I bought this collection mostly for the fighting games but... damn Puzzle Fighter is taking a lot of my attention recently! It's crazy!
I brought the collection for puzzle fighter, happy to see more people are giving it the time it deserves its so good!

Super Puzzle Fighter 2: Turbo is my second favorite video game ever. The joy this collection has given me is immense.
I had Puzzle Fighter back on PS1, I freaking loved that game! Sakura's stage was my favorite ☺️
I still have the PS1 version! Used to play against my best friend so much that it's one of the few games I'm pretty amazing at.

Tiff just wanted the smoke as soon as she saw Max streaming.
Still odd how Darkstalkers had such a presence in Capcom stuff in the 90s and now fans are begging for any scraps they can find, haha.

I just got this collection today. And gotta say, its pretty cool you get some free fighting games with your puzzle game.
This is an amazing collection and I will forever love it for introducing me to this game. I love Tetris and fighters, and this needs a sequel.

This game is surprisingly fun to watch
So this was pretty interesting: I went to a hobby store last week that bought and sold toys and video games from all generations, and I saw there, in the back, a sealed Darkstalkers figure pack, that included J. Talbain and B.B.Hood (and her dog, of course). Considering this collection was the first time I ever played a Darkstalkers game, I found it pretty cool that I just so happened to find some merch of it now.

The ramping of the music is so weird. Pretty sure it did not do that on PS1.
Indeed. The PS1 version doesn't do that, hence is my favorite version. The tunes speeding up and slowing down are most likely to create tension, but to me it's pretty annoying and distracting.

I've been watching each video Max puts up of Puzzle Fighter and it's amazing how I can follow Marvel, Guilty gear, and other crazy whacky fighting games. But Puzzle Fighter? I haven't a clue what's going on lol
I think it's because the action is divided. In a fighting game there's a lot of interaction that means you're always getting the whole picture, but in a competitive puzzle game both players are very separated, so you can't take it all in at once. You almost have to watch it twice and focus on a different side each time.

I wanna get this collection just for this game cause it looks so fun and satisfying. I'm also surprised that Max is worse without audio than with it; Only Nico could get easy wins thanks to a glitch.
Playing puzzle and pocket fighter online is the SOLE REASON I even bought this I don't play nothing else lol

A few things about Puzzle Fighter.
Hsien-Ko isn’t very good. Her drop pattern makes it extremely easy to set up chains.
Ken is the best if you’re good at the game and can hit some huge combos. Otherwise pick Donovan.
Akuma and Devilot suck because they do 70% of normal damage.
You never want to stack up the 4th column when you can avoid it.
Learn what the diamond truck is and how to use it. It’s a glitch that changes the diamond from doing 50% damage to 100% damage.
There are other things to this game, but those are some basics.
Wait there's mechanics and difference per character? I really thought everyone is the same and I just play it like a normal puzzler
@@Narding5566 The primary difference between characters is the drop patterns for the normal characters along with the damage modifier for the secret characters Devilot and Akuma.
You can see the drop patterns a character has on the character select screen. In general, Ken is really good because he has the “least worst” drop pattern. He doesn’t give power blocks or easy to counter patterns (like Ryu’s all vertical colors). However, if you only do a bunch of small hits with Ken, you’ll just drop a number of red blocks for the opponent to use. That’s why he’s generally better for players who can set up big attacks.
Still don’t know why a puzzle game is on a fighting game collection but I am not complaining lol
Never got this games mechanics. Loved playing though.
I love those game, but god is it ever hard to play it colour blind. Green and yellow looks identical to me, so I just brute force it with blue and red.

I bought Puzzle Fighter for the Gameboy Advance and loved it. That cartridge broke a few years back and the ROMS I found were pretty buggy, so I'm glad that I can play this game on modern console

@@Martynde No they removed them completely. They were in the Japanese ROM but even in that version it is gone.
Today I learned that Max is simply tone-deaf. Learn something new everyday, I suppose.

On the subject of collections like this one; I'm interested in getting one or more of the Mega man collections for Switch.
Can anyone tell me which ones have physical versions and if any of them are found easily?
Switch is tough because Capcom has an annoying habit of putting half of each collection on a download code in the box. If that doesn't bother you, I can personally recommend the X Collection for its variety. If that's a deal breaker, however, Zero/ZX has everything on the cart.

All those times he was struggling with puzzles in other games, it just occurred to me that it was him proclaiming that he was indeed a puzzle god, just a specific kind of puzzle.

Can you select all the games you will accept a match with similar to the SS Anniversary Collection, or do you need to be in that 1 game searching only that game?
