The problem occurs when the people in charge of a certain media alter an established character in an obscene way. When else have you ever seen Alfred with that much fat on him? When was the last time you saw a black, redheaded Barbara Gordon?
I have nothing against fat, or black people, until they start weaponizing those traits about themselves. It's the weaponization that I take issue with.
They are making characters fat that originally were not, for the sake of politics instead of plot. The current idea of body positivity is to make the asinine claim that there is any beauty to be found in obesity, and that it can be considered healthy.

I love(hate) how so many people here clearly haven’t watched the show and are so ill informed about the actual characters. Penguin has very minimal changes to her incarnation of the character, Harley is basically the same person besides the skin tone change and obvious new attitude(but skin color wouldn’t affect that). Barbra and Gordon are, again, identical to their previous and standard incarnations besides the race swap. The skin color change and gender change does 0 things to characters. Make the characters what ever race you want and they’ll stay the same.
And they race swapped another red-haired character.

Two Face is the one who needs to flip the coin, its a psychological compulsion, so other people doing it means nothing to him.
Barbera Gordon being his lawyer is a massive conflict of interest being that her dad is the police chief and both of them are longtime friends and associates.
None of the complaints I listed have anything to do with their sexual preference or skin color.

If you watched the show you’d know that Barbara knows the coin is both heads. She is using that to her advantage. She’s a defense lawyer. Her job is to get people’s sentences as low as possible if they are guilty, or prove their innocence. You’d also know that two face says “I don’t have a lawyer.” It’s possible Barbara could’ve used her influence to choose two face as a client(her dad is police chief after all and this is the 1940’s ish era so it’s not out of the realm of possibilities. Bruce has a dedicated lawyer(Lucious). Harvey doesn’t. It would make sense for Barbra to volunteer to represent him rather than a random other lawyer.

Yea this doesnt make any sense ether the 'client' chooses their lawyer. Not the other way around. Twoface refused her. She just decided he didnt have a lawyer so she was going to be his lawyer now. Its not her choice.
Also because of who her dad is and her dads relationship to Harvey Dent she would NEVER be allowed to represent him because of the obvious conflict of personal interests that brings up.
That series is disappointment in my opinion.

It isn’t forced tho. The characters are roughly the same. The inclusion is also used as plot points for the main characters and gives them a reason and motive for their actions. Gordon, Barbara(these 2 characters don’t even use their diverse skin color as plot points or anything relevant to the story. Interchange skin color and their characters stay exactly the same) and Harley are 95% the same. I’m not educated enough on other incarnations of the detective to explore that argument. Your point is what now?
