  • Nick and Goldie are two year old blacktail deer, they were the last fawns Nicky had before she passed away in 2022. They will be together until Nick decides to find territory of his own, Goldie will most likely spend her entire life in the area and continue where her mother left off.

I'll probably never get over how they accept me as I move around filming them. They just go about their business, sometimes literally, allowing me to capture sights like this. A few minutes after their grooming session, one of them laid down right in front of me while the other continued munching on the weeds. Had it been a bit dryer out, I would have sat down with them and soaked it all in.😁❤

@@wildlifeathome I can't get over that either. We have a deer park in a place called the Wisconsin Dells. They have well over 100 deer and you buy food to feed them. These poor deer know no other life than to be pened up and conditioned to come up to people for a hand out. I guess you could look at it as good and bad. They never have to starve and if they get sick ypthey have a vet to help them. Never have to worry about getting shot or hit on the road but it sucks that they can't explore the word either. Your deer have the best of everything. They have the protection of your sanctuary and can get a snack and come and go as they please. You have the perfect set up and earned their trust over the years!👍👍👍 Your a good man Derek!

Thank you, John. I'm also glad we live far enough away from a paved road that I don't worry too much about cars. These deer are used to us coming or going in a car. I think they know the car means food sometimes! 🤣

Hi Susan, yes I'm Derek over in Oregon. Thank you for the wonderful comment. I've always seemed to have a way with animals. One time our neighbors horse was loose on our property, I went out and walked right up to it and was giving it a scratch when the neighbor arrived. He was amazed I could get anywhere near it. Another time my uncle had feral kittens that he couldn't get anywhere close to. I had them in my lap within an hour! Once when I went to the zoo a giraffe tapped me in the head with it's horns(ossicones), I was very young at that time and the contact with that giraffe is something I'll never forget.😊❤

@@wildlifeathome Derek I believe 🙏I'm right animals can sense you love them
Not everyone can show animals that they are their friends. There was a time where I used to work there were deer 🦌& they ate the apples in the yard. I came to work & the maintenance man cut down both trees 🌳😒 We were upset he did that
He said they weren't eating the apples I said yes they did I watched the deer eating
Them I bought apples at the store for them to eat
One night getting off work a deer was at my car. I walked very slow & talked to it
I pleaded with it not move
      that I loved it
I did get close then she walked away
I wanted to share this with you. I love deer
It was a retirement home & I got neuropathy so I had to quit
Derek you have a wonderful channel. I love it very much

@@Susan-wh8xq I also have neuropathy, from degenerative disk disease, it's no fun. Deer are wonderfully relaxing and always have a way of improving any day when they show up. I've been so lucky to live amongst them and even luckier to have spent the time to earn the trust of one family group. It is made all the better knowing others enjoy watching the videos I get of them, thank you.☺️♥️
