Pros
- Folding drone with carrying case makes this drone very portable.
- GPS for stable hovering and automatic return to home and landing on command, loss of signal, and low battery.
- Brushless motors for improved motor durability and longevity (as compared to brushed motors).
- 11.1V 2500mah provides upto 30 minutes flight time.
- True 4K video camera with 30 fps frame rate. Video is recorded at 4K resolution (3840p x 2160p) at 30 fps.
- Video and photos are recorded to an onboard SD card (at 4K resolution), and also to your phone via WiFi (at 720p resolution).
- Two axis stabilized gimbal, along with dedicated onboard processor for electronic image stabilization produces extremely stable video.
- Real time FPV video is available through your phone using the "SJ F Pro" app available on Google Play here bit.ly/SJ-F-Pro or for iOS here bit.ly/SJ_F_Pro . App also provides advanced capabilities of follow me, orbit position, waypoints, and headless mode. The FPV signal is smooth and very good at reasonable ranges. Although the range is advertised at up to 1200 meters, I would realistically expect a good signal to about 200 to 300 meters.
- As the drone records its video to an onboard memory card, the drone can be flown without the app using just the controller if desired. Controller can provides range up to 1500 meters.
Cons
- Weighs 585 grams, and requires registration in most countries.
- The app requires use of a phone with 802.11ac WiFi. Before purchasing, use Google to verify that your phone does indeed have 802.11ac WiFi (not everybody has such on their phone).
- Requires using at least a U3 write speed SD card for 4K video. Expect severe frame dropping if you attempt to use a slower speed card (such as U1, Class 10 or lower).
- 4K video only can be recorded to the card. Although the app can record 720p video via WiFi to your phone, there is no ability to downgrade the SD card recorded video to a lower resolution (such as 1080p). This can create problems when trying to view or process the 4K video on older computers or TV's.
- SD card recorded photos are merely frame grabs of the 4K video.
- Controller includes a digital zoom control. However, the zoom only works with the 720p WiFi video, and looks very grainy when zoomed in. There is no digital zoom ability of the recorded 4K SD card video. The controller also has no telemetry (i.e. no display of drone distance, height, GPS status, or remaining battery power).
- Camera works best on sunny days. Overcast days can degrade camera performance.
- Advertised with 1200m FPV range. But a more realistic FPV range would be about 200 to 300 meters as a WiFi repeater/amplifier has not been implemented in the transmitter.

So, if it's not Optical Flow a) what is the sensor on the belly? b) Why is everyone claiming the "S" has optical flow. c)What is the difference on the S model if not Optical Flow. I've been hunting an F11s for this very reason, so I could use your take on this.
@@BlairAir I have the exact same question. I bought the "F11" and "F11S" version of this drone from different sellers on Amazon, ebay, walmart....but non of them had Optical Flow sensor on the bottom.

@@56kiarash LoL dude, this video show the F11 4k Pro, and not the *F11S 4k Pro* (on market since 2021 summer).
The main difference is the power transmitter, as the last version F11s have internal amp (reaching 3000m range).
Also the controller have internal amp and so it's not compatible with previous F11. New controller display show the telemetry, so have different LCDs. Then, the camera is 30fps instead 25fps.

The atennas on the controller hav wires running up through them. they are not just bits of plastic for show.
Your Drone and controller model is F11 PRO not F11S PRO. Correct you title and don't create confusion amount users. F11S has different controller and it's range is also more.

How can you tell they sent you a f11s ? My box says model number f11s, but l took out the battery and the the drone says model number f11 ...was I ripped off? Thank you
The drone does have automatic take off. You just have to use the phone app instead of the controller. It's the icon at the top left corner. I'm guessing they chose to use the cpu in the phone to control the auto functions so that they could save money on electronics. For 200 bucks, I'm not going to complain.
I've been wondering, googling, and get mixed reviews. But does this SJRC F11S have a plastic or aluminum body or frame🤔just curious
Camera and gimbal (+EIS) are pretty good on this quad; kinda the first of the budget camera quadcopters that can say that imo; only the Fimi A3 has beaten it by a couple of years (and only offers 1080p).
pixelpeter - id be sold on it if it werent for the poor video quality. mini se looks far better in that regard. great drone for the price but the clarity is not. also doubt its actually 4k video. a good 1080p cam is far better.
Watched the 4K video prior to this, and see very little difference in the 2 videos. I think its partly due to the optics of the camera, and the FPS. My Evo 1 shoots 4K at 60 fps, and the video is a lot more clear/sharp. Still, as you said, this UAV is a very good choice for the money. Definitely the best of the "bargain" drones you've featured here. Would have no problems recommending this to people who couldn't afford (or want to invest in) a DJI or Autel UAV. Looks like we might get into the 40's on Wed., so I'm hoping to get in a shoot. Thanks for the look. Cheers.
Thank You Q101, took notes, on all your start-up functions, as I just ordered one of these drones, via Bills recommendation. I'm now in Florida, so should have good weather to fly, when i receive-it, in a couple of weeks.

The drone does have automatic take off, it's on the app screen
So I ordered the F11S through the link provided, I received the regular F11 model, when I contacted the company, they asked what they could do to please me, pretty much admitting they sent me the wrong one, then gave me two options, either send it back at my cost ( for their mistake??) or they could refund part of the cost. They didn't offer to replace it with the right model, which means they don't even have the F11S model. I took the refund, not wanting to wait the month they said would be the turn around time.
It makes me angry that these companies advertise a product they don't even carry.
You know there's not really much difference between the F11S and F11. I found out since this video was published that there is no optical flow sensor behind that belly window. However, I also found that this vendor did have a newer version of the F11 with an accurate and more dependable GPS system. Those that purchased this prior to Christmas from other vendors received an early release version with a somewhat sketchy GPS (toilet bowl effects circling problems).

Put a piece of tape over the plastic mesh, just behind the camera. I did this and lost the crooked leg/ compass B.S. as well as the high wind toilet bowl tendancy. I think it is just too much wind for the alt. hold sensor. Think of the bayantoys x16 foam mod in reverse. If you don't like it, you pull the 2cents worth of tape off.
What is that warning for anyway? The tape definitely stopped it

I've got a bricked Zino 1 that decided to stop sending out a wifi signal after 2 months, never crashed. Just received the F11 4K Pro to replace it because it looks like a better bird for less $,
with some features the Zino 1 doesn't have. Just praying it won't end up having the same wifi issue after 2 months. LOL Thank you for your detailed, very informative videos! Do you miss flying in the desert?

When landing this guy, is there are trick to getting it to shut off? Mine keeps running after it lands in the grass. Am I supposed to hit stop or move controls to 5 and 7 positions?

You need to wait until the drone is receiving at least seven satellite signals.
I can fly mavic mini well over 7 to 800 meters n still see it I use trees to mark it in sky! Looks like a piece of pepper! But I still see it! So this drone could easily be flown that far or farther! You have made a lot of videos and I respect that! But alot of people judge a drone by its distance and this video quality is there! Truth is this drones video has a problem! Well noted if you watch videos on it! Thanks! All people want is Truth!

Hi 101, I always wanted to purchase one of those F11 Birds from the first edition up until now but I think what has held me back a bit is the distance and the range of the video transmission , i don't trust that wifi ,unless it is coming from the remote control to the screen for video and having those two antennas on the remote doing nothing is another bummer for me ,I can't stand fake stuff when it comes to this hobby ,if they are two antennas on my remote control ,they should be doing the job they were put there for but I understand the cost and that is a good price for that Drone ,take care and thanks ,great review 101.

30fps video is too low even for 4K, stabilizer doesn't seem too good and the pictures look bad even in 1080p?

It must be outdoors in an open area to receive GPS signal. It may still think that it is in china, and may take up to 15 minutes for the first time to receive a GPS signal. But after that, it should be much quicker.
so is the f11s a true 4k or does that need to be the Pro version?
Fly the drone is confusing in normal mode b/c the directions on the joystick only match with the direction of the drone when the camera facing forward and sometimes hard to recognize the direction of the drone camera when it getting far. it makes me a hard time finding the correct direction of the drone especially when it close to an object and I need to quickly move it. what is your tip for better control of the drone?
Move your stick to the left , if the Drone goes to the left , then it is facing away from you . Move your stick to the right , if the Drone goes to the left , then the Drone is facing you .
You might know this by now .

Congrats QC101 on getting a "Working F11 4K Pro... I've had nothing but grief with mine, and regret the day I bought it... After 2 months of Haggling with either BG or ShiJi, still no resolution...
What types of problems with the drone are you encountering?
@@Quadcopter101 My guess is largely GPS related... Severe "Toilet Bowling" (even though I've done the Compass Cal as carefully as possible), The drone has been as far as 20 meters "Off the mark" on RTH... Which is problematic as I have lots of tall trees where I typically take off from...
And random "Controller Disconnected" errors, even when in very close proximity... Voice prompted and the TX Icon shows "Red" on the app.
I have no issues with either an old MJX B2c with literally 100's of flights from the exact same spot, A new XK X1S and even an old SJRC S70W (Brushed unit).
A real shame, as this is one of the few "Gimbal Drones" that shoots a true 30FPS AND has decent video... I've about given up and will just load up the "Money Gun" and point it at the Fimi X8SE 2020 (still wading through the RCGroups Fimi thread to see if there are any "Red Flags")
Regardless, I really enjoy your reviews, and have no doubt that that I just got a lemon (it happens :)
@@ruralflyer5747 Everything you mentioned is true. The weakness of this drone is its GPS, in the same time, same conditions, my cheaper HS120D flies steady while the F11 4K Pro keeps popping up the message 'Compass interference, ....' When that happens, it's very likely to enter the 'toilet bowl' problem. Not all the time though. But if the GPS signal is strong, wind is calm, it flies beautifully, takes good footage. I flew it today, in a large park, by the river, it flew very beautifully. I still like it.
Just curious. Where did you guys purchase your drone from. And was it the F11S version (with optical flow)?
@@yquy & QC101 - Mine came from Banggood (I simply could not get any resolution from them and Ultimately started dealing directly with ShiJiToys.com).
ShiJi have been earnest in trying to resolve the issues, and ultimately the solution is they are sending a replacement "Base Drone" (no batteries, props etc) n I pay the shipping... more than fair, even though Banggood should have done that over a month ago.
Yes, Yen Quy, I agree 100% when the Drone is working, it is GREAT!!! with the exception that the "Camera Mode" is way under powered... I'm no coder, but surely they could have implemented an algorithm where it doesn't get blown "Off-Course" by an 8 or 9Km/h gust... So I ensure I'm in "Sport Mode" all the time, and try to be "Light" on the sticks.
Regardless, my intent was not to "Hijack" QC101's review, but highlight there are a few issues that need to be addressed...
Hopefully the "S" model w/Optic Flow is the solution.

Do you have to calibrate the compass and gyros every time you fly it? thanks
As with most GPS drones, it's a good idea to calibrate the compass before flying in a new area. Calibrating the gyro though is not as important.
I assume that means that the drone remembers the last calibration?
Yes it should, as long as you're flying in the same area. But always do a hover check after takeoff before sending your drone out. Just let it hover near you, and observe for any unusual movement. If it starts moving in an expanding circle, like it's going down a toilet, land immediately and redo the compass calibration. Toilet bowl effect (TBE) is an indication that the compass needs recalibrated.
the f11s is not advertised at 1200 m fpv it's 3,000 m so is the range. also, nobody buys a Ferrari to do 55 mph. if a drone goes 3 km people buy it so they can go three damn kilometers. give me a break

The J4 does not have 802.11ac WiFi capability. Unfortunately your phone will not work with this drone.

Manually by increasing or decreasing the throttle.
How was the view on the phone?
I was surprised. It was very strong, with no video freezing noted. However, I really doubt that the FPV is capable of going out to 1200 meters as advertised. More realistic would be 200 to 300 meters.

I bought this throne because your review stated that it had an optical flow sensor you pointed it out and went over the feature and when I received the one that I got from robotoy it was clearly labeled and f11 not an f11s and there was no Optical sensor .
I'm in the process of returning this device please recommend a place that has the f11s in stock. your review wasted and is wasting my time if you'd added a disclaimer saying that there wasn't an optical sensor after all I wouldn't be in the position I am now because on your review I based my purchase MW

What!??, I purchased this drone thinking it has the optical flow based on you're review, now you're saying it doesn't??
The original vendor's listing stated optical flow. It also has a window and what appears to be a camera iris in the belly. Unfortunately, when I recently tried to fly it indoors or outdoors with GPS off, it drifted. One of my viewers also stated that they contacted the vendor, who also confirmed the absence of optical flow. They have also updated their listing to remove reference to that feature.

@@Artseventy6 unfortunately no. But do you really need it? Were you planning to fly indoors? It's not recommended to fly this big drone in your house. It's not safe.
Wasn't planning on doing a lot of flying indoors, but certainly hoped to at least do a little to get used to the controls while it's cold and snowy outside. But I did use you're discount code to purchase this drone, and for that I thank you. Keep up the good work with you're reviews.

The s version is a joke from cafago, mien said s on it but it still didn't have no optical flow sensor on it, and they refused to let me return it unless I paid for it...reported them

I got mine today and the video quality is very very bad. Forget 4K not even HD. Very blurry. What is going on? Very disappointed
This is the video recorded to the memory card? If so, have you checked the lens to see if there is a lens protector film still installed? Finally is this in-flight video, or test video on the ground? This camera doesn't do well in close-ups as the focus is set to infinity. Also it needs good outdoor lighting.

But yes i did have it very close to my face hovering over my head and watch the video later in SD card. Not clear at all. But i feel that's the whole point in 4K no? Should not matter if close or far? 4K should be good anywhere. I did not yet try in far away flying as i just got it. But i did try follow me and it's not working either.

the dji mavic sucks, you have to go in the computer every 3 days to unlock areas where you can fly it thats really frustated i think this drone is better and cheaper
