Making a Coil Pot - LIKE YOU'VE NEVER SEEN!

  • Well...sometimes Ann gets these whacky ideas. Not sure where from but this one is a "doozy". She attempts to break a world record for the longest hand extruded coil and make a very unique coil pot. You wont believe what happens! You will also see the creation of the newest, hottest pottery tool...THE COIL MASTER 2000! You just can't get this anywhere else folks (and probably for good reason). Anyway...enjoy the revolution of pottery!
Answers to questions we get all the time:
We typically bisque to Cone 04 and fire to Cone 5-6

I would have curved all that clay back around the table so I could pinch it back into another coil and make a plate to go with that cup. A nice little curled cookie plate. Flatten the bottom but leave the top ridged. Glaze it well with food safe glaze and this will be a cute little ‘after school dessert combination’. Congrats on the record.

Jim’s special effects and the “Coil Master 2000” as well as your master coil skills made for a very entertaining video this week! What a fun experiment! The tongue on the DiamondCore tool can be adjusted down just by loosening the screws on the side. You probably knew that already, but just in case you didn’t. Now…..for my genius idea on another way to make this project…..a home made pasta making machine! Fortunately the Arcobaleno AEX18 model will hold 15-20lbs at a time and will only run you about $6259! 😮You might need to purchase a custom attachment to make “noodles” (aka coils) that are thick enough to withstand rotating around the Coil Master 2000 without breaking. 😂 Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞🏼 that the best idea submitted might just win themselves their very own autographed Coil Master 2000!!! 🎉🎉🎉 You guys are the best!

Hi Pat. I can see that in my head. That would have solved the problem of the non-flat foot and rim for sure. The only thing for me would be the connection points at each coil. My porcelain doesnt like them and tries to warp. I was wondering if this project would warp in the firing, but to my surprise it was round when we took it out of the kiln...... I say go for it Pat!!
