- A phantom with ” White-tailed Eagle ” mark on the tail no longer flies in the sky.
If you see it, it's a real phantom.
There are still 301 squadron and 501 reconnaissance phantoms at Hyakuri base. However, these are also scheduled to retire in 2020.

That's why Iran is such a chad at maintaining these things
I wonder if they will have them in air shows or museums
@@IvstvnK4hgnte Iran has more respect for these planes than the US , they have updated them , something the US should have done.
They look so good in the special colors.... F-4 now a part of history :(
I loved being a crew chief on the F4D Phantom in Bitburg Germany 22nd Tac Fighter Squadron 1966 to 1969. Really loved running it up on the trim pad in and out of after burner.

The most beautiful airplane of all time. I really hope countries or people out there that is in possession of this beauty would be able to keep at least one in mint flying condition. The world and our new generations need to see this beauty grace the sky once in a while, to remind them how history, needs, technology and esthetics combined to form the soul of beauty.

The end of an era... I admit I had tears streaming down my face watching these amazing machines last flight.
Me too!
A magnificent era of aviation is coming to an end. The F4 Phantom was the first plane that could "do it all". Loved these A/C so much as a kid that I became an engineer for McDonnell Douglas in adult life.

It's just like when the Tomcats were retired, it seems like losing a old dear friend. Thinking of them being scrapped brings a tear to my eye.
Tell me about it, a few weeks back I realised that with the recent retirement of our last Tornados all front line RAF types from when I was a kid are now retired. Jaguar, Harrier, Phantom, Tornado GR1/4, Tornado F.3... all gone.
Were losing all the legends. Gonna be shedding a lot of tears like i did when the Navy retired the Tomcat.
Tomcats Forever ! VF-111, VF-124
FallenPhoenix I think there are still some tornados left in Germany and Italy
@@FallenPhoenix86 and when I was a kid, EE lightning and Hawker Hunter, plus the Vulcan too real classics
I ache to see them going away. I'm 62 and as a boy I loved their hulking, muscular stance. They are filled with innovation, power, speed, weapons-everything we needed to fight the evil the world throws at us. Thank you McDonnell Douglass
Even if they are gone.
Phantoms' memories are Phorever.
I live in Tsukuba, Ibaraki, and had the pleasure to watch some of these F-4s (along with F-15s) perform at nearby Hyakuri Air Base a few times. My wife and son were lucky enough to see this last air show with the F-4s in their full "Eagle" livery. Thank you 301st and 302nd for all of your fine service - we'll be sad to see the Phantoms retired.
Please preserve some of these beautiful birds.
A great farewell to the old but still one of the greatest multi role fighter in the world. Hate to see you, no longer flying.
drian mortiz this is the same that is happening with the falcons and we need to save as many as possible to remind future generations of the past and the roles that planes flew is not forgot
Beautiful to see these birds in action once more. We retired our F4 fleet in 2013. Greetings from Germany.
This airplane has been flying longer than I've been alive. It was on the frontline when I went into the military, flew wild weasel missions when I was in the first Gulf War and lasted longer than my military career just too finally retire. As one of the most awesome looking and interesting aircraft around, it will continue too fly on in my memories and on CZcams.

I didn't think that a video about planes could make me cry. This video brought tears to my eyes! This was such a beautiful tribute to these old war-birds done with exquisite cinematography and music. Simply beautiful.
First jet capable of flying straight up and overcome gravity, that was a big deal back in the 60's.👍
Lightening surely the first?
@@stephenreynolds6239 yes it is americas proof that with enough thrust a brick can fly
@@stephenreynolds6239 Pondered that... prototype was flying in '58, empty weight just over 30Klb, engines reheating are putting out 17,845lbf each for 35,690lbf thrust... 5000lb more than empty so it's definitely possible. Now, second part... the EE Lightning was flying in 1954 as a prototype, the F.6 version's engines do 32,000lbf reheat combined, but empty weight is 31,000lb... there's not a lot of freedom there.
I think you *might* get T/W ratio over unity on an EE Lightning, but you'd be taking off with so little fuel you may be gliding back down after your first attempt. The F-4 appears on paper to be capable of T/W >1 with a fair amount of fuel.
The F-15 though, holds a record for entering supersonic flight... vertically.
@@mfree80286 Pretty hard to fly an airplane at empty weight - it's going to need a little gas. The F-15 Eagle was the first fighter to be able to "accelerate" vertically.
Powerfully artistic, and artistically powerful! Thumbs up!
I-300 great job as always, you not only capture the beauty and also the power of F-4 Phantom. Even if it's old it's awesome.🇯🇵💪

Very sad!!! I grew up with this F-4 Phantom legend!!! Goodbye legend of sky. Excellend Video thank you sooooooo much
That’s a right pretty F-4 there JAF. Love the scheme, hope it lives on with future endeavors.

This is the best F-4 video I have ever seen. The music makes engine noise more peaceful.
Worked on the "N" and "S" version of this ol bird in the 80's with VMFA 112 at NAS Dallas as an electrician. They were a nightmare to maintain but were a beauty to behold when airborne. I remember sitting in my car on Jefferson St. at the end of the runway getting a rush from the sound of them taking off. I believe the version shown in this video is the "J" model with leading edge flaps and retrofitted with smokeless engines. I have many stories to tell about this icon of an airplane. Thank you very much for putting this video together.
The Meanest looking Aircraft in the History of Aviation period...👍
The landing take at 2:48 just broke my heart...
A Master Piece of video 1-300.👍👍👍👍👍 Good job Sir, Good Job indeed.
What a Super Generational Workhorse and the Statistics to match... May she rest comfortably in retirement, definitely a beauty in her time.
Beautifully filmed and the music was well chosen. I was moved to tears by the beauty of these machines and the dedication of the people who fly and maintain them, all the action f-4s have seen all over the world, all the maintenance hours and care over a span of decades and decades. The passage of time is inexorable, but they served capably for so, so long. I’m so glad we have these videos to help remember these aircraft. I’m just sad their time is past, even if I know - “don’t be sad it’s over, be glad it happened.”

The best phantom videos for sure. Thank you for letting me to enjoy this great fighter. Now we can keep something for next generations. I served in the IAF during the 80's so fortunatelly saw the F-4's and A-4's in real. I watch your phantom video's over and over. Thank you
Love the paint jobs on these Beautiful Eagles! The most Iconic Bird of Prey of my time, born when i was!
One of the most beautiful jets ever to fly , long live the F4 Phantom !!
The Ole Lead Sled! I hated to see her go in the U.S. and I hate to see her go in Japan as well.
The Japanese, in my humble opinion, are some of the most professional and precise aviators in the world.
Also, whom ever filmed this did an amazing job with their camera work!
Very Nice indeed.

Affectionately known as "The Bus" to Viet Nam pilots, the F4J Phantom was, to my tastes, one of the most beautiful fighters to have ever taken to the skies.
Saved the lives of many men in the Nam.
I remember seeing these aircraft fly over New Orleans which were part of the Air Guard and watching the F-4 perform at the Air Show. They have a long history. They will be missed.

Awesome videos! Congrats!!

@Henry - Details please! Website?!
Having seen these fly over Japan for years it'll be sad to finally see them go. They might be old, but they've been good enough in Japanese hands to give the Chinese pause for thought. Beautiful footage, editing and music. Respect. お疲れ様でした。
That is really a shame. So sad. That jetplane is one of the most beautifull designs ever made. Even its name is so well suited for it.
I'm really sad they will ground them forever. A real legend.

少しだけググってみましたが、デビューから今年で49年だそうで、ベトナム戦争当時からよくぞ今までアジア、そして日本の空を守ってくれました。

It breaks my heart to see them go... Hopefully they keep some of them functional to show them around every now and then.

Damn I miss our Phantoms ( Kurnass ). Cut my teeth as an airframe mechanic on the Phantom, B-check & A-check. Thank you for the spectacular film quality, a real credit to this iconic jet. Regards from Israel.
Excellent videography, excellent editing, great job, the best yet. 99.9% of aviation videos are about as boring and unimaginative as watching paint dry! Thank you!
I love the black and white paint scheme, making this video one of the most interesting of your productions, but "paradise of phantoms" is no 1

Brilliant slow footage showing all the parts working, better than one of those "walk round" books. Superb tandem landing and that extremely low level pass - wow!!!
Some of the most beautiful footage I've seen thus far of the Phantom! This aircraft is a symbol of pride for our nation as we put everything into this design and the ingenuity at the time was remarkable. I'm very proud of the fact the JSDF did an amazing job not only in maintenance but also in a faithful reproduction of an American Icon. I'm happy and proud that it was able to serve your nation and protect your national sovereignty.
Stunning video. I know music over these videos is not always liked but you got a perfect blend of atmosphere from the music with the noise of the jets.
Beautiful. And I really sadly for your f35 one that crashed in the sea.
Tears in my eyes, man. Absolutely awesome video, as usual.
Your videos have given me enough inspiration that I haven't flown anything but the JASDF livery F-4 in the Prepar3D flight simulator for the last 2 months or :)
Very nice video of this beautiful airplane...Goodbye Phantom :(

Phantoms remind me of my dear Father, who used to bring me to work with him at NAS Miramar, god bless his soul. I'd get to walk up to the Phantoms, touch them, and on various occasions get to take a seat in them. When I see an F-4, I think of my Dad. Good to see this video, and good to see other people sentimental about this aircraft. Good Job, guys. You make those Phantoms look graceful and fierce.
That's right! It'll always be NAS Miramar!! Home of Topgun and the Pacific Fleet Fighters!
Beautiful and powerful jet of the ages! Well done video and music score! Thank you!
Thank you for this great video!
So beautiful to see those birds fly and so sad that they are being retired now. 😢
May the F4 Phantom Rest In Peace for the nations that retired it. It served the US air force and USN from 1959-1996. For Britain it served from 1968-1994. And for Germany 1969-2013
1-300 you remind me of a very well known aero photgrapher from Japan whose pictures of jets are among the best in the world. He worked for many airforces trough the years and he has this talent of taking just the perfect picture, framing etc. For me you are the movie equivalent of him. Your videos of aircrafts just around the base (difficult subject as you are not in a backset directing a photoshoot) gets to be the most photogenic photography ever seen. Congrat.
another retirement for such an iconic aircraft, thanks for the time and services, Phantoms!
They are beautiful videos of a great craft "Phantoms "for ever.
Really great video. ありがとございます。Please keep posting more F-4EJ videos.
Thank you so much for uploading. Wonderful video 🇯🇵🇬🇧
Its like they're howling for the last time...beautiful plane, beautiful camera work, superb video!
Very nice tribute to an amazing aircraft. Please find a way to preserve some of these birds. Future generations deserve to feel their chests thump when a flight of F-4s flies over low with afterburners lit.
Oh man! When I was a kid, these things were THE plane every schoolboy fighter jock wanabe drooled over. I cannot count the number of models, toys and drawings I've made or had of the Phantom. She was the workhorse of my generation, and even when the "new kids" on the block rolled out(F-15, F16) she was there in the background doing her job with skill and efficiency.
Watching my childhood first love depart to the west, I am increasingly aware that I too creep towards my own final mission. Your multiple homages to the beautiful Phantom are second to none and always bring tears.
Such a painfully beautiful woman...
I have seen many splendid tributes to many a beautiful aircraft, including my treasured F-14 Tomcat, but I must admit, this is one of the finest tributes to an iconic plane I have ever seen anywhere. Period. I'm old enough to have seen this marvelous beast fly. As one pilot I watched once said, "When you strapped on a Phantom, and you brought those J-79's up to power, you knew you were strapping on a manly piece of equipment."
Watching this, I was truly moved, especially as I thought of all those Vietnam crews, from all the branches, as well as the Israeli Air Force crews, who rode this jet into battle, some never to return. It made generations of maintainers into grown ups, and itself a legend.
Thank you Phantom, for all you've done. You long ago earned your place in the pantheon of magnificent aircraft.
You guys did it up right. Thanks for capturing the last chapter of the F-4 so beautifully.
+1-300
back in the day we used to watch these take off every weekend from Luke Air Force Base in tandem when they would go on training missions.... full afterburner takeoff
The Japanese, without a doubt, had the most beautifully & spectacularly painted F-4s... simply stunning!
