Protip: The 3090 isn't what makes this PC fast, it's actually the flames painted on the case that boost the various clocks in this system!
Put racing stripes over it to make it even faster!

3090 is the slowest part of the system
See, but Linus is smart as well. The speed is great! But speed = heat! That's why the base coat is blue, to keep things cool.
Thank you so much for taking me up on my offer and flying me out. It was a crazy week, and I had an absolute blast. The team you have is amazing to work with, and I couldn't be happier with how this project turned out
This is incredible. Amazing job, dude.
I absolutely loved this video, you were the heart of it to me. Hopefully this video gives your channel even more traction :)
I've never seen anything this insanely powerful packed into such a small chassis, let alone one as legendary as the hot wheels PC. Incredible job my man.
YOO IT WORKED
This project is so impressive watched your video on it love this kind of stuff
Oh my god decaling the ultrawide rear projection... baller
It's brilliant really
This really sealed the deal, and it being a surprise to us as much as to Linus was a great touch

Hey, at least it’d be a differently shaped 90s chassis.
but they will cut costs by only using one 400w PSU & no fan on the rad.
if it's mean not using a new frame & case they will do it
i am pretty sure almost all of their R&D money is wasted on warranty development.
Yeah they’ll remove the cooling
We will always remember when James was the sole survivor of the LTT covid epidemic. Well done done sir on holding down the fort!
Yeah on wan it sounded like almost everyone was out when this was filmed
Just waiting to find out James is the only one that already had natural immunity and wasnt vaxed lol
@@dracer35 He didn't need vaccination because he ate all of his quick bits 😅
@@collective1515 James during the next Tech News episode "Now on for the quick bits... A part of a balanced diet to stay strong and healthy!"
Honestly didn't like James until his Intel home make over. Changed my whole understanding of him. He's definitely holding it down
That Shank is so modest about his abilities and that he loves to show people he thinks of as experts is what makes watching his videos so satisfying.
This build actually came out pretty darn good, I remember some stuff in older videos took way longer to do and were not nearly as well put together. The interior looks cramped as heck but still organized well. Really shows how the staff at LTT have improved quite a bit over time.
Flames make everything faster. It's science
That's what people used to do to make their computers faster before RGB was invented.
The orks think so too
Undisputed truth.
I'm not trying to be smartass. But to make endothermic reaction reacts faster, a heat source is needed. sually in a form of fire from bunsen burner
WHAT are you doing here, I was just watching your video lmao
I can't believe how good this video came out now knowing how messed up the production of this was because of covid. Amazing work everyone involved.
this reminds me of car shows I used to watch with my dad when I was kid, where a whole team of guys (usually each with a specialty) would slowly rebuild a car over the course of an episode for speed, aesthetics, or to restore it ... I love the whole team effort to make videos like this happen
Lots of respect for James jumping in and saving the day while most of the LTT staff was ill
I never thought i would think one day "I want a Hot wheels sleeper PC"
Same.
Lol
Never knew I wanted one till now
honestly there was a lot of fire shit back in the day. I mean a lot of the hardware sucked, but it was so cool. It was back when they were first digitizing everything and experimenting with all kind of different storage formats and devices, before it all basically just became touchphone adapters and iPad type junk. Or worse, basically a touchpad with a keyboard mounted on top of it being sold as a wildly overpriced laptop for $300 filled with Google spyware.
There's so much neat stuff Linus and team have done when they really focus on the sort of tech geek stuff, and I think one of my favourite may still be that 4 GPU in SLI configuration before SLI even existed by one of the guys who's now working on enterprise flight simulators iirc
My dad collects Hot Wheels, so no lie, I would love to be able to get hold of one of these just to re-fit it into a modern rig myself. Nothing this fancy -- most outrageous graphics it'd have to push are my dad's hidden object games on a 720p TV used as a monitor -- but fit something like a 5300 on an ITX mobo into this thing and it'd futureproof him for the next 8-10 years or so.
I think that LMG could become museum anytime as they have almost every tech product.
You should see LGRs collection then lol
@@hi_tech_reptiles That boy's got a literal warehouse FULL of old stuff I think.
Yeah don't you guys remember that video he did where he was like "my buddy has a hoarding problem"? That man was AWESOME. He had the coolest f'ing collection EVER and it was so organized! Well mostly well organized. Enough. Except for cables. But who cares he can cable manage his cable drawers when he retires.

Do you see that childlike joy on Linus' face? Let us forget our annoyances with major tech congloms for a minute and share in his joy as he rediscovers the childlike joy of playing those games on native, period correct hardware, which is becoming increasingly hard to find. STOP YOUR PARENTS FROM THROWING STUFF OUT! Don't let some poor Nigerian or Chinese child have to disassemble it for precious metals! Someone, somewhere, that is very very valuable to them, just like you can imagine someone's boomer parents throwing this Hotbox PC into the trash. It's not going to be easy finding hardware to boot DOS games off 5.25" floppy someday soon.
RMC- The Cave CZcams channel has actually built a museum you can visit
Except Linus keeps taking stuff home with him
Shank Mods looks like he just stepped out of a Delorean that appeared out of nowhere
I am so genuinely happy to see shank on your CZcams! I have been following him on multiple channels for years and I always knew he deserved more recognition ! VERY HAPPY TO SEE HIM ON WITH THE BIGGEST TECH CZcams AROUND!
It's a small detail but that email at 4:15 really shows the level of Linus and how open he is to helping out others and making good content. Good shit 💪
well... it's also a consciously publiced email.
Not that i believe that it's not real or that Linus isn't that guy, but it'd be easy to fake that, if he wanted to portay himself that way.
@@z0bi_ I think that over the years, LMG has done enough collabs that if they didn't treat their fellow creators at least fairly, they wouldn't still be making cool collabs with other awesome creators.

James did a great job stepping in 😊 actually did quite well in a more technical/engineering type of video 😊
And of course huge props to Shank mods!
Honestly, this is my favorite type of content on the channel.
I don't think people would really get jealous about not being able to build these weird custom PC's like they do about not being able to get components for their rig, so it might actually be popular.
It's just really cool to see.

"Together we're lookin' at like... 1300 watts."
"Hopefully that should be enough."
My 500 watt psu:
"Don't even think about it."
This is what fills me with dread about the upcoming generation, and I have 850w. You'd think that would be enough but not when you're also planning to buy a used 5950x at some point and "overclock" it to like 200w at a certain point. So there's that plus, how much GPU? THey're saying freakin 400w? 600w, just right there, bam. Not counting my HDDs and SSDs, plus optical drives plus RAM that's probably 100w minimum, plus peripherals fans etc. then I'll need an AIO and we're maxxed out so I can't even plug a HOTAS in. You at least have a real valid reason to upgrade. My one PSU died, which was 750w, so I got another one, and I didn't plan on ever having to upgrade once.
@@pandemicneetbux2110 I have an 850w too. I feel like it will be enough for most things. I dont think it's super necessary but it is safer
i have 320 watt firestarter psu
@@pandemicneetbux2110 Ya, im runnin a 1300W PSU, because with no overclocks my rig (3975wx and 6900xt) draws 200 watts at idle and 950 watts peak.

Been waiting for this collab to come out. I love Shank's content and was hoping he would get the collab organized once he offered it up. Loved his appearance on WAN Show and all his portable projects, especially the Gamecube Joycons.
Loving the retro work you've been making content on recently, would love to see more!
Can we get more collaborations with Shank on this channel. This is probably one of my new favorite videos on the channel and I am now currently working on theming out a monitor like this. Gonna see if I can get a custom keyboard / mouse made with these decals printed on them as well. Might even try to get a desk mat made.
I was a little worried when I heard on the WAN show that everyone was out of the office but James is always awesome and I’ve enjoyed everything Tynan has done so far.
James basically runs the show behind the scenes anyway, so as long as either him or Linus are still alive then they can stay up and running lol
How well this build went and how well it was edited together really just shows how strong the Linus Tech Team really is now.
Incredible production values and amazing job working together for the various aspects of the job.
IMHO, LMG's production quality is very close to what we used to see on Myth Busters. That is to say, suitable for broadcast.
@@kcgunesq RIGHT? Personally I'm remembering that weapon smithing show whenever I see these builds. Can't remember the name...
Indeed. I think it's probably a new editor because the random stock footage transitions were very new though, specially since they were not related to the content
@@MichaelVanBladel Yes and no. When they hired their first shop guy (god why am I so awful with names) it was mentioned that he does racing and built his own roll cage. Could be some footage of him racing.
