    I feel that savage is slightly different. It lost its meaning somewhat, and indeed is used to call someone or something cool. But when I was growing up, a savage (as a person) meant more like someone who was daring enough to do a mean or dangerous task. For example, a student talking back to a teacher after getting told to go to the principal's office. That kid is a savage for talking back. Or maybe after school, the same kid decided to do a back flip off the playground. That kid is a savage for doing a backflip.

    I live in a place called Detroit and the most used slang word is do you know what I mean it's basically their version of of a greeting but it's more what you say after a sentence it's kind of like those people that say like a lot but instead of saying the word like you're saying the words do you know what I mean.

    "Off the rip" is not a common slang term. It is also problematic because it is associated with drug use. I would not recommend using it unless you want the people you are addressing to think you smoke a lot of marijuana.

    • @casey9439
      @casey9439 Před 2 lety

      @Yeovbii it implies "rip" as in "bong rip". I have heard "off the rip" used after to state what a person would do immediately after "ripping" a bong, joint, etc...
      The term "rip" probably comes from the sound that burning cannabis makes when being vigorously smoked.
      I really would not recommend using this term in a professional environment.
      To clarify, I am a native English speaker who has lived in the Great Lakes andRocky Mountain regions of the U.S., as well as California. I am familiar with all U.S. dialects.
