    Mahomes gets a lot of his side throws from his baseball background. He was a multi sport athlete growing up and played baseball and his dad was a long time Major League Baseball Player. I have never seen anyone throw side armed so accurately and all like he does. It’s wild!

    • @jeffwilliams2828

      Many quarterbacks have played baseball as well, but in my limited experience I never personally saw a quarterback figure out the grip to throw a football like a baseball while still having good accuracy and velocity. What is really unique about him is his consistency to do so and perhaps the argument he might be better throwing while moving than in a traditional throwing stance.

    I live in Kansas City. Chiefs fan since moving here in 1968. Mahomes father was professional baseball pitcher and Patrick played baseball through his childhood. He incorporated many of his baseball throwing skills into football. He is changing the way the game is played. It has been a joy to watch after fifty years in the desert as a Chief’s fan.

      I've never been a sports fan, but I'm originally from the Kansas City area back in the day when the Chiefs weren't that good, and I have to say, Mahomes has put a lot of excitement into the game, even for someone who's never followed sports. Kansas City Chiefs fan here. The last three Superbowls that the Chiefs won were against teams that overall were slightly better than the Chiefs, but Patrick Mahomes was the difference in those wins. Even if he's going down with a tackle, he can still throw a completion. His favorite target is Travis Kelce (number 87), who's a celebrity for being the boyfriend of Taylor Swift.

    Believe me if you'd been watching American football for your whole life you'd be even more impressed. Usually when you throw a ball across your body while your momentum is going away from your target the ball will hang up in the air too much and the other team will catch it and take possession. That just never happens to Patrick Mahomes he has crazy arm strength and shoulder flexibility.

    Born (1970) and raised in Kansas City, and I had to wait my whole life to see the Chiefs play in the Superbowl! Patrick Mahomes has been so much fun to watch the last 6 years - he does really unconventional stuff for a quarterback like suddenly throwing left-handed, and his down-field accuracy is spine-tingling! His wife Brittany is a phenomenal athlete in her own right and is one of the owners of a professional women's soccer team in Kansas City. One more comment, as a lifelong football fan, what Mahomes is doing breaks a lot of football's rules.
    Quarterbacks running one direction and then throwing it the other direction is supposed to NEVER happen. Doing that practically guarantees the defender will grab the ball.
    But Mahomes makes it work.
    He's also what we call a gunslinger - a QB with a very strong arm who knows he can throw it all over the field, and trusts his receivers will get the ball instead of the defender.
    Gunslingers typically have problems with throwing interceptions, because they tend to fall into a bit of "Fuck it, my guy's down there somewhere!" and throw it when they shouldn't. (Brett Favre or Jay Cutler are good examples)
    But Mahomes is a gunslinger that doesn't throw interceptions. He's pretty careful with the ball.

There were 4 lead changes in the last 2 minutes of the games and is, in my humble opinion, the greatest playoff game ever played (not including super bowls). The 28-3 Super Bowl 51 comeback by the Patriots over the Falcons was also incredible and worth a reaction.

    Yeah, the ball has laces on one side that you can line your fingertips with. Then, as you release the ball, you can use your fingertips to spin the ball. Making it fly spinning in a spiral.
    This spin helps prevent the ball from wobbling and cut through the air more efficiently. It’s similar to how rifling in a gun works to cause bullets to spin and be more accurate.

    The Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes have won 3 Super Bowls in the last five years the last two years they have won back to back and are looking to be the first team to win three years in a row. Mahomes' dad was a professional baseball player and Pat pitched in High School and a little in college which is where he has developed some of those amazing pass techniques.

    For context, the "Wasp" play at 14:58 occurred in a desperate, almost last-chance situation on third down with a long way to go to get the first down, with the Chiefs trailing by 10 points in the final few minutes of the Super Bowl. That play kept the Chiefs alive and was the start of a crazy comeback in which they scored 21 points in the last few minutes of the game to beat the San Francisco 49ers, who they would beat again four years later in this most recent Super Bowl. I highly recommend either of the Chiefs-49ers Super Bowls if you want to react to a game. The more recent one (Super Bowl LVIII) would probably be the better of the two to react to, as it was only won on the very last play.

    The NFL, in an effort to grow its audience, plays games outside the U.S. every year. They've even played a few in Germany and they have a Munich game at the Allianz Arena scheduled this year. It's between the New York Giants and the Carolina Panthers.
    Patrick Mahomes, however, made the small-market Kansas City Chiefs into a big-time dynasty. 3 Super Bowl titles in 5 seasons is nothing to sneeze at and incredibly hard to do in this day and age. It helps that he has an A-tier coach in Andy Reid as well.

    Some of these plays are great when you know the context of the situation. #1 for instance, the chiefs were down 2 scores with time running out in the Superbowl and the chiefs offense were getting run over. If they didn't make a play right there then it most likely would have been game over. They called a time out trying to figure out what to run and Mahomes calls for the play they named Wasp. The coaches said okay and they completed that play which totally flipped the field and momentum for the last few minutes of the game

    • @rekkaba3924
      @rekkaba3924 Před 24 dny

      well just about. One of the other great abilities of Mahomes is the way he uses his eyes and vision to trick the defense into thinking he will pass the ball in one direction only to make a no look throw on the opposite side of the field. That said, I didn't see any of those plays really appear in that highlight reel, so no way to really pick up on that.

  • @A_Name_
    @A_Name_ Před 23 dny

    To give a little context to what kinda crazyness he is doing. Modt plays are designed so as soon as the qb finishes his drop back the ball should be leaving his hand. Less than 3 seconds defore the defense is generally ontop of you, and he just dances around like its nothing and gets his guys all the time in the world to get open. Its really remarkable. On top of that his accuracy and ability to find guys "after the play has broken down" is exceptional. The play is considera broken once everyone has done what they are supposed to do or the defense has completely ruined what was intended.

    Patrick Mahomes is one of the best, I'd recommend reacting to Aaron Rodgers. He is considered the most talented thrower of the football of all time. He played for the Green Bay Packers. The only team in all sports that is owned by the fans and not by a singular owner. They have the most championships in the NFL and are also the smallest market in the NFL. Their stadium is the oldest, it is built in the center of a town called Green Bay. 100k+ people live in the neighborhood surrounding the stadium. It is truly amazing.
    I'd recommend looking up videos on the history of it too. Such as Vince Lombardi, the original coach of the Packers. The Superbowl trophy is named after him, The Lombardi Trophy. It is the best history in the NFL. You will enjoy it.

    Oh, one thing you need to know when watching Quarterbacks throw the ball is that it's VERY hard to throw far or accurately when you have to throw "across your body." So for a right-handed thrower who is running toward the right side of the field, it's harder to throw a good ball than if they were running to the left side of the field. There are very few Quarterbacks who can consistently do this well, and one of them is Patrick Mahomes (Josh Allen is another one).
