This was a 3 1/2 concert but they gave you plenty of chance to breath with MC breaks, a couple of acoustic songs, Saiki alone on piano and a section of slower, calmer songs.
Best guitar vs bass duel in the music business.
Even better without the pointless pause in the middle...
Except the other one. 😊
I have been a fan for 8 years. These ladies are amazing 🤘
Best rock band on the planet. Watch REAL EXISTENCE live and hand on.
Great reaction. "Hate?" was song 27 or the 33 song setlist for the evening. I flew to Japan to see this one live and as far as it being 3hrs and 40mins, but trust me, it was over before I knew it. On their "shorter" standard 2hr shows in the US, it felt like only 30 minutes. The energy and the entertainment value, is through the roof. You come out of the show drained as they lift you so high and then have post concert withdrawals. As the old saying goes..."Time flies when you're having fun." So, so true at a Band-Maid Okyu-ji. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘
Shout out to Gary! Thanks for always pushing for the Maids! PO!🕊
This was a big concert at the end of their 10 year anniversary tour. They performed a total of 33 songs. What stamina!
"10 minutes of limp gymnastics" must be 1 of the better lines in recent history
Hi Dexter Fletcher & his friend. I remember the time Kanami asked me to teach her how to drive. So i drove over to her place & when she came out she said "Thanks Gary-san, now where do you want me to put my golf clubs"?....That's when i suggested tennis instead.😏
🍺🙄
I'm putting a tenner on you to win the Wimbledon finals next year.
I'm so calling you Gary "Haitch" from now on
@GaryHolloway-810 - GARY HOLLOWAY - do you know 'Philomena Cunk' on youtube, she's the Band Maid of comedy.
@@Kevin6059 Gosh thx, Kevin. I twisted my knee this year but next year i will try my best.😁
I've heard them do this one, live, with the same special duel in the middle. (Which doesn't appear in the studio track.) On a smaller stage than this one (in Minneapolis, in the US), but with all the same overwhelming force.
They are an incredible live band.
Band-Maid takes us Back to the Future. These Maids have looked into rock and roll's past and are now telling the world this is the future of rock. Pay attention!!!!!!
They grab you by the ears and will not let go!
i have this three-hour concert dvd and can only watch an hour of it at a time. they give so much energy
You guys have been around for a looooong while. It's good to see you back with our MAIDs ;) .
Yeah, a lot of people have commented that Akane was not seen enough during this song, me included. A camera on her feet would have been nice.
@@johnmatthew102 That would've made you seasick.🤔
@@GaryHolloway-810 people don't realize how disorienting that would be in all actuality.

Hard Rock is still here !! They have got it !!
5 petite Japanese musicians who can musically flog ya like they're champion cage fighters. B-M are so high up in the rock and roll tiers they have to have warning lights for aircraft. Thanks for checking out these amazing Rock Goddesses. What a fcken band Po 👍🍻🍻🍻
Best quote about Band-maid comes from Mr. Rock and Roll said, "No matter what you achieve. Somewhere, there is a Japanese lady in a maid costume doing it better than you."
@@matttate9999 Yep love that one 😁👍🍻
Extremely talented musicians!
Sort of a hybrid of hard rock and metal.
It makes my fingers, wrists, and forearms hurt.😂
The lead singer has a slight Pat Benatar vibe to her voice.
The Maids have an epic live show. Just so much damn talent.
BEST guitar, bass, drums and vocals around. Adds up to the best rock band to ever grace a stage! I LOVE BAND MAID ❤❤
Nooo voto..12/10..best rock live performance last 10 years
Band Maid and Lovebites will always go right into it 100 miles per hour relentlessly skilled instrument attacks that numb the mind and melt the face off
Glad to see you guys back on Band-Maid. .....Cheers
It's a song that's already on the rise,
but it's the battle
between the bass and guitar that elevates it to the next level.❤❤❤
You should check their other live of DON'T YOU TELL ME.
you might enjoy it more
Gary!!!!! 🍺🥴🤘🏻
@@RogerChance5309 I got a shout out, Roger. Have another beer.😁🍻
@@GaryHolloway-810 Mmmmm beer! 🍺😁

The lyrics were written by Saiki (lead vocals) about the husband of a friend who cheated on her during Covid lockdowns. The moral of the story- don't piss off Saiki.
It's amazing how Band-Maid has rewritten the laws of nature: Hate brings Love! 😖--->🎀--->😍

Thats how the best current rock band on the planet does it !!!!!

ありがと〜😊
Thanks for highlighting the Maids ❤
My infamous comment is that this is “my favorite performance of one of my least favorite Band Maid songs.” It’s a super jam for most, but I’m personally more interested in their melodic rock styles. This is their dense, chaotic stuff.
You’ve heard “DICE” and “Freedom,” which are more accessible to my ears.
Here are a few of my favorites for you to consider in the future:
“Thrill” OMV
“Choose Me,” OMV
“Real Existence,” LIVE
“the non-fiction days,” OMV
“Moratorium,” LIVE
“Daydreaming,” OMV
Not coincidentally, these are all from earlier in their career, affectionately known as the “Tiny Hat Era”
RIP Tiny Hat 🎩 😢
BEST SONG EVER❤
This was the 27th song of their 33 song set. Energetic as well as being THE best Hard Rock band in the world! The drummer, Akane, put in a lot of work during the breakdown but gets overlooked by the bass and guitar brilliance on display - Akane isolated drum audio on HATE? live at Yokohama Arena - czcams.com/video/Lc6hy30kUlE/video.htmlsi=1zJQdYQq2B1OxloQ
Best rock band on the planet, po!
Notice that Kanami and Misa both kneel when the other is soloing?
As soon as Kanami reaches Misa, she kneels. It's harder to see Misa, but she does it too!
A sign of respect. Such a Japanese thing to do!🤘✌️
MISA!!!! MISA!!! MISA!!! 🥃🥃🥃 another great "conversation " between MISA and Kanami 🤙🏽
His Holiness, TinyHat-san applauds your review. Welcome to the "Unseen World."
Knowing the context of the song and the lyrics, go back and watch the bass and guitar battle and this time watch it as an argument. An argument between the guy(bass) and the girl(guitar). The bass starts the argument, the guitar answers back, the bass argues more, the guitar answers back again, the bass gets snarky and the guitar mocks the bass. They begin "yelling" at each other, aggressively playing at each other, but eventually the girl (guitar) has the last word and finishes the argument. And the singer with that final extra angry LALALALALA! (I can picture her stomping her foot down hard) is...*chefs kiss* the perfect ending to this song.
The way Akane remembers four hours of manic detail is (wait for it) she has a photographic memory and sees the written score in her mind's eye. If she changes a detail she will pencil in the change in her actual score and remember it from that. All the women work a bit like that which is how they remain so calm and tight (and can switch around the playlist) because basically they are a "Rock quintet" playing from a score in their heads like a classical group.
Everything is different about these girls as a músical group and a bunch of friends.
This is the most Japanese of bands deeply rooted in their fantastic musical education. Kanami only listened to Chopin until her mid teens and played piano. Akane played trombone until about the same time. MISA studied live mixing in her first year at uni and only then majored in electric bass.
I really she thinks about him all the time!
🤘Love Band Maid!!!!🤘
I _lurve_ me some Band-Maid. *9.3+* Glorious guitar vs bass battle. Apparently written about a friend's partner. I imagine if that was about their own relationships, fans might turn offenders' lives into scripts for dystopian Scarlett Johansson SciFi films. 😱
I was into "Prog Rock" in the '70s (elder brother's tastes rubbed off), so Band-Maid are in my happy place. 😀
Best Wishes. ☮
First of all, this is a "live" performance. All of the girls are world-class performers. The singers and chorus are top-notch. Above all, you'll feel why they are said to be the best rock group in the world today. It is often said that rock was perfected in Japan. There are countless world-class rock groups active in Japan today. Enjoy. (Translation software used)
Nice track, loads of energy and attitude.
Nothing better than Akane beating the drums into submission.
Oh, and concerning the energy level in this song. I think this was the 27th (!!!) song of the Yokohama concert, performed about three hours or more into it.
Their Yokohama version of "Don't you tell ME" is well worth your time, too.
After being sans le yootoob for a while, it was nice to come back to such an emotional ballad. I feel quite choked up. * coughs *
Ahem. Not my cup of cha at all BUT I did like that bass bit. They're a fantastic band, just not my thing 😊
(Get well soon, Gary).
Edit: Your OCD has nothing on mine, BP1. I felt like I needed half a dozen ears and eyes to keep up with it all.
Cheers Tundiel.👍
If you want the perfect antonym for Hate?, watch Never Ending Story Live from the same concert. Have your tissues handy.
When you realise that the "good old days" are yet to come.
"You only like them because they're cute" follows the savagest bloke roast in art.
Hi guys....Yep they have the "pedal to the metal" in this one..🤣 If you want to get your heart rate down, try listening to Aurora - A Soul With No King (live performance) | VEVO.....and you know Aurora...a totally different music experience but like Band-Maid VERY talented and a gift to all music lovers......Band-Maid for the highway and Aurora for the backroads...🤘
Aurora reaction is out soon, already recorded it 👍🏻👍🏻😂🥳
I like your style gentlemen. I find myself struggling to listen to any other contemporary artist(other than wunderkind Yoyoka Soma drummer extraordinaire) than the Maids. I can handle the Let's Go's because their songs last a couple of minutes and their energy is hilarious! But other bands, no matter how skilled, can't hold a candle to BandMaid in my heart and ears! Thank you for your review!!!
Welcome & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this very performance at the venue on Nov.26, last year. Very exciting 3-hour-40-minute-long show with 33-song setlist. (Happy fatigue thereafter 😄)
By the way, do you know there was a special concert by Band-Maid & The Warning on June 12 in Tokyo? I went to see it. What a bliss! It looked to me that Paulina and Akane literally and happily competed to see which drummer can break their bass drum first in the joint finale 🤣
Yep! I'm late but had a good reason and wasn't old age!! ROCK ME Band-Maid!!!!
Brother, if this one hit your OCD, be very careful on their latest drop Protect You- it will destroy you. It's like 7 different songs, smashed together in 3 minutes to dwarf star density, a wall of sound Phil Spector could only dream of creating. Geebus.
Now on to you fellows- shame on getting so far behind Band Maid vids!! Shame because I love your reactions and your set-up, great view of yourselves and the vid, well done indeed.
Now lads it's catch up time...
Great reaction guys and the singer Saiki wrote the lyrics; there was a lot of cheating occurring during covid lock down reported in the press at that time and Saiki was pissed. The singer LISA (a friend of drummer Akane) was also affected by this as her husband was caught cheating and created a big scandal. Hope this helps Gary get off his lazy butt.
Hello Brit Pops 1&2, I thought I'd suggest a new artist to give a listen, if interested. "Leonard Cohen - Dance Me to the End of Love (Official Video) --This song by Leonard Cohen is from his album called "Various Positions" released in 1984. This haunting track, with its evocative instrumentals is reminiscent of traditional Klezmer music. And is often referred to as one of his popular tunes. Interestingly, although structured as a love song, it's inspiration lies in the holocaust, Cohen revealed that the song was influenced by the image of a string quartet playing classical music in the concentration camps while fellow prisoners were being killed. The lyrics poetically blend themes of love, surrender, and the consummation of life. And as always, I enjoyed hanging out and rocking with you two fellas. Thanks for sharing we appreciate you. (P.S. It's me guys I kind of changed my username)
Cohen was a genius.
Well dun mates! Slainte ☘️ 🇺🇸
This is song #27 of 33 song production. Start to finish absolutely fantastic! Would really like to know the tea that they drink for the energy that they have. BAND MAID TEA to kick start the day.
Japanese do not care so much for standard western structure with predefined patterns for chorus and bridges and stuff. Which is not so surprising. Partly because it is our thing but also because Japanese songs tends to be more complicated and thought out. More innovative if you so wish. But actually, I am an older guy and my main intake of music in my youth was the 1970-ies. Lots of stuff then just did not follow rules. You can take such a mainstream group as Beatles. They have written tons of innovative and fantastic songs that do not follow any rules at all.
So, Mr left Britt dad, I do not give you high scores for giving lower scores for not following standard patterns. You get a 6.5! I think that not following patterns is a plus, if it is well done.
🤘🤘🤘
🤘🤘
Don't worry, this concert was only three and a half hours long. But most of their shows around half that long. This was the 10 Year Anniversary Tour finale. But anyway, Akane's last name is pronounce Hee-Row-Sey.
🕊️🎶🎵🎶🎵
This song is Band Maids equivalent of Lovebites Judgement Day or Shadowmaker
😱 you didn’t really stop in the middle of a solo did you?
You can only shake your head in despair
Band-Maid actually (usually - because of course they'll ḍo something different just to mess with our minds occasionally) have a few "classic Band-Maid song structures." The more impressive thing is how by the second verse, one's thinking, "Wait, how did we get *here* from the intro and first verse!?!?" And then there's a bridge and some other stuff you never saw coming. And THEN they wrap the whole thing up in a tidy bow at the end - like their logo, literally the back of a maid outfit.
If the musicianship were off the scale, what dragged it down to 8.4?
Score is a bit of fun :) just the song maybe not for our virgin ears lol 😂
Stopped in the solo😢
When is a right time to stop during a Band-Maid song 😂😂
