      +j sturgess I originally thought it was the float height but after setting that and swapping the needle to another carb I'm now certain it's the gloat needle.

      For The Bold - dreegez my bike had been sitting in the garage for 16 yrs, so had to clean carbs found the o rings on float needles had perished so replaced them also the needles needed freeing from crud! Still doesn't run for long and lumpy due in part to 3rd cylinder not firing, I'm going to take carbs off again clean and inspect, thinking also problem might be caused by leaking inlet boots and o rings.

    So the idea to get it to run at the correct mixture at idle is to go up in size at your main jets? Why not the pilot/slow jets? Those mostly control the idle circuit air/fuel mixture. Main controls WOT

    • @forthebold
      @forthebold  Před 6 lety +1

      +FooDude2011 main jets don't control the idle. Slow jets and circuits. The thinking behind increasing the main jet is that it's still bogging when opening quickly and that popping you hear is running lean. I can get it to idle until the float needle is right so that's where I'll start playing with the colortune

    Your jets need to be a lot bigger, i ride a 1982 gsx400f and the size of my main jets are 125. Just so you know.

      All depends with altitude and exhaust also. I’m running a 4-2 exhaust at sea level. Check out my newest videos on this. Bikes running perfect with those jets. Any more and it would be too rich I’d say.

    I remember having to do something with the ballast resistor when I installed a dyna ignition on an old Goldwing many years ago. Also I have uploaded my very first video today and would love your input as I value your opinion czcams.com/video/9lVfxuMd9I8/video.html I really like your production quality

    Why don't you order a small drill bit kit and drill out your jets until you get yourself in the right place? Otherwise you up with a fistful of jets that don't work and constantly have to wait for shipping.

      +Mark Stevens that sounds so dangerous. Personally I wouldn't like to drill jets because the difference in sizes are barely visible to the eye and I can't see any drill bits (I have) being as accurate for the job.

      This works pretty good. Just hold the drill and slowly spin the jet onto the bit.

    Everyone skips the wiring! The 42year old bike is not a perfect plug and play and no one bothers to explain that part. Ugh
