn't change and once your beam is set, the build would go together like any traditional sloped patio cover. The installation instructions cover some tips and tricks for all of these processes. Feel free to reach out on our website contact form if you have any further questions!

    Nice looking. I have 4x7 rafter tails coming from our inside open beam ceiling. They stick out 2' on the outside wall and are 48" on center. Can I use these risers screwed directly into the 4x7 rafters 6" in from the edge of the roof?
    Thanks

    • @woodstonestructures5991
      @woodstonestructures5991 Před 4 lety +1

      Absolutely! 4x7 rafters are perfect, especially 4' on center. One thing to consider is that your rafters may not line up with the edges of your deck or patio below, so you may have to split the difference on your beam overhangs if they don't line up. Other than that, all should be perfect!

      Ok, so that isn't really the issue. How do you suppose you remove the roofing under a load bearing structural support point? Let alone along a line of shingles.
      Products like Skyjacker allow the roofing to be replaced without impacting the structural load point.

      Great question! Short answer is the lags connect into solid blocking, but there are two ways to install them.
      Option one is for enclosed soffits. Patio Roof Risers can be installed 4’ on center through the roofing and into the first 6” of rafter tail, outside the exterior wall between the bird blocking.
      Depending on your structure this is around the 1250lbs. per PRR post.
      Option two is for open soffit. Patio Roof Risers can also be installed 6ft on center.
      Install solid 4x8 doug fir blocking between the rafter tales up against the bird blocking using 6 - 5” ledger locks 2” on center each side.
      Depending on your structure this is around 2300lbs. per PRR post.The lags are rated 305lbs. per inch totaling 1830lbs. at the waterproof connection.
      This job had a non-typical 3’ open overhang. And they installed solid 4 x 8 doug fir blocking.
      There is a ton of info including install instructions on our website. Patioroofriser.com

    what happens when its time to replace your roofing shingles? You have to uninstall the pergola?

    • @patioroofriser
      @patioroofriser  Před 5 lety +3

      😅 Not to worry Mr. Comeaux.Patio Roof Risers are designed so that the mounting lags can easily be backed out, and the bolt/nut/pins -connecting fasteners- carefully removed from the hardware and set aside, ONE BRACKET AT A TIME- you can access the roof surface by cutting out the old material and sliding out the PRR “foot” so that you can remove and replace the old roofing 😁 The integrity of your install or your structure will not be affected by addressing the hardware one unit at a time as you move along the roof. The waterproof sealant pad can be stripped off with a metal trowel and some acetone. Contact us for replacement pads. No other pergola mounting hardware currently on the market can be adjusted in this manner. Hope this info helps. If you have more questions, feel free to contact us directly through our website, email, or social media. Our personal cell phone number is avail on all those platforms. 😁

      PATIO ROOF RISER this hardware is so badass it would outlast (God forbid) a structure fire, tree-fall, or lightning strike storm damage to the pergola lumber! You can literally leave it in place as you remove and replace say, a damaged section, or the entire pergola structure. (provided the roof was intact- although you’d likely be able to recover the hardware in the ashes if it wasn’t. PRRs can also easily be taped off if you decide to paint your pergola - which is a much nicer scenario to imagine 😂

      @@patioroofriser Seriously? What do you use to lift the patio up and hold out of the way? A FLOOR JACK. What is your resume on engineering? Also the roofer is taking a gamble unbolting the mount while the patio is resting loosly and could slip and fall. I'm not an attorney but this may get someone injured by taking that advice your giving.

    Won't this cause the roof to leak?

    • @patioroofriser
      @patioroofriser  Před 4 lety +4

      Hello Jay! Thank you for the question. The short answer is No, the roof won't leak. Patio Roof Riser bases have a self-healing butyl pad on the bottom. When the lags are driven into the rafter tails, the water sealant seals the threads entering the roof as well as extrudes around the base plate to prevent water from entering the area. The amount of water pressure it can repel far exceeds rainfall or even standing snowmelt.
      As an additional benefit, because the Patio Roof Riser is designed to be installed to blocking of rafter tails over the soffet, outside the building envelope itself, a failed installation would NOT result in a leak that allows water to enter the primary building structure.
      We would be happy to send you installation instructions or have a conversation with you about your particular application. Please feel free to reach out to us!

      @patioroofriser  Před 3 lety +3

      Depends on the kit. A single Patio Roof Riser with hardware is $124.55. But we have complete roof packages too that go by the size of the roof you're building. They include hardware for all of the posts and beams as well as the Roof Risers themselves.

    No sure I’d even consider this system at all. Not even siting on proper load structure at all. Not to mention the load it’s carrying. 🫣🫣🫣🫣🫣

    • @patioroofriser
      @patioroofriser  Před rokem +2

      Our engineering documents reflect the loads that this specific part of the roof can withstand. Most of that load is still being transferred into the exterior wall of the house. The reason we engineered it this way is for liability. It can still be installed directly above the exterior wall, allowing for higher loads, however, most builds will not exceed the loads that the rafter tails can support. I encourage you check out our engineering documents at patioroofriser.com/engineering.
