very well explained, sent to a few of my older friends and they can understand and follow along just fine!! usually id have to walk them through so im really thankful for you haha
Oh good! I guess all those years pulling my hair out explaining tech to my mum has finally paid off! :D
Thank you man this is the one guide that actually made a difference for me.
Indeed almost doubled the frames. Seriously grateful for this
this was really sick man, thanks. I just fully upgraded from a 960 (ancient) and it was preforming literally exactly the same.
This literally got me 70-80 fps. Absolutely unbelievable!! It actually doubled my fps. Tweaked my in game settings slightly but holy shit!! I'm running 1080TI with an i7 and 32gbs of ram. Never thought I could get ~140 fps on this game. THANK YOU!!
Yay! Reading this made by day :) Enjoy!
How often does that 32 gigs go beyond 50% use?
@@lambsauce5312 play games like Tarkov and it will be used for sure
@@RedcoatViking_Official i have an i7 7700k 16gb ram 3200mhz and a 3080 and get around 25-40 fps (on every map) on 3440x1440 - I don't know what's going on i had better frames a year ago
I believe you need to upgrade your cpu. That is stressing the frames mate.@Basty213. Your 3080 should be capable of 4k 60 fps. But with the cpu bottlenecking things it will only be able to get so many frames.
Awesome guide. I’ve just gone from drops to 30fps to not dropping below 60fps. Thank you so much!
I'm happy for you! Great job :)
Thanks for this - just made the adjustments suggested and its made a big improvement.
Changing the settings to lunch the game on steam actually made this game to look entirely different for me! It looks gorgeous and improved a lot my frame rate! Thanks a lot!
Fantastic video. Getting wayyyy better fps now and was able to crank my settings much higher.
Brill :) Happy to hear it
Bro I can’t believe you fixed this for me, this also helped with some other games!! Tysm!
A beyond excellent guide from a basic players perspective with simple explanations of what each does. I'll be using this as a baseline guide for my other fps games. As a much older gamer that's not tech savvy, this is going to be invaluable. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to do this so brilliantly!
Hey, Rob, you're very welcome! I'm glad you found it useful and thank you for leaving such kind feedback :)
@@RedcoatViking_Official for your info for future vids i just switched from nvidia to amd recently, if you press alt and r it brings up the gforce experience for amd called amd adrenaline, in that you click gaming, display, custom resolution and it gives you obscene levels of control over refresh rate etc, eg timing standards, polarities and god knows what
You just made this game more fun than it was! I did not gain much FPS because of my low end PC.. but graphics wise.. oh my! I fell in love all over again :D thanks alot and keep it up!
Nice, glad I could help! :)
Incredible mate! Can’t wait to make hell let loose content
Worked like charm.. Thank you very much
absolutely incredible mate thanks
Thanks dude, you improved the whole experience for me, also love the moving background.
Happy to hear it! That background is from Wallpaper Engine :)
@@RedcoatViking_Official that costs money?, Lively Wallpaper is free
@@indemolties8380 Yeah it's about 5 euros or so but I'm happy with it :) Never tried Lively Wallpaper though!
I just started playing and thank you for your vids!
Thx mate! I bought that game Day ago and find this video out and now working good thx for u
This is awesome and feels like a new game, thanks man
Your first suggestion within the steam settings was MASSIVE.
Glad to hear it!
Just remember the "AO" in SSAO stands for "always off" lol. As you mentioned, it's a performance sink in any game. I always assumed it was some type of static overlay or poorly optimized shader. It usually makes any game look better but the resources aren't always worth it.
Until you mentioned that part about depth. Made me realize it's not just some post fx type overly. It's solving complex equations to figure out where the shadows should be, based on what angle you're viewing them, in every corner that's being rendered on screen, all the time.... No wonder it sucks up so many resources lmao.
Exactly! lol
with it OFF in tarkov, it makes the game look terrible.. But, I'm sure everyone has it off and it has performance advantages over ppl who have it on.
Literally the best 30 minute video I've ever seen that's actually trying to explain stuff. Absolutely worth the whole watch! Thank you man!
Awesome :) Thank you too!
BRO NO WAY my gpu was running at only like 30 percent before at 100fps now it runs at 100 percent at like 200 fps since i pasted dx12 and useallcores , thanks alot
😇 Excellent! Well done
Does it work for all games?
@@thepope457 the dx12 and useallcores should work in most modern games that use the unreal and possibly even source engines, but it's not a guaranteed performance upgrade every time and each game is totally different so things that work for Hell Let Loose in this video may not work as well or completely break other games.
I'd recommend googling performance tips for each game individually unless you're comfortable spending hours playing around with ini files and testing stuff.
Tbh I'm nervous to try it. I don't want to fry my pc and when I try to launch, for example scum on dx12 (without useallcores) it loads in choppy with line breaks, shader tearing etc.
@@MadAtMax.300Blackout first of all using dx12 wont fry your pc😅 give it a try bro and if u dont like it just undo it
Bro this helped so much thank you so much i cant thank you enough
Thanks for the info.
Thanks. Something which wasn't mentioned but which also really helped me distinguish enemies from the background was to turn up "Digital Vibrance" in nvidia desktop settings. It really helps with taking away that drab, washed out look that HLL has which makes it look like saving Private ryan film, which is cool, but really makes uniforms blend in.
Big thanks it helped a lot for my old PC
Cheers. Amped up my FPS by about 20. nice video
Glad to hear it helped! Thanks :)
Good stuff, very helpful 👏 👍
Great video thank you.
Awesome, thanks for advice how to remove intro movies
Thanks, really great guide, the first one that got me a significant FPS boost, and everything still looks great. I am now easily able to hit my monitor refresh of 120hz@4k with a 13700k and 4070.
I have the same specs yet my game stutters all the time even tho i get over 100fps
Great video!
Fantastic guide!
Just one thing...can we have a video about that majestic wallpaper?
Thanks for taking the time.
My pleasure!
Dude what the heck, I just followed this guide and went from around 50 FPS to like 70 FPS! Unlike so many other guides like this, yours actually works. Many thanks!
Just doing my civic duty, sir 🥴
Thank you :)
Shadows actually saved more on a couple of occasions when I was in a trench and there was an enemy about to jump down. I saw the shadow and was able to anticipate them around the corner
Thanks for the video, it really helped out
Sure thing!
I just watched this so I could start playing Hell Let Loose, the before and after OH MY GOLLY GEE IT LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER!!! THANK YOU ❤
Bro best tutorial i have ever seen thx.
Damn! Getting stable around 50-60 on my 660 TI thanks to your tips(Old rig, 60Hz monitor) ON DX11!!
Thank you very much man!
Subbed it up! \m/
That's impressive :o good job!
Thank you bro. Have a decent set up (5900x / 3080ti) and I was only getting 75ish frame after. My fps was at 0 in the settings but once I put 165 it was back to normal!! You're the man! ty, boss
No problem 👍
This video was great, thx!
Anytime!
very good video, well explained
U just doubled my FPS and game looks fantastic, thanks comrade
Glad to hear it! :) Have fun

Happy to help!
Thank you sarge!
Wow Very Comprehensive Tutorial Well Done Sir

OH MY GOD YOURE RIGHT I DID KNOCK OUT MY CABLE AND IT DID REVERT IT BACK TO 60... i never EVER knew that thanks a million!

I'm glad ^^
thx man !
Sure thing!
Awesome tips! Now, I just need to be able to get into a server without waiting in a queue..
Thank you!! New subscriber here.
Nice, welcome! :)
I got a FPS gain from 45 - 70 FPS to 80 - 110 FPS. This guide is really helpful, thanks!
THANKS MAN
Sure thing 👍
Thank yout very much!
You're very welcome!
Thanks for this! I want to kiss you on the mouth for the tip about the opening vids. They were getting on my nerves big time!
Dude, thank you thank you THANK YOU. I was getting like 70-80 FPS with a 6950xt and a Ryzen 9 7900X and it was driving me up a wall lol. Thought I had the graphics pretty well set up but the DX12 turned out to make a massive difference. Hitting the 144 FPS cap I set almost all the time now. Really appreciate you!
Glad it worked so well ^^
ROFL just tryed in the practice zone bang 170 fps will try game tomorrow, had similar info from an old vid I think, the 144 bits in particular.
Cheers mate!!
I just did what you said and holy shit. Went from 60 down to 30fps to 130+. Running an old 1080. Thanks
Nice work!
damn , i did what you told without change my settings , went from 75-80 to 100-110 fps . thanks a lot
Thanks for the video dude. BTW what kind of wallpaper do you have on your desktop background? It's very nice
id like to know this as well haha
Np! :) The wallpaper's from Wallpaper Engine on Steam, it's called 'Morning'
Omg, i dont play the same game now ! its like smooth ! Thanks you !
i'm interested in how you got that cool background
Check out a program on Steam called "Wallpaper Engine" :)
thank you!!!!
No worries!
Thanks for the guide. Hopefully this isn't outdated
Should still be good to go!
Wow, what a game changer, I am amazed. I've gone from 50-60 fps to 100+, yes comp was at 60 khz now at 144, BOOM. I knew there was something not quite right although the game ran fine, it is now unbelievably better for my 66 yo eyes, I can actually see enemies a whole lot better and now getting kills is so much easier. Thank you for the low down on all the ingame settings. Thank you so much, best tutorial ever. 😎 subd.
That's great! Glad I could help, and welcome to the channel! :D
I hear ya. Having to put on my reading glasses to see the enemy better just reminds me of my age.😔
@@paunchouspilot6757 I've had to wear glasses to see anything in HD since I was 12 lol
this helped me a bit to gain FPS. At first i tried those launch options, use all cores and dx12. My fps increased a bit, nothing humangeous. But I did notice that every few seconds I notice a hitch, and it freezes for a fraction of a second (but maybe it was like that before but I didn't notice it clearly as my fps were low). After following the advice ingame about video settings I have to admit it did increase my fps by 25%
Using a GTX1080, 16GB and Ryzen 5 3600X. Which should be MORE than enough I think. Gaming in 1080
EDIT: I have to admit it's a lot smoother now than before with simply adding those launch options and turning off SSAO. Thank you!
I was getting about 30-40fps and doubled my FPS after this video. Now im averaging 90-150fps!!! @RedcoadViking your a saint! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Hi mate, thanks for this great Tutorial 👌
Where can i find this perfect Desktop Screen?
Hi, you're welcome! The wallpaper is from a steam app called 'Wallpaper Engine' :)
love you man, I watched your video and now I'm playing with 95 fps with a 3070 in 2k resolution
Awesome! :) Enjoy!
I love your pc background what is that!?
The second I applied the settings, the lag reduced by half. Thank you for the good advice
Great to hear!
My PC actually crashed despite me having Specs well over the Recommended specs.
This video helped me fix this.
Oh that's good, I thought at first you meant it crashed after these changes lol, you had me worried but ready to assist! :P
Great guide! My only issue is that the userconfig stuff that you did only appears to work if the game is installed on the same hard drive as windows. I couldn't be bothered uninstalling and reinstalling the whole game, but everything else you mentioned has improved things dramatically so I don't really feel that I need to.
I had this issue however you just have to look in a different folder, for me HLL is installed on My second ssd. I had to look in my second ssd, then instead of program files there was a seperate folder called steam library. After I opened steam library I just followed his other steps
Just followed along, and changed the Ultra wide setting too. amazing difference! Interesting they haven't added the DX12 option in yet? I'm guessing their testing and benchmarking is crashing too much still.
Also I saw you are a fan of Total Annihilation too!!! Have you been playing the Beyond All Reason (BAR) remake yet?
Got a Sub from me!
Yeah I played a couple matches of BAR and loved it :)
HLL Config can also be alternatively accessed through
Win+r %Localappdata%
Pro tip, thanks for sharing!
This is how I found it thank you!
thanks mate
to access appdata you can just press windows + r and type %appdata%
ALSO you dont need to look for the game on your hdd, you can right click hell let loose on steam and browse local files
I have an RTX 3080 + i9-10850k and I struggled to get above 60fps. Will try this out
Using the NVIDIA filters via Alt+Z really helps the clarity and color of the game
Word on the grapevine is support for Nvidia Filters will be removed soon due to exploits on the new night maps.
for people still having issues, most menus are hard capped at 60, test a match not the menu.
Hey great VID, how do i run the DX12 on xbox game pass PC ?
Thx I boosted my fps from 70 to 200
Hey man, I appreciate you probably get hundreds of these questions but I just had a couple
I’m playing on a gaming laptop (I know!) specs are i7-9750h, RTX 2060, 16gb ram.
You mentioned in here about Vsync within the game soaking up a lot of resources, I do get frequent and visible screen tearing when it’s not switched on, is there a difference between using the in game version versus using the Nvidia control panel version?
I’ve activated dx12 and used all available cores and lowered shadows, I’m fine messing around with stuff trying to figure out what quality I get but I’m after a more stable less choppy experience where possible.
Only came back to the game yesterday after 18 months away so all my settings are lost after a fresh Windows install
Thanks for the video!
Hi! Did you try doing the step where you set your own refresh rate in the game's ini file? The best way to reduce/remove screen tearing is to turn v-sync off and set your own refresh rate in the file.
@@RedcoatViking_Official Yes! I've done that now and set it to 60hz! For some reason it was set to 0 by default, I've played about 4 games today and experienced a lot less screen tearing, though performance at times still is affecting by stuttering and things but I think that's just the HLL experience at times! Thanks for these great and informative videos mate, much appreciated!
how did u do the live wallpaper you use? and where did you get the one your using?
I love your desktop background where is it from???🙂
It's called "Morning", you can find it on Wallpaper Engine on Steam :)
Hey so idk if your still replying to comments on this video but just a question about the launch option in steam using all available cores. Can you do that to any game on steam and have it run better or is that not recommended?
Hi, as far as I know it only works with games that use the unreal engine or source engine, and results probably depend on how the game is built etc, so it might not get the same dramatic results in other games as it does in hell let loose, but it's worth a shot :)
thank god for u
with an amd ryzen 5 3600 and recently updated gpu to RX 6800 XT im kinda getting like 100 fps the most! and i had already made "0" in gamesetting folder in appdata..! im gonna try these ingame settings with anti aliasing "on" to see if i can get some kind of boost along with the dx12 in steam settings...!
Went from roughly 30% usage on cpu and gpu getting 60-80 fps with a 3070 on epic... now I have 80-90% usage and get 100-110 fps thank you!
Good stuff 👍
What setting made most difference? Seems my gpu usage is low in this particular game never hitting above 60% other games it runs much higher.
@@nicktruitt5589 just follow the vid
@@anthonywills2691 I did and definitely worked much improved!
thanks i actually learnt alot from this and its no longer blurry or running at 240fps. in the initial load up screen into a match i get between 1600 to 1700 fps even with frame limiter any idea why?
yeeee this is good
my friend panda likes it to
AMD cards don't allow for changing the refresh rate with radeon control panel, you have to set it in windows and whatever windows is set to, it reads. Same with resolution.
Rivia tuner m8
@@whistlemusic8572 thanks
No is that option and you can changing refresh rate on individual game on one you can set 60 on next 120
To anyone who can't change anything inside of the GameUserSettings.ini file: go to properties and at the bottom, untick the box which says "read only" and press apply
haha yes mate, thank you! I'll add this to the pinned comment. Remember to re-enable read-only after saving the file though, otherwise it will revert back to 60.0000 frames every time you launch the game :)
@@RedcoatViking_Official What about game updates though? Does it change the file in any way? Used to be that way when I used to crack DLCs for Arma 3 :D
@@jimbeammeup9879 I was thinking about that earlier and... I guess we'll find out! If so I'll do a video about that too :P
In Steam where you remove movie`s they will reinstall if you do a integrity of files for the game , also I typed just -dx12 and for game play I am avg well over 100 fps , lot has to do with the server`s you are in as well . using AMD rysen 5 5600x with a AMD rx6600 gpu
I would probably add some nvidia control panel stuff in 3D setting for program settings. I do this with every game to make sure it's just running more optimized. Not leaving things on Auto, and just choosing on or off, prefer max performance, setting things to either performance or quality. Some don't have a gsync monitor so choosing fixed refresh. Very minor things, but have seen over time in certain games it can have a significant impact on performance and fps.
But other than that, Thank YOU!!! the dx12 and use all cores, as well as adjusting the .ini file. BIG DIFFERENCE!
The deleting the movies was a life saver.
u can find youre Gamefiles easy over Steam by rightclick on the game title / administer (Verwalten)/ searching through local files ( Lokale Dateien durchsuchen)
so it opens for you the right Hell let loose file not depending on wich Drive u have it steam should be able to allways find it and for the APPdata there is also an other way by just typing \appdata in the filebar at the end so it automaticly opens or at least search for the AppData file. (it works only after u got in local drive\user\ your name )
Good tips! Thanks for sharing
