What impressed me is at 30m39s 30:39 the example given on growth is excellent. An interesting point about growth of a seed to plant and relation to problem of plenty. Learnings from heuristic methods is difficult and uneconomical to prove by scientific methods. This is very good example. Another striking example is the education of women in Madras Medical College. Please see their website where British women came and studied there to graduate as doctors. This was because at that time in the British empire women were not allowed to study medicine, they came to Madras Medical College to study, since India had no such restriction. That situation is still reflected today, since the number of women in engineering or medical professions in the UK, USA and western nations is still far below that of India. This is very true. Please read the Pew Research report of 2021 "Key findings about the religious composition of India" where their primary concern is why India has remained a majority Hindu nation. They seem to proudly show the north eastern states and how conversion to Christianity has some success there, but not rest of the country. The word "conversion" is by definition reflects "intolerance" as Dr. Arathi rightly points out. While many think that the 100% literacy in Kerala is due to their missionary efforts, one of my good friends Mr. Thomas Abraham always pointed out to me that it was due to the great Diwan C.P.Ramaswamy iyer who made women's education compulsory and allocated 19% of the state budget to education that brought about the dramatic change. He also instituted the famous "temple entry act" in 1932 allowing SC/ST - the marginalized sections into the famous Padmanabha temple of Tiruvanantapuram. The museum there shows a painting of these people - whose reaction of entering the temple for the first time is well captured showing fear yet the Bhakthi bhava about Sri. Padmanabha. Macaulay also tried very hard to destroy the culture by admonishing traditional "paTashala" and introducing the western education system. He had hoped to eradicate vedic studies in its entirety. My good friend's grandmother (she was in her late 70s when I met her) told me in great detail, how as principal of Maharani's college, Tiruvananthapuram, she had to see C.P.Ramaswamy Iyer, often. Another striking example is the education of women in Madras Medical College. Please see their website where British women came and studied there to graduate as doctors. This was because at that time in the British empire women were not allowed to study medicine, they came to Madras Medical College to study, since India had no such restriction. That situation is still reflected today, since the number of women in engineering or medical professions in the UK, USA and western nations is still far below that of India. I am proud to see Dr. Arathi talk about it and the Samskrithi.

This is very true. Please read the Pew Research report of 2021 "Key findings about the religious composition of India" where their primary concern is why India has remained a majority Hindu nation. They seem to proudly show the north eastern states and how conversion to Christianity has some success there, but not rest of the country. The word "conversion" is by definition reflects "intolerance" as Dr. Arathi rightly points out. While many think that the 100% literacy in Kerala is due to their missionary efforts, one of my good friends Mr. Thomas Abraham always pointed out to me that it was due to the great Diwan C.P.Ramaswamy iyer who made women's education compulsory and allocated 19% of the state budget to education that brought about the dramatic change. He also instituted the famous "temple entry act" in 1932 allowing SC/ST - the marginalized sections into the famous Padmanabha temple of Tiruvanantapuram. The museum there shows a painting of these people - whose reaction of entering the temple for the first time is well captured showing fear yet the Bhakthi bhava about Sri. Padmanabha. Macaulay also tried very hard to destroy the culture by admonishing traditional "paTashala" and introducing the western education system. He had hoped to eradicate vedic studies in its entirety. My good friend's grandmother (she was in her late 70s when I met her) told me in great detail, how as principal of Maharani's college, Tiruvananthapuram, she had to see C.P.Ramaswamy Iyer, often. He insisted that women should not only excel in studies but actively participate in sports and every activity that was common in Boys school and colleges. He also sent inspectors to homes to verify whether any girl over the age of 5 stayed home. the parents would be informed that they are violating a state law. Yes, it seems like long ago, but this happened less than a century ago.
