When I used to work in banking, the best way to learn counterfeit currency was by surrounding yourself with the real. The more you handle the real, the easier it is to spot the counterfeit. The same holds true in the spiritual sense. The more you spend time in the Word, in prayer, in the Spirit, the easier it it is to spot the counterfeit.

@@indiawilliams879 hullo there -very true! And here’s another thought...some teachers start off with biblical truth and stray off into wrong teachings - and because the congregation has heard the biblically sound scriptures initially, when the teacher introduces new ideas the people will believe them. ie. “they’ve always taught what the bible says, so what they say now must be true too even if it’s not in the bible”. Many “wolves in sheep’s clothing” start off this way, lulling the people into trusting them. What are your thoughts?

I'm 14 and definitely a young Christian, but I have a really strong relationship with God. Personally I always ask God before I listen to their songs and I've learned that you can experience spiritual uphoria outside of the holy spirit. Just like how you can experience joy that is outside of the lord. I've found that we very easily can confuse spiritual uphoria with the joy of the holy spirit and it can become hard to decern. Although we innocently sing these songs with good intensions, to me the "safest" option is just to pray about it and ask God for guidance before I listen to their music

And the biggest deception of them all is for Satan to have us believe we’re the only ones who hold “the real truth” while everyone else “is deceived” and is being used as a “tool of the enemy.” (Funny how Satan acknowledges his presence to us only when talking about his influence on other people.)
Satan is cunning. He is the AUTHOR of confusion. If we don’t stop and remember we are dealing with the master-est of manipulators here, we’re *intentionally* confused by his tactics. This exercise is *meant* to keep our minds going in circles and away from worshiping God.
      Have you not heard?
      Do you not know?
The God we serve is the God of the Universe.
      He created EVERYTHING.
      ALL power in His hands.
      He alone is perfect.
      He alone is spotless.
      He alone is pure.
He knows how to turn songs written by fallen man into shouts of praise worthy of His gloriously holy presence.
So much time spent on here tearing down man... such time wasted dissecting the next man’s heart - (which you and I will never know) - while dissecting another man’s breath and his every word.
      Live in GRACE.
Focus on the Father. Focus on His grace.
      Walk in His love.
      Walk in His grace.
Turn your eyes away from the heart of man, sing praises to the God of all gods, the Lord of all lords and the King of all kings, and with all the breath in you, sing and worship and fix your eyes singly upon Jesus.
He turns it all around for His praise.

getting 'emotional' is not the same as being filled with the Holy Spirit. i feel these songs play on and appeal to emotions more than actual sound doctrine. John 4:24 tells us to worship the Lord in spirit and truth.
    Edit:
Hi there, I realize my comment could have come off harsh, I apologize! My comment was not saying that emotions are wrong, God gave us the gift of a beautiful wide range of emotions. My comment was to note that we should not make emotions our god and the determining factor for whether or not what we're doing is considered worship to the Lord. John 4:24 tells us what worship is, simply that it is done in Spirit and Truth 'For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” God bless ♡

@@jjgems5909 - Nothing is wrong w/ simply feeling emotion sometimes - it's all about balance: a word I never see in these comments hardly ever. These ppl think too much and over-thinking is just as immature and irrational as being overly emotional. Ppl don't know anything about balance and duality. A person's beliefs aren't relevant to their talents or their music anymore than an actor's talent has anything to do w/ their charm but too many ppl, for example, think Sandra Bullock is some great actress too and she doesn't even know how to act! She's only a performer and her charm is what she uses to fill movie seats. Ppl still don't get this.
Why must we conflate things that don't go together and also, why must we toss out the baby w/ the bathwater? You eat the meat and spit out the fat! Hello - much of this is just common sense! God gave us all common sense so I say, use it folks! Why must we be so torn over something like this? If the song is just uplifting praise music, what is all this drama about? I listen to this music all the time now and it helps me focus on prayer better and it makes me feel more at peace and more positive.
There are only like 2 songs I've run across that I took out of my playlist b/c they sang about 'oneness' in a wrong way that was encouraging Marxism/ tribal thinking. Now, that I WON'T listen to anymore than I'll ever listen again to John Lennon's silly Marxist drivel of 'Imagine'. Christian music is separate from its church's sermons w/ a few exceptions, but the rest of it is just positive and praise-God music.
** Another exception is 'Reckless Love of God' - that song's title alone is just so wrong! God does NOT love us 'recklessly' which is a word that means having little to no responsibility! Ppl are so ignorant these days about language and too often use poor vocab to express what they mean. Their hearts can be in a good place but they are just not articulating the message of their hearts properly and this can be a problem - esp when it may cause other Christians to stumble. We need to be much more responsible w/ our word choices and how we execute them. No - this does not mean I uphold the suppression of the freedom of speech b/c I am a big supporter of the constitution - esp the 1st A, but we still must become better educated about language and grammar, etc b/c we can't understand one another if we can't speak the thoughts we hold inside.
Most lyrics are simple and to the point - no misquoted bible scripture, no heresy. I never hear it except once in a blue moon. Ppl are just drama queens and love to make something out of nothing! It's sad we even have to have a video explain this in the first place. Thanks for listening - I must go now and play some Crowder or For King & Country or Lauren Daigle or Toby Mac b/c as one of my fave songs by him says, 'Help is on the way' and 'I've lived enough life to say help is on the way'! LOL...

@@mac4039 Talking about religion or about the ones who do not have any religion is always a contradictory situation, like a lot of things nowadays. I like songs that can praise God and we can use them as we want to, everybody has a soul and if some are doing wrong, they will have to deal with that, we are not God to decide what to do, judge or say. We just nicely have to tell people in conversations, not to idolize anybody but God. I'm not a pastor, a famous person or somebody people are following, but if somebody asks me what makes me happy, is there, when I can share my positive praises to God. Sharing a good example is better than judging, and as I said, everybody has to make a living, you are making one selling and with your views and comments, and that's your own decision, that also applies to the people you are against. If you can contact the churches you mentioned, talk to them, it's better than trashing them, that is where you are doing your job as a religious man trying to fix what you think is wrong.

A lot of people still unfortunately don't want to believe it because they can't seem to realize that something that they think is Christian could possibly have anything Occult attached to it, but unfortunately, it does! I pray that the Lord will use this video, as well as your comment, to help more people realize what's actually going on! It’s better to not let the wolf in sheep’s clothing in then to let them in and teach the flock self defense skills. That’s what it comes down to.
The American church is WEAK these days. The number of “spiritually mature” Christians dwindles by the day. We are at a point where pastors should be being MORE careful about what is being taught/sung/used in their churches, not less careful, merely because so many Christians are so easily swayed by the world. Instead, pastors think that giving more leeway to the material used in services is somehow more beneficial and “attractive”. Sometimes, as a pastor, you have to make unpopular decisions to protect the flock, even if “Christian” pop culture gives you a lot of pushback.
I applaud you, good sir, for your strong stance. More pastors need to be willing to take hard stances on this issue instead of the “I don’t want to deprive you of the 70% good stuff” statement/belief. There is a time and spiritual maturity level where allowing the sheep to “wander” a little bit and dive into more grey areas, but the American church at large doesn’t fit that criteria.

2 Timothy 3: 1-16 1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; 9 but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.
10 But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, 11 persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra-what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for [c]instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Let me ask you one question: Does the music of these groups elevate God or draw attention, fame and money to themselves?

I will never leave Him again and will not turn to false teachers. I do listen to Hillsong music but only from one worship leader. I discovered her last year and have watched her life in music back to 1993. She makes me feel Jesus when she sings. I don't see anything unbiblical in what she sings or writes. I hope she is genuine in what she portrays. The music has helped me a lot to become closer to Jesus. I may disagree with some of the churches statements but I have never been to a church that I agree with totally. Even the Christ centered church I am at now. Recently my atheist son in law has been listening to Joel Osteen. In the Bible, 26 out of 27 books in the New Testament address false teachers and/or teachings, but it’s ok to play their music at church?
The Bible teaches that we are to Mark and avoid false teachers, are we really marking and avoiding them by actually giving them a platform and allowing their music to be played in our churches? Seems we are doing the complete opposite.

    @legoabekoketjo Před 4 lety +147

Hi brother Allen. I am gonna be truthful to say that I was not comfortable throughout this video. Before I became Born Again, not only was I an unbeliever but I openly expressed hate and disregard to God, at some point I called myself an atheist. But throughout my unbelief I LOVED Hillsong music. And not only the music, BUT I LOVED to listen to Brian Houston's teachings. Never was I convicted to repent and believe on God. Though I would listen to the music, never have I felt any conviction to submit to God. I remember when I was opening my heart to know God I started to pay more attention to the teachings of Brian Houston and at one point I remember this fondly he said even unbelievers, many of them important people listen to me and have come to me and said they love my preaching and are very motivated by it.
That is just my back story with Hillsong. After being Born Again, I have come to denounce and shun not only their teachings but have also stopped listening to their music. It has been by the Grace of God through the help of the teachings of Justin Peters, Spencer Smith and others...
I am afraid you are afraid to name names. Well, you do that but I am disappointed of you not calling a heretic a heretic, or a false teacher, a false teacher. That will not do much good for especially new believers.
The Bible says there is none good, no, not one. There are kind and loving unbelievers, but are they good? No. Sometimes they are nicer than some Christians. 😅😅
There are a bunch of false teachers, who sometimes teach biblically sound doctrine... Is that good? No. Because they are still false teachers!!
Of cause many people are saved through Bethel, Hillsong, or Elevation, probably more than some doctrinally sound churches. BUT it was not Bethel or Hillsong that saved them, but GOD!! There are many that are saved through your ministry, or John MacArthur's, John Piper's, or Voddie Baucham's... It is God who works our salvation and we give glory to Him for that.
What is our duty? We keep sound doctrine. We teach sound doctrine.
We praise God that people are saved through Bethel, Hillsong and Elevation. BUT we shun these churches for they teach heresy!! And we tell people that they should not in anyway make any fellowship with them if we truly believe that they teach heresy.
I hope this is a good example: In Genesis 50:20 Joseph says to his brothers, "ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good,"
It is evil what these false teachers do. But glory to God that God not only can but does use it for good to save many. BUT we need not to be indifferent and say you may listen to Joel Osteen because there could be some blessing you receive from his teachings... That is a step away from saying you can read the Quran, there are some good things in there, you can listen to Buddha, he taught some very helpful things.
As I was writing this. I was become more afraid that you could go there. Please don't be indifferent of false teachers. The church needs people who will boldly stand for truth and point out false teachers.
Thank you and God bless you for your ministry as I have greatly blessed by it. 🙏🙏

    • @shannonjadrich9916
      @shannonjadrich9916 Před 4 lety +5

@@tetelestai860 That depends on what you mean by "sound doctrine". If you mean topics like how to take communion or how to baptize a person (sprinkle or submersion?), or predestination in relationship to free will, you can say that many churches have differing points of view. That's ok because those topics don't threaten or challenge a person's salvation. But Bethel church teaches that Jesus heals as a man in right relationship with God the Father, not as God Himself. That's unbiblical and promotes their false teaching that man's "ability" to heal on command is somehow relevant to every person. To be clear, the gift of healing isn't given to everyone. The purpose of everyone having different gifts from the Holy Spirit is to work together as the body of Christ. We all need each other.
"Deal-breaker" doctrines like the divinity and lordship of Jesus Christ can't be ignored and any person who preaches otherwise is a heretic (by definition). I can't speak for Legoabe, but I think you might be misunderstanding him. I think what he's trying to say is that we should call out false teachers who are preaching a different Jesus (that isn't biblically supported). We need to be bold, so long as we are speaking truth from the Bible. And I think his delivery was very respectful and considerate of Allen Parr. Allen is also very respectful and tactful in his delivery in the video, but I do think that he treaded a little too carefully when it came to the opportunity to call out these false teachers. By suggesting that you should feel free to listen to false teachers who preach a different Jesus or don't deliver the Gospel at all (ie. Joel Osteen) just because most of their message is biblical in some way, is technically suggesting that it's ok to listen to false teachers. Does that sound right to you? Not to me. This is something we all need to take to the Lord in prayer. For the record, I don't think Allen is trying to lead people astray, either.

Yes but in scripture the false teachers were usually not the ones who walked and ministered in the demonstration of the Spirit and of power, in fact Paul ministered this way. The False teachers were the Gnostics, the Judaizers and the like, the people who either wanted to bring believers back under old covenant law or who wanted to create some kind of weird spiritual reality where natural matter was evil and the spiritual was all that was good. I grew up with their songs Hillsong, Bethel and Elevation. The scary part is the scandal of their church! And, the tricky part is their songs are good, they even used biblical passages lyrics but mixed with what I felt singing it was not right. There is an elevation song line “you never failed me yet” in my head, does God will come to fail us? And another song the “Never Lost a Battle” the line goes like this “you can do all things but fail” I may not be a good professor English grammar expert but singing those lines felt a conviction to stop singing! But its not my place to judge. Personally, I will let the Holy Spirit of Lord Jesus Christ lead me to what kind of true/anointed Christian song to listen to! This is the reason why we need to have a deeper relationship with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will lead us to the truth and nothing but the truth.
I also believe that God looks at our hearts. Even if we sing hyms loudly and properly yet our hearts are not with God, aren't we like those Pharisees and Saducees in the old times? For they follow God yet their hearts are not with Him.
Our God has a grace and love that is bigger than how we can ever imagine! Every effort that we do, even if it is the smallest, if we do it for God and for His glory, i dont believe that He will not appreciate it.
So let us love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our mind, with all our soul. And let us love our neighbors as ourselves, on these commandments hang the law and the prophets. Let God be God! And let us be us. Our job is not to judge people, but to love them 💗

It is possible within the scope of truth to believe something one day concerning a gray area of scripture at least and then have that belief adjusted or even corrected by the Holy Spirit even before you get the sentence out of your mouth. Now concerning unchangeable doctrinal points such as Jesus being God in the flesh or the fact that He raised again on the third day, or that He was crucified on a roman cross, the Holy Spirit will not change your minds on these things, but all of us live in a state of flux if we are teachable allowing the Holy Spirit to shape and mold us as we go along in life. In fact the word repentance in the original language actually means to change you mind. No negative connotation to it whatsoever, you change your mind from your own way of thinking to God's way of thinking, in this way you learn to walk in the Spirit, you walk in agreement with God, in fact if a person does not have this teach-ability in the spirit they don't need leading others in ministry in the first place.

Seek God and not other people’s opinions on such matters, otherwise we are all prone to become self-righteous Pharisees and a brood of vipers! Yes, test the spirit, but by the Holy Spirit and Scripture, not your own opinion. There is great warning in the Bible about those who blaspheme the Holy Spirit, like the Pharisees did. Make sure you are not accounting to the devil what the Holy Spirit is actually doing. Before we tear down brothers and sisters in Christ we need to fall on our knees before God and seek His opinion. The fruits are the true test and thousands have truly come to Christ through these ministries. They are also involved in many ministries ‘on the steeets’ getting their hands dirty and loving the marginalised - something not many of their critics acknowledge or are even aware of, because they quietly get on with it! @@gilwil You may want to check Acts 16:16-18. Even though the demon was speaking a truth statement, Paul shut the demon down. The source matters. If it didn't, then there would be an appearance of there being an alliance between those sent by God and those sent by the devil. If Paul and Silas had given approval to demons revealing the truth, they could have used that approval to gain credence when telling lies. (This is the point). The same would be true if we give approval to worship music songs espousing truth in the lyrics but the source of that “truth” is a seducing spirit. Therefore, believers would be led astray by way of seducing spirits. (This would be the result). We see this point being made today; and, we see the results happening all around us as our youth are drawn away by seducing spirits to “churches” NOT built on the solid foundational teachings of Christ and His Salvation of Grace through Faith.

Early on during the emergence of "contemporary Christian music" there was a movement to compose scripture songs, i.e. setting passages of scripture word for word to music. Unfortunately this has died out. Would love to see more scripture sung to "contemporary" music. Not to say all worship music needs to be only scripture, but scripture songs will not be prone to the kinds of errors that are of concern regarding the music of these churces.

We rejoice at every soul saved. However, those few who found the true biblical Jesus were NOT saved by Hillsong but in spite of. It is all by God's grace and mercy. That is why they had to leave the church.

@@amazinggrace9381 well obviously its by Gods grace and mercy everyone who gets saved its by Gods grace and mercy. My point is they got saved at hillsong so God is still working there and working on Hillsong and the gospel is still going forward. The Baptists are in error they don't believe in the gifts of the holy spirit and musical instruments apart from a piano and people get saved in the Baptist Church.

    • @amazinggrace9381

@@thelasthourgetready I appreciate your interaction with me. (1) If we consider the gigantic size of the church and the few number of people who got saved there, and (2) once saved they immediately leave the church praising God for the freedom, we can safely conclude that Hillsong Church is not the reason for their true conversion nor their spiritual growth. The conversion testimonies I heard were results of their personal studying of the bible and working of the Holy Spirit convicting them see how wrong Hillsong's teaching is. That is why true converts do not stay in the church. Therefore, I do agree with you that there are people in Hillsong church who still get saved, just not by their preaching.
