Side note on buying bulbs: don't forget to shop your local independent garden center for fall planting bulbs. They really need this revenue stream as planting season slows. And plant all the shrubs you can in fall. It's kinder on your plants as the soil cools. 😊

You could make a poster size copy of your poem and water color the picture, and frame it for your office or house. Project? I think you should have read the poem. Your such a good story teller 🌞

You have me absolutely addicted to your videos. I can’t wait to see them each day. Thank you for all you do. I am in Georgia zone 7b but you inspire me to get out in my yard and do something. I am battling leukemia and I am in treatment with the hopes of remission in about a year so I only have a few days a week that I feel like working but every day I do I watch you and get my motivation. Again Thank You!!!!

I plant roughly 3,000 to 4,000 bulbs a year. I order a number from Colorblends, and for those of you in the warmer zones they will pre-chill your bulbs and send them to you when it’s the right time to plant. It’s a great affordable resource for large quantities of bulbs. I live in zone 6a, but treat my tulips as annuals as they do not come back reliably.

Will be gorgeous! Can't wait to see where you plant and how well they come up in Spring. I have a LOT of deer pressure, so most bulbs don't work for me. They grow (zone 6b), but most just became sacrificial offerings to the deer (especially tulips). So, now I only grow iris and daffodils since deer don't like. So far, so good.

Janey, your video was chock full of valuable information. I rarely plant bulbs as I am in 10b and don’t have an extra fridge to pre-chill bulbs. In the past, I’ve planted ranunculus, anemones and amaryllis. Now that I’ve seen your video, I’m thinking of trying daffodils and bearded iris too. I love that you focus on higher zones, which is rare in CZcamsland.

You got a few daffodils that I had ordered from Colorsblend. I’m excited to see how yours do and compare to how mine does here in Georgia. FYI if you want your tulips to bloom longer, go out in the early morning before the sun comes up and overhead water them. When I lived in Ohio and did this and my tulips was still fresh looking well into May. Now while Ohio doesn’t get as hot as California or Georgia definitely believe this technique would help your bloom and stay fresh looking long. Much success❀

Thank you so much for all this wonderful information. I live in Melbourne Australia and it’s now 1st day of spring. I was wondering why my first ever tulips were short and little weird looking flowers. Must not get cold enough here with our winters for tulips to just go in the ground, at least I’ll know for next year to put them in a fridge. It will now be interesting to see if my hyacinths will flower. My crocus, snowflakes and daffodils are all flowering.

So excited to see you fixing up this new property!!! I need help in the bulb dept. I fill my flowerbeds with whatever. I like them full, not much dirt showing. So you have to have blank spots for bulbs, right? And when they are done do you just have blank space till next year.... or dig them up (I would not do that, I'm old). I couldn't live with a blank space and I know you do not either. Please enlighten me (does everyone know this already). I love that you overbuy. I'm going to Costco if you can tell me where to put the bulbs, lol.

Bulbs are great tucked in among plants that have a spreading canopy of leaves to avoid bare spots. Like I have daffodils in little clumps mixed with my daylilies, and the daylily foliage comes up to cover the daffodil foliage as it fades. If you want the big dramatic beds of bulbs, though, then you probably need to dig them up or plant shallow rooted annuals over them.

There is a Vitex from PW called Blue Diddley. They are quite small at 3-6 ft tall and wide. Absolutely love that size for a small garden. I am going to be planting 3 of them as patio trees. One company will hold your purchased bulbs with a service fee. Color Blends not sure if they still do this though it’s been a couple of years I haven’t ordered

I enjoyed seeing your choices for this year. You should definitely check out Southern Bulb Company. They have a large selection of heirloom bulbs that are reliable for higher growing zones. Have a great day.

Hey Janey, great video! I’m ordering my bulbs today, so your video really interested me.
I know you said you have ground squirrels now
you might keep an eye out when planting your bulbs our gray squirrels here in Seattle often dig mine up and chomp on them. Just a thought. 🐿

What are your thoughts about a LIVING WALL in the corner behind your video space? I think Red, green, yellow, & variegated leafed plants would look spectacular!! Not sure how much maintenance it would be to keep looking fresh & healthy. Happy Journey ❀❀❀

Janie the pink and blush impression tulips from Costco are fantastic! Tried n true. Used them last few years in pots, beautiful. How will you decide where to put all the bulbs, all that space I wouldn't know where to begin...can only imagine what a display this spring!
