- Today I wanted of do a sort of round up video of every new character rumoured to be appearing in Scream 7, because it’s so confusing with all the rumours and speculation going on to kind of grasp what people are being cast for; the significance of them and then what their role will be in terms of the story. Now before I go on, all of these aren’t confirmed, it’s literally just speculation at this point so take it with a pinch of salt. But we’re going to highlight the character, discuss their roles, significance and all that… and I’m going to sort of say what I want to see from them. So let’s dive straight in with the new ‘main’ newbie of the movie.

It sounds like Kevin Willamson is using his original idea for Scream 3, which he has recycled into Scream 4, now repackaged as Scream 7 - the plot just seems like his old Scream 3 and Scream 4 having Sidney living her life, but with a younger generation cast and the town is hostile against her. It's like things turned full circle where we got to finally see something that resembles the original unmade Scream 3, but as a requel - like Scream 5 is a requel of 1, and Scream 6 is one for 2, 7 is a requel for the unmade Scream 3.

Kevin isn't writing this. It's the duo who wrote the subpar other films. If Kevin wrote this, I'd be much more excited than him simply coming on as director.

I don’t think they will rehash the original Scream 4 idea; at this point we all know how that goes. I hope the nanny is not Ghostface, but maybe is killed instead in a twist, or she IS Ghostface and she is killed earlier. I would honestly hate the idea of her being Ghostface, as this would add even more trauma to Sidney’s life. I loved in 5 that these things were pretty trivial for her at this point, I just hope whatever the plot has in store for her, she can see it coming.
The nanny might end up being Ghostface but that might be obvious.

I'm not a fan of the Male lead idea. They tried doing a Male lead in Season 3 of the "SCREAM" TV series and it just was not good at all.
Scream 7 officially starts filming in September. That's not a rumor. It was confirmed to me by Sean Clark and then Neve Campbell double confirmed it with a fan at this weekend's Texas convention yesterday.

I think it would be a good story decision to focus on the Mother and Daughter relationship as that’s what the original trilogy was all about.
The story was Sidney being haunted by her Mothers past.
When it comes to the younger characters, yes make them likeable, that’s the problem I had with Scream 4, 5 and 6 was that apart from Kirby every other character wasn’t likeable at all.
That’s the charm Scream 1 and 2 had, was that all the characters were likeable.
This isn’t the Friday The 13th franchise, where the whole point is to hate most of the characters.
We are definitely going to see a different side of Sidney fasho !
The issue I have with the Babysitter and Neighbour characters is everyone will be expecting them to be the killers.
So it’s best for those characters to just be red herrings and not the actual killers.
You don’t want the killers to be obvious.

Final boy is low stakes. Not going to hit the same, at all.
Especially since the Scream movies purposefully play around with the tropes of the slasher genre. Final Girls dominate like 99% of them, period, let alone just the Scream franchise.

Absolutely not! This nanny is the new lead of the franchise heading forward. The mother of the nanny will wind up being the killer so it’s more about the nanny choosing to save the kids and Sydney over siding with her own mother.
And then once the mother loses, Sydney will step under the role of mother figure for this new leading lady in scream 8.
I’m really excited about this new direction focusing on sidneys family. I really hope we get a surprising killer reveal. 🤞🏻

If Keri Russell is in it it's already going to be clear they'll use her acting skills to be a killer. Keri is one of the most underrated actors in the industry. If you saw how cold she could be on The Americans you'll know they won't waste her talent.

She played too many mean girls already. From previous Scream movies cast lists, I could picture it being played by Reese Witherspoon, Kate Hudson or Claire Danes even. I picture hot housewife in her thirty’s (so she says 🤣)

I'm not loving the nanny idea tbh it would have been so refreshing to see characters the same age as Sidney in the new film. One of Sidney's daughters could easily be a teenager by now (either a child she's had after the events of scream 3 or 4) and would have made sense to make her the new lead instead of the nanny character it'll be interesting to see Sidney as a mother given that her own relationship with Maureen was so complex I imagine Alisha Weir (Abigail) might get cast as Sidney's daughter

That’s corny and completely unnecessary (which Elm St 2 queer undertones are). Not to mention, illogical. If the nanny is the new Sidney, she has to be female to carry on the heroine’s legacy. And her sexuality can’t be a focus anymore, because this rule only served the first installment rules, and the « gay exception » was used as a joke in Scream 4. Not even Mindy surviving the attacks relied on that, and focused on her being the new Randy instead.
I would love if they added Violet & Madeline McGraw as two of Sydney & Marks daughters. They’re already sisters in real life and both at a great age to play mid teens or younger

I hadn't even thought about that. Sidneys own issues with her Mom could end up drawing her into a younger character as the Mother Figure she needed herself growing up
I hope in Scream 8 we can get Sidney, Mark their kids and the new survivors from this movie and the core 4 along with Kirby and Gale back again and get a version of the original plans for Scream 7 because it sounded so interesting and I just hope we can one more film with the core 4 just to conclude that storyline maybe bring in more legacy characters or see Leslie Matcher, Christina Carpenter more of the Carpenters Tara father maybe she has a new step sibling. I just think there is so much potential and storylines to see. I love Sam, Tara and Chad I loved how 5 and 6 we see the family connections the Loomis, Matchers, Carpenters, Prescotts and different character arcs it what makes scream in my opinion aside from the horror genre commentary, true crime, news and media commentary 5 and 6 are incredible more relevant given how this controversy has played out with the fandom and Quinn quotes tarnishing Sam. I also love Sam Carpenter arc how family sin can affect current generation if you will become that. I know this could be a trilogy but 8 it would be nice to see Sam, Kirby, Tara, Chad and Mindy return find an unexplored connection to 1996 killings which a ghost face wants hidden if Scream 7 having a cult is true or a killer espaces that would be an amazing opening where you find out this ghost face drops a hint or clue before he/she dies then you look at Mr Carpenter Tara sibling, Leslie Matcher, Christina Carpenter all while SAM descents into darkness while Sidney can pull her back from it with her own experiences and Tara can save her while Chad supports Tara to believe her Kirby and Gale help Sam and discovering connections to Billy not to mention 1996 killings. It would be so fascinating. The new survivors you can have return and do storylines on them as well.

Scream 6 could be checkpointed or even epilogued at this point. Their stories could picked back up again much like how Kirby bounced from Scream 4 to Scream 6, (subtly revealing her survival by Scream 5)
If they wanted to continue the core 4 story later, I would imagine they could because the could. Sidney had a couple more years of not being pursued by ghostface between Scream 2-3… it’s pretty much Sam and Tara’s turn for that. I would love to see how it ends with that. I hope in Scream 7 Sam and Tara are atleast referenced or mentioned by them.
@@TroyM777 I agree Scream 2 Sidney had some clarity and some peace before the big confrontation with the past so the core 4 are more at that point maybe Scream 8 or 10 after this new storyline done SAM starts looking more for her past with Billy for closure Gale helps Kirby helps and Sidney could. 8 could be about all the families Prescotts, Carpenters, Loomis, Matchers and Meeks are the most prominent family members of the franchise and you see them as villains and heroes which is always interesting in my opinion. I think Christina or Mr Carpenter maybe Leslie I think they could all be separate killers each tbh all have been built up throughout the 2 movies and have good motivations which are personal and can deliver performances and fearsome nature of Billy Loomis because what made Billy so scary was how his loving relationship he slowly started to hate Sidney seeing more sighs or Maureen the more she grieved or kept shutting down with her mother kept living in denial the more he resented her it’s such a complex but cruel and callous motivation to dehumanise her so much and it’s something that gives so much depth and nuance rewatching it and you can make your own conclusions and interpretations to Billy motivated feelings towards Sidney but it gives an interesting psychology that is something Christina and Mr Carpenter could deliver I think having parents wanting to kill their children Sam for just existing is an interesting but disturbing plot line on the level of Scream 1996 the catalyst could be Tara new siblings or father get in contact with her and Sam it brings up old feelings then the movie happens and you see the past all while it’s like the joker and she is descending into darkness and madness. Accidentally killing someone or Danny could be a recruited killer by Leslie there’s so many avenues.
I think it depends on how 7 performs and the backlash or fan support to continue 7 new storyline or if it finically successful it is isn’t fans will petition again and Spyglass may hold the rights and keep it on ice 🧊 but sell it because fans will want new movies and other companies will make promising offers. Then they could sell it if not Spyglass after the heat as cooled down 7 performs well revisit the idea to get Sam and the core 4 back again. Who knows it depends on what happens with 7 if it succeeds and they do that trilogy will they sell the rights doing all their films and running out of ideas 💡 or keep it to reboot it later could go either way but hopefully 2026 Scream 8 we get the core 4 return. What are your thoughts?

Or Leslie can want to recruit Sam who knows I think Leslie would have to be manipulated and she is unhinged like Stu anyway and a bit crazy so it doesn’t take much. Going back to 1996 her and Christina want to cover up the past Christina could know a secret she doesn’t want exposed while Leslie doesn’t want them digging up finding out about her cult/ shrine dedicated to her baby brother Stu so she agrees to kill them and also wants revenge on them.

It could be a case where the Nanny's mother is revealed to actually be Stu's other girlfriend (he was cheating on Tatum with her) and the Nanny could be Stu's daughter and the 2 of them are the Killers in the movie (kind of like the exact opposite of what happened with Billy and Samantha where the Killer's kid actually did turn into a Ghostface Killer).

YES! A Final Boy would be amazing! I've said it for ages, and it's so great to see so many people here- yourself included- that share that ideology! It's one of those things where I'm a bit hesitant to say it for fear of it being classed as sexist 🤣but a male lead would be a real breath of fresh air, and a whole new spin on the victim's POV, and of course, the killer's motive. Who knows? The new Nanny could be a bloke! It wouldn't be a shock to me if the producers had switched genders in case of leaks to maintain that surprise further down the line. But if not this movie, maybe in number 8 (if we get one! 🤞)
Scream 7 may very well be the equivalent “Halloween H20” of the series.
They always have a female lead because she’s typically not expected to be able to survive. However, they really should have a male that is just a center as a female character.

The nanny's mom (maybe the mom is a fan of Stab? Maybe she went to Highschool with Sidney? Maybe the nanny is related to Casey Becker) or the nanny's friends might be the killer.
It would be a great way to switch things up. The old heroine got her mother killed by the first trilogy killers. And the new one has to kill her own, who’s one of the new killers, to protect her « older » self.
I personally like Wes Craven’s New Nightmare…I think it would be so much fun if Ghostface was going chapter by chapter of Sidney’s book, but flipped it so anything positive she wrote she relived into what made her a total bada**. It made more sense in my mind than typing it, but Ghostface kind of just playing psychological games and using her own words and flipping the script.
I didn’t think this sounded like Kevin Williamson’s original idea for Scream 3? Idk if someone said that in the comments, but as much as most of us would love to see Matthew Lillard come back and reprise his role as Stu which was the original plan for Scream 3 as everyone knows by now, it seemed like he wasn’t insanely keen on the idea of coming back like he used to be.
A male lead would’ve been nice considering Chad might not appear, and Randy and Dewey are dead. I’d even go a step further and say, the male lead should be a p.o.c. If he had to be a nanny, maybe even make em gay? A straight passing male horror lead would be a nuisance that only Scream can do right.

Is it also bad that because we haven't seen Christina Carpenter yet, I predict that the neighbor from hell, will be Christina with a fake name and in disguise, like Mrs. Loomis was? Gale mentioned to the carpenter sisters in scream VI that Sidney is in hiding with Mark and the kids… so maybe IF Gale comes back, she’ll do the same thing - mention to Sidney that the core 4 went into hiding. Quick and simple! Let’s remember Sidney started this franchise, not sam and tara!

I love your idea of the nanny/ new younger role being a male character. It would be totally different from tara/sam roles from Scream 5 and 6 and even get more males interested in seeing the new movie. An actor that is popular with a wider audience would really work here. I am intrigued on the Nanny/Baby Sitter role but more so in the Neighbour role that Judy Greer would have been perfect for but I could see Mary Elizabeth Winstead playing now instead. The bitchy neighbour could pose as a real threat to Sid and in my mind a super red herring to being a ghost face.

3:01 it's crazy to me that the only time we had a male lead in the whole of the scream franchise was that shitty I think it was VH1 season of The scream TV show The one that Whoopi Goldberg helped produce or whatever after all the rights stuff happened and they got rid of the Lakewood cast

Poor Sydney, she's gonna have a Karen as a neighbor 😂. What if that neighbor was related to one of the victims from the first 3 films and holds a grudge over her. Motive I'm just saying, we never had a ghostface killer who's motive was revenge but for an unfortunate victim from one of the previous ghostface killings. Also would we be getting a ghostface chase scene with an actual child? Sydney's kid would be the youngest and first child to be terrorized by ghostface. As much as this nanny will be central to the storyline I think it's just a way of throwing people off the scent from who the eventual killer will be! Possibly someone connected to the nanny thats in Sidneys neighbourhood that knew her in the past?

It would be great to see another male lead in horror to join the likes of Casey from the Faculty, Owen from Cry Wolf, or Andy from Chucky. We’re over due for one. And If it does well, I hope we don’t get a Scream 8 where return to College again….

Hard agree with you that the babysitter should've been a male character to switch things up. With another female lead it just leads me think it'll either be her as GF like you said or Keri Russell's mom character as the GF.
I really hope this entry has a lot of great characters with memorable character moments to otherwise combat that feel of nameless GF fodder. Praying for a solid mystery.
I can see the "Karen" neighbor video taping Sydney and posting her location. Or maybe she's recording Mark trying to call him a bad cop and accidentally shows Sydney in the video.

Hear me out. Nanny’s and her mother have a similar relationship to Sidney and her mother. They have a loving relationship but behind the scenes the Nannie’s mother is sleeping with all the neighbors husbands/obsessed with Sidney’s husband. So she starts taking out all the wives and focuses on Sidney the most because she wants her life and husband. I say the Nannie’s male friend is her accomplice who is her “boyfriend” who loves her but she’s just using him to do most the murders and take the fall or putting things in place to make Sidney the suspect. This would be a really cool dynamic of the new main lead having a similar backstory as Sam except she’s in on the actions unlike same was. It’d also be cool to see that the nanny’s mother has ties back to Sidney’s mother and father as well.
For this movie to work for me, the nanny would be just a red herring and better end up being a sort of a hero-final girl, saving Sidney and her complete family (because Sidney deserves to be happy, and for that to happen, her family would end up complete and safe, -yes, including Mark). If Keri Russell does appear in the movie, I'd love for her to be Ghostface. Having an stablished actress like her doing a rol so intense would be great.

I wanna see TWO Male killers like how the ORIGINAL! did it! It seems like everytime after the 4th movie that they have cast girls as the 2nd killers its not believable at all. Im tired of seeing 90lbs teeny boper girls be able to kill Gals muscle bf and Dewey 🤦♂️ like yea yea its possible if done right! But its strange that after the first ScreaM they never explored two male killers anymore. It always had to be a girl and a guy for some reason.

I only ask that they not give too much prominence to the nanny because the protagonist of this film is supposed to be Sidney, do it be like in scream 2022 but inverted the nanny and the young cast being involved in 20% of the film and Sidney the other 80%

@@SazzyElder I have already seen the third movie and she got killed in it. The actress that played her can't come back (especially in a different role, that would just be lazy casting).

I hope they do something different with this movie's opening. it would be great if the opening scene we see Sid receiving the phone call from Gale about the killings in New York and that same night they get attacked but instead of the opening scene's character being attacked/killed (for instance, the nanny) she or Sid could kill ghost face in the beginning. Remember, there's always more than one killer and they might do the cult thing this time around. I would also cosign a male lead instead of female leads. We rarely ever hear of a "final boy".
I think Gale will be the opening kill.

Well, if they announce that Matthew Lillard has signed on then we know Stu will be back. I am totally against this. This is the Scream universe, not Friday the 13 th or Nightmare on Elm street where the lead killer keeps coming back
