Glad to see you sharing that owning a boat is not all rainbows and sunshine. Just like life!
Yes, the happiest days of a boat owner are when they buy a boat and when they sell it 🚤
Yeah, definitely lots of headaches and lots of money but in my opinion its all worth it in the end
@@BrandonGrossI was just about to say that
That is why B.O.A.T stands for “bust out another thousand”.
You have twin engines, take some time and practice maneuvering the boat without turning the wheel. For instance, you can spin the boat nearly in place by engaging one engine forward and one in reverse and modulate the throttles to achieve desired turn speed and direction. A good captain with twin engines doesn't need the wheel to dock the boat. Just takes some practice.
@@wisconsineaglesfan7925 for inboards absolutely. But with stern drives, steering still helps a lot
I work in Pittsburgh on a regular basis. I can help you replace the seals in the hydraulic system. Can even get you OEM fluid for free. Let me know.
That would be amazing!
MVP!🎉
The wife and I live part time on a 25ft Maxum cruiser. I, like you, do ALL my own maintenance. So I definitely feel your pain as far as accessibility in these things. They're NOT built for ease of maintenance. So yes, DEFINITELY have someone there with you once you get down into position. You will NOT want to get in and out. Good Luck and keep the boat content coming!
Nice! That’s the way to do it. Yeah i definitely do not want to crawl back out for every single tool needed haha
Love your posts. I lived on a 51' power yacht for 4 years and loved every moment of it. Bought a van and living the van life now but want to get back into a liveaboard sail yacht and travel the world on the ocean. Missed the boat life watching your posts...thanks for the content
51’ is huge! Would love to get there someday. Enjoy the van life!
Brandon, if you goto Walmart, pick up a "sewing needle - should be pretty cheap, you could use that to get that thiny to come out of the nail bed if you're careful. Hope that helps. When do we see you and Sarah again? :)
It's super painful, I think I'm just going to leave it for now haha. and good question. I'm gonna have to get her out here soon
Used to work for RG group. They don’t do hydraulic repairs much anymore but the seal work is pretty simple. You would need some decent hammers and punches but to reseal a cylinder is a few bucks vs a few thousand to replace
You're doing great.
Cost of a boat or home or van: They all have costs and repair issues. The more you learn, the more you do and then the better off you will be.
Maybe consider a small trawler, I think it would fit your bill.
FUEL: when you go fill up the jugs, fill up your vehicle then using an electric pump drain your vehicles tank into the boat. That should reduce your number of trips to the gas station.
I've been looking into trawlers actually, already trying to prep for my next boat upgrade. And transferring fuel from my van's tank would be way too much work. I don't mind using the 5 gallon tanks
unfortunately, i cant help with the volvo penta's, but as far as your fuel gauge issue goes, get yourself some garmin gas flow sensors (if you have a garmin unit). Gas gauges on boats are notoriously always a little off and nothing you do will make them read accurately. I installed garmin gas flow sensors (model number GFS10) and connected them to my chart plotter. I can now see how much fuel i'm burning in real-time, and it has an added benefit of calculating your speed vs. fuel flow and giving you a mpg reading in real-time as well. This will help you operate your boat more economically. Also, you can program your fuel tank size into your chart plotter and it will calculate how many gallons you have remaining. I don't even bother looking at my gas gauge anymore. As far as your hydraulic power steering rack goes, I'm sure you'll be able to accomplish this with minimal blood sweat and tears. Just be sure not to drop tools and parts into the abyss as you learned with your sea strainer nut. try putting an aluminum baking tray down underneath where you're working so if something is to fall, you've got a good chance of catching and retrieving it. good luck and happy boating!!
aluminum baking trays yep i use them to on stuff i work on, i hear it ting an they dont bounce to far
Wow that garmin sounds like a dream, I’m gonna look into that for sure. And yeah. The steering rack will just take me some time haha
Brandon, why am I hooked on watching you live on a boat? Keep up the great content!
I really do appreciate the support my friend! ❤❤
If you like this comment Brandon should keep the boat for forever
Or keep upgrading until I have a megayacht
Cool boat! It’s good to see someone who just jumps right in and learns as you go. That’s the good life! Best of luck to you!😊
Maneuvering a twin screw boat will become second hand with experience. Once you’ve operated a twin screw you will never want to operate a single screw again.
Our gas in North Texas is $3.09 right now. Anything more than that makes me wanna cry! Lol Safe travels!
Sounds like I should be boating in the Texas lakes haha
@@BrandonGross Agreed!!! Come on down! Lol It's gorgeous here!
Car gas in the UK is about £1.50 per litre right now… works out about $7.30 😱 per gallon!
@@jamesclaydon6065 That's double what it is here! Eek!
$4.50 for regular in Northen California Right Meow.
I hope you can fix your boat yourself Brandon. That's going to be a tough Job to do though, but if it saves you Money it's worth it. Take care and stay safe love you ❤❤
Thanks! It’s definitely going to be a difficult one! We will see how it goes
@@BrandonGross You're Welcome! You got this Brandon I've seen you fix all kinds of things ❤️
Hey Brandon! Sorry you’ve got issues with the boat! Hopefully you can fix it yourself and save some moola! I love how you know how to do so many things!! Jack of all trades!! Very admirable and impressive!! Dang that sure was a lot of gas! Hope your trip to the city goes well! Lookin forward to the next video!! Stay safe! Love you! ❤
After multiple trips down hell hole you can definitely make it to the back side of your engine. Good luck bro.
Haha who knew that hell hole would end up helping me later in life
@@BrandonGrossI was thinkin that same thing! Your experience in hell hole will definitely help you get back in that spot!
Boats are fun, I’ve had them my whole life. I just sold my 42 Bertram. But, they are not cheap. One major repair can wipe you out if you’re not fairly well off. I blew a motor on one boat back in 2001. $10,000 to have that fixed. No doubt a lot more today. But they are fun!
Hope you get your problems fixed very soon. You‘re always so chilled…!
Thanks! Gonna start to tackle the issue soon
Too bad your boat broke. Hope you got the boat fix. Hope your leg gets better. Love your boat adventures now. ❤❤❤❤❤
Hey from Regina, Saskatchewan! Awesome vid! I have a 25' cabin cruiser here on the prairie.. one of the bigger boats on the lake, love it! Lookin forward to seeing how the repair goes on the ps line. Cheers!
Good luck with the big repair. i think I would freak out being in such a confined area trying to fix something. As always, love your videos!!!
Im used to being in super tight caves so I’ll probably feel right at home 😂
Brandon. Good luck with your repairs, I hope you mamange to do it without complications.
Love it Brandon. Great vids.
Cheers! Glad you're enjoying the videos!
Often the fuel gauges are set up so at zero they have a 20% reserve, mine actually show the reserve below the zero on the gauge, so that might be the situation albeit I’d check before running her to zero 😬
I bought an 89 Celebrity 27 ft cabin cruiser a few years ago. Lots of work later I can finally cruise the Penobscot River and Maine coast confidently. I know what you mean when you say you can’t describe what it feels like!
You have to clean around the gas cap area, all that black dirt and mildew around could go to the gas tank . great video
Another great video as always, keep them coming
Thanks! Plenty more to come!
I hope you get everything fixed. Boats are like Harleys expensive lol
thank you! Yes they are haha
Great video. Sucks about the hydraulic leak. Gus from “In Too Deep” is awesome! Love his content. Too bad you’re not closer to his location, he’s a master mechanic.
Yeah I’d love to meet up with him eventually
Great info on boat
Keeping the wind astern helps a lot with the boat's maneuverability
We love every moment on the water whether moving or while sitting at the slip
Key West for the Winter. What an epic trip that would be especially by Atlantic Intercoastal or Ohio down the Mississippi and across the Gulf. That would be epic. Neat thing with River travel, the current will help save on gas as it pushes you along the whole way.
Hi, Brandon keep having lots of fun and stay safe
Subbed when u bought this boat - loving it so far btw - will probably binge-watch all the rest and catch up!
Hell yea dude! Lovin the boat series, that hydraulic line is definitely achievable. Smoke alittle smoke , drink alittle drink and party on.
Thanks! Very glad to hear you're liking the boat series! Gonna attack this hydraulic issue very soon
Loyal algorithm feeder here! As always, thanks for sharing, Brandon❣️
Thank you as usual!! That algorithm is hungry! haha
When you have to crawl and get into tight spaces; its called "boat yoga" 😂
well I got lots of that coming up!
One thing that would make fewer trips to the gas station would be to syphon your cars gas tank leaving enough
to make it back to the station.
You should take the boat to steeler games this year and take pictures of what the stadium looks like lit up from the water 😮
BOAT@ BUST OUT ANOTHER THOUSAND.i still love the boat and that you live in it full time.
It’s well worth the headaches for the good times
Great videos Brandon!!
Beautiful life
$3.89/gallon? ouch, here in Dallas today its only $2.78/gallon at the Walmart murphys station... and windy or not, you have twin screws, so, should be easy to navigate, like my Searay sundancer 340. You can literally rotate from center of boat!
stumbled on this and like it got me thinking if i got a 55 ft
you may want a trolling motor mounted up front to help maneuver!
TUFFIOM 35 Gallon Gas Caddy With Wheels, Fuel Transfer Tank
Takes up less foot protection not than those cans and you can just paint it to match your boat and leave it on deck.
Parking is a pain❤. You got this Brandon even if it’s not so fun.
Never touch the wheel or throttles docking
Bummer your having issues with it but just like a used car, it will have issues...hope your doing good w/your knee and it heals soon...and hope you get that help you need w/your boat!
Even the best kept things have some issues, it's just what buying used is like, and same here. I hope it heals soon too!
Great job fixing the problems
Thanks!
Great content
I love your boat
Thanks!
I’m loving watching these x
You’re talking about Gus aren’t you!? His channel is In Too Deep! If I’m correct, I love his stuff too, and if I’m not, you should check him out! Anyway, enjoying your content about the boat, thanks for sharing with us!
Buy a siphone pump. Fill up the van the siphone the gas out of it.
The van only holds 17 gallons haha won’t really be much help
I was thinking about doing the same as you on a similar style and size of your boat too am in the uk
Great video!!❤
Good luck with fixing your boat.
Marina gas is more expensive than the gas station. Just a fact of owning a boat
Hope to see you travel in the houseboat and eventually upgrade to bigger houseboats (yachts mega yachts)
Buy 100 ft hose and carb fuel pump it fill boat from van lol use your head make life easier
Not easy as it seems.
@@woke72 what's hard about my explanation besides you to lazy to do it really carry hose from van to boat add a pump plug it in job done asap
Was that my boy Gus from the channel "In Too Deep" you were watching?
GUS!!
Living full time on a cabin cruiser! That wont work so well.
why not? It's been incredible so far
I got 5.7gxi and I had a bad leak of steering fluid. it turned out there is an oil cooler on the back side of the egine, close to the steering actuator, but on engine side. so it was leaking because of a loose clamp. so check that one first, maybe it will be a cheap fix.
More than often when docking in tight spaces, you are better off backing into the spot.
You said drop a random comment nice boat man keep up the work
Hi well looks like heaps of fun with the Rope swing. Can’t do it in any of the rivers here in Australia. We have bull sharks and they will take a big chunk out of you LOL and if you get up far north Queensland, the crocodiles get ya 4 to 5 m long and they’re nasty little bastards anyway you’re pretty blessed. Keep up the good work
Australia is just a wild place haha
I don’t think it matters what it is called as long as you know what’s wrong with it lol hope everything goes well for your boat and not too much $$$
Yooo love that you are watching in too deep! Great CZcamsr and love watching your videos by the way!
Thanks! Yeah he seems like a good guy! Definitely want to meet up at some point
Nothing like waking up to no AC and the smell of ‘river water’.
I wake up everyday nice and cold. I love it
sweet life. living in a boat would be rad. id do it. ur a knowledgeable and professional person.
Thank you!
I hope you get your steering leak fixed before undertaking your big voyage down river!
Loving the boat Brandon
Thanks! Glad to hear you guys are enjoying these videos!
They make 25 gallon fuel kaddys even has wheels and an electric fuel pump with nossle they are fairly cheap and that way you could make 1 trip.....just a thought love the videos keep them coming
Thanks! The ones I’ve seen can’t be laid on their side and they’re too tall to stand up in my van :(
Brandon you are doing great.
Thank you!
I have been hesitant on buying a boat for years because of the age old acronym….B.O.A.T. Bust out another thousand. Yea it’s a lot of money but still looks like a great life lol.
Good luck dude!
It's the truth, especially on bigger boats. But in my opinion its all worth it
More complications than the school bus and the Ambo, bloody expensive too.
You have no idea.
Good show!
You got this dude. 💪😎🍻
Thanks!!
Props for solo docking but from other comments you made, you’ve moved from a single engine to twins… twins are a piece of cake compared to a single engine. We are at an often windy Marina and it’s been great docking with twins, just pilot it like a zero turn mower and don’t touch the wheel docking/leaving… Marina fees are quite reasonable but the gas is a pillaging. We aren’t allowed to fill from cans ( certified clean Marina ) but the two fuel docks right around the corner charge about a $.40/gal premium over the cost at a land based gas station.
Bust Out Another Thousand! Ain’t boat-life grand??? 😎
A needle is great for getting splinters out hurts but never fails
Gonna have to try
Oh man, you have Volvo Pentas, made that mistake with my Four Winns, avoid them on you next boat. Your wallet will thank you...
on my boat i just add the steering fluid into the steering wheel who cares if it leaks .. I also have a 99 34 sea ray sundancer with twin v drives ..
My bilge was getting super full of ATF, and i was having to fill it constantly. Much nicer peace of mind now
Dang I wish you were closer to Ohio. I’d so help u do this job. There not bad at all to do.
Oh damn we're not allowed to gas are boats that way
Take Sarah with you. We miss her!!!!
Your boat is messier than my van
Woah now. I don’t think that’s possible 😂
thank you for these videos
You are absolutely welcome my friend!
Love it
Love your channel
lol 😂 you’ll be ok there pal , I think my parents especially my dad did it to me on purpose lol
i believe the proper boating term for ram is..."thingie"....lol
😂😂
136 gallons to fill up ? Get a sail !!!
nice boat brandon
thanks!
Love the boat
Love that boat
Hey, what is the name of the stuff that helps your memory? I forgot.
