- Every day, more and more of the rainforest is being destroyed on Sumatra - mainly for palmoil plantations! Who pays the price? The orangutans. They loose their homes and often their lives. Why? For the convenience food and products we consume. The sumatran-orangutan-conservation-programme fights to protect the apes. However, to prevent the orangutans’ extinction, we all must join this fight and avoid palm oil. Please make an informed choice : Only buy palm oil free products!
The companies know there is a movement against palm oil so they list it under alternative names. This makes it very difficult to keep up and also not knowing alternatives without palm oil is another problem.

i can not thank you enough! this is soooo important.
let say if we convert to the other oils.. let say if we go for the soy, canola or sun flower...yes that will not be produced in tropical climate country and no orangutan will lose their home..then the producers willl be europe or other regions with temperate climate. After sometime switching to these oils then the price per quantity for those each will get rise due to increase in demand.. more land of those area will be cleared to cope with the new increasing demand...offcourse there will be no orang utan or tropical tiger or elephant will be harmed.. but the ones that will get trouble must be the wolves, bears, european bison, iberian lynx, saiga antelope, european mink...european that, european this...bla bla bla...oh yeah, i am still not talking about those endangered animals in the united state yet...or in russia

@Luana FREYESLEBEN RSPO does have some controversy to it, that's true, but it doesn't mean it's worth nothing. It just means it needs improvement. That's why there are also other initiatives, like POIG, which are striving for that improvement.

Corrupt authorities and tycoons that control palm oil industry must be pressured. and sanctioned. Boycotting palm oil only will suffer more than ten millions of poor labourers in Malaysia and Indonesia. Palm oil is still cheap, versatile, ubiquitous and irreplaceable.
The ongoing destruction of our planets rainforests, suppliers of oxygen to all who live on it, in lieu of palm oil plantations will one day come back to haunt us! And then those living will ask 'but why didn't we stop the destruction of our rainforests when we had the chance to'. But by then it'll be way too late and the damage will be irreversible!

I'd buy more non-palm oil products if i could but you are not being practical i like lots of others "act responsibly" we can't afford to buy this, look i am in love with the idea but not with the reality

you can use research and online alternatives that can be of same or even less cost. I use, for example, bar soap with no palmates in it, or toothpaste. It is a very slight difference. I ve stopped buying snickers, mars, chocolates and am happy to be healthier and spending less. Additionally, buying in bulk is great choice. I buy 10 - 15 kg of rice for about 9 - 12 USD. Just practical approaches. Hope you find yours.
