Indeed sri lanka has a good strategic position and we have same culture and sri lanka was part of bharat during many indian empires like chola empire but at the current scenario Sri Lankan people have rivalry between them between sinhalese and Tamil speaking and it's ports are under china and a lot of debt and corruption due to family politics and combining it with india will make india to invest a lot of it's assets to stabilise lanka and a lot of governments attention has to be given there but it will be bad for india as after Corona epidemic and rus ukraine war already indian economy is affected and also china can pressurise india and west can discriminate india saying india united lanka because it was in crisis and india is bad which can affect our relationship with western countries and hence it will only cause problems to India and joining sri lanka is useless. But when india becomes economically and militarily advanced like in 10 or 20 years then it is a possibility and we can invest in sri lanka and make it another indian state and also nepal but not currently. Sri lankan people are responsible for it and why should indian people waste their assets for that when they need it the most currently. There is a lot of unemployment in india and also clashes with china and increase in terrorist activities from Pakistan, why to waste our time and resources on lanka which is not worth but can become a problem instead. Isn't it? We have to wait for it and also lankan people need to have a will to unite with india otherwise it will only cause problems to India

Just look, even though the west has left behind thier colonial states and gave them "independence", they built up a time bomb under everyone one of them by creating and keeping the world economic stranglehold in the west. So every potential superpower country will become a hostage to this situation. Russia is facing this now becoz thier economy is weaker. China thinks it can challenge that dominance with russia at its side, but I belive they are very mistaken. russia needs to join hands with china and india if you really want to create a new future economic model which is independent can break the whole world out of the western dominance in order to break them. If India rises with democratic principles and follows the protocols with the standard norms (like UN etc), then the US will have no issues.
It was only till 1991 India opened up. The west is fearful for anyone who follows Communist practices. India has been a non-alignment stance for a while, causing some suspicion amongst the west in regards to where India stands.

This is because of the same democratic values and capitalism which was used to make money on India's problems by the west, their Media totally has made the mindset of their people to take India in a bad light. India needs none Ideology to fear except its own internal forces that stop it from taking the path of aggression, expansion and dominance. That is what India needs aswell as a cultural revival.

After India opened up, and embraced western values (democracy and capitalism), it started to form stronger bonds. Yes, the media does portray India in a bad light. Its getting better though.
