  • In this video I will show you how to attach a dread extension to short hair.
    You will need 4 things to complete this task:
    1) Hair length between 3-6+ Inches.
    2) A Crochet Hook
    3) Deadlock extension/s
    4) Hair comb
    Start with sectioning your hair, once you are happy you can proceed to twist, rip and backcomb the first section, using your crochet hook with the hook pointing toward you, go in and start to knot the hairs together. Continue this down the dread until the shape and form is to your liking. Grab your extension and start to pull the crochet hook through your extension, knotting and tying them together. Continue down the until you reach your desired outcome.
    I hope this helps :)

    Hi Jack! I never ever comment on you tube videos, but your video has made the exception. I have to tell you that I have watched endless videos over and over on trying to learn how to grow dreads, make dreads, lock dreads. Then I fell into the rabbit hole of hair extensions, all the different types of installation of dread extentions... I could go on and on.
    Specifically i hadI paused and rewatched many videos on how to crochet and lock the dreads in, but just couldn't figure out exactly how to do it correctly.
    UNTIL YOU, Jack!!
    Sometimes what seems to be such a minor detail in instruction will actually be a major ahh ha moment for the listener.
    I was starting to think that my dreadlock journey was coming to an end before it even got started because I kept having issues with it not locking up or staying locked up in my very short white chic straight hair. So I just want to say freaking thank you for posting this video. Some how you got through to me. Now I am excited to continue on my dread journey and can imagine how bad ass my hair is going to be once I get everything locked in place.
    Very impactful, my friend :)

      Thank you! This way hasn't ever messed up for me yet :) I think people forget that if you don't brush your hair and do anything with it, it will naturally knot and make dreadlocks over time. This crochet hook method is just another way to make a cleaner lock! Thank you once again for your kindness and comment. Sending you good energy. 👌

    Hi Jack! When should i wash my hair with dreadlock extensions?Like every two weeks? I dont know.And can i just wash it with water weekly?Thank you

    • @jack3918
      @jack3918  Před 2 měsíci

      Hey! When I had mine, I used to wash them every 2 or 3 weeks and then dry them with a hairdryer. I used to use a dreadlock shampoo, but you can use more natural products if you want. :) Also, I find salt water really good! So if you go swimming in the sea it will be great. I hope this helps! Thank you

    • @jack3918
      @jack3918  Před rokem

      Hey :) yeah you can, but it depends on how long you leave them in. If you leave them for a few months, you will need to cut the extension off and brush out your natural hair. Hope this helps, thank you for posting your question.

    does this cause your hair to fall out?

    • @jack3918
      @jack3918  Před 3 lety +3

      Hey Anni, to avoid any damage I would recommend using single ended dreads as they can be plaited with the hair. Crotchet will cause some breakage to the hair as it rips and entertwines the natural hair to the extension. I hope this helps you. :)

      Hey, they stay on for as long as you want. If you want them permanent I would suggest really crocheting the hairs together where the extension meets the real hair. & use some thread to secure it even further after. I hope this helps :)
