In September 2019, I hiked to Trappers Peak and Lower Thornton Lake. It was 13.6 miles round trip with 3800 feet of elevation gain. To get to the Thornton Lakes Trailhead, take the Thornton Lakes Road (off of Hwy 20) for about 5 miles. The road is rough at times. The trail starts off relatively flat and then starts to gain elevation after 2 miles. At about 4.5 miles, there is a junction post that gives the direction to Trappers Peak or the Thornton Lakes. I climbed to Trappers Peak first and then when down to Lower Thornton Lake for a swim before heading back to the parking lot.

Me and my buddy backpacked in to Thornton Lakes back in 98. Fly fishing the lower lake was a memory I will never forget. Also a massive thunder storm that night that went on for a couple hours. Not much cover up that high but we got through it . Wonderful video. Thanks for the memories.

@@WithinHikingDistance Bienvenue et merci …oui nous avons eu une bonne et belle été très chaude …plusieurs record de chaleurs brisé. Nous avons fait un total de 24 jours de camping avec notre roulotte ( camping car en France ) dans 4 endroits au Québec et un en Ontario .
