This is combat at a whole new scale....with lumbering tanks dominating the battlefield, crucial supply chains fuelling the frontlines, you are a cog in the machine of colossal combined arms warfare. Hell Let Loose puts you in the chaos of war, complete with deep player-controlled vehicles, a dynamically evolving front line, and crucial unit-focused gameplay that commands the tide of battle.

Helped me! Went from 60 fps to now pushing around 90fps consistently! Nice video :)
Glad to hear it :)
I’m gonna bullet sponge so much more smoothly now! These are great tips. I watched the longer version but had forgotten most of the settings by the time I made it to my gaming rig. Thanks!
Take screen shots you bellend
@@gradysmith9969 good suggestion! I’ll try that in the CZcams app on my Apple TV the next time I’m in bed, delirious from the flu and happen upon this video.
Awesome sauce well done. Changing the FPS scaling in the notepad made a huge difference for me. Definitely a 50% improvement overall for FPS.
You are a champion sir. I just got into this game and this video was a HUGE help.
Glad I could help :)
Didn’t know about the config refresh rate, thanks !. I strongly recommend any gamer to tweak PC for gaming for maximum performance and high fps without sacrificing details.
Thank you for a simple, yet effectiv video:)
From 75-85 to 140-180 on a 6800xt, thanks a lot, thats insane!
Nice job! :)
I have the same setup. Can't wait to try and thank you for the vid! Very good info. Knew something was off.

Your previous video helped me tremendously! This is great advice for all pc players so thank you for sharing.
Thanks for sharing! :)
man ty so much!! it was brutal the better performance in game with this simply but amazing tips. i had stuttering like hell, only 30-40 fps some times in all maps...all running in a rx 6600 xt and ryzen 5600x. now all is smoothly, with 110-120 fps. :D
thank you so much for this Video , it helps me amazing !
bro you won a new subscriber
your video helps me alot! there is a big diff after the changes
Exactly what i was looking for thank you
Amazing video. This helped so much, and I like how you included other quality of life tips!
Glad it was helpful!
i have watched someone else's one of these in the past that didnt work... so i have uninstalled the game... felt like playing so reinstalled a few months later leading to me finding this video. I think one key distinction you made was putting the file back on read only. they never mentioned that. and this video has made my game playable. so thank you very much! good tutorial.
Life saving video, thanks a bunch!
Thanks, this really helped my gaming laptop. Really like the opening game video deletes!!!! Directx12 helped my frames tremendously!
Thank you for your video!!! Went from 70-80 to consistantly 180-190.
Wow,, it actually works! Thank you
My man.. saved my life. Earned a sub.
I think this actually made my FPS go up thanks
Awesome thanks for the help!
been playing this game for 500 hours and never knew this, thanks man
thanks mate! it did the job!
Thanks, I got allot more FPS in more cases I still have very common lag spikes but its not too bad the game even look better now then before! before the game ran with 28-40 fps and now with 49-70 fps, great Video!
Good job :) That fps is still fairly low though (the 49 I mean). It may be time for an upgrade!
Thanks!
Thank you for this, very helpful.
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching :)
This worked!! went from 40-50 fps to 84-100+ fps, thank you for this video.
Thank you, i try to stream and always drop between 60 to 30 now i start the stream on 75 - 80 and dropps to 65, super good!
Awesome! :) Your stream settings can have a massive impact on your fps as well. Make sure your bitrate isn't higher than it needs to be to look crisp, and consider downscaling to 1080p if you're using a 1440p monitor as it's more or less unnoticeable to viewers
@@RedcoatViking_Official i just stream for fun but sure I will do that, thank you for the quick response
@@TheCarperx no worries 🤗 happy to help
Thanks bro 🎉
went from 60-80fps to 80-120! thanks a ton man
Glad to hear it! Enjoy :)
you can skip the config edit for hz and directly use "-refresh 144" in the game properties, mine also includes -malloc=system but i don't remember what it does.
Mallac is memory allocation. It forces your RAM to be utilized more.
does it help? @@shaun_177
and is it mallac or malloc?@@shaun_177
Thank you
Thanks so much. Just got the game, and it was running well, but this made it awesome.
I did have to get rid of the dx12 thing though. That made my game stutter and lag a ton. Otherwise the other stuff was good.
Awesome advice
Holy crap I unplugged my monitor and it changed to 60fps lol. Great guide
Glad it helped!
much more responsive now, ty
wow, i have ultrawide monitor 3440x1440 and was struggling with fps even with my 3080ti, couldn't get over 40fps.. now its between 70-90, thank you very much.
Thanks alot mate! this guide made my game so good. I am not with a good PC and i had really big fps drops that were making the game unplayable on some maps. After the guide I get almost no fps drops and keep stable 70-90 fps what i did is i just typed use all cores (withnout direct12) and changed the refresh rate. I am noticing i am "losing connection to host" quite often do you think its related or its just something in the servers i join ?
Try to join servers with like 80 ms or 100ms 200 300 400 ms lags u out of servers
It's the servers homie. It's just random.
Thank you so much!!
Sure 👍

Most people tend to forget if you change your settings file to read only, any change your make to game settings in-game will always keep changing to the old one before you edited the config.file So you have to change them everytime you launche the game. So I suggest people do the step of editing refresh rate in config file last and keep it to read only in the last.
Thank you! from 60 to 120 on 3060 TI
When you change anything in the game settings, does this not change what you did in the inifiles? I recall that you mess with the settings in game afterwards it resets everything
Thanks Goat!
You're welcome!
3:00 the reason it doesn’t show your max is because it is trying to use hdmi ports which don’t support your max hertz. Which is why when you press PC 1920x1080 it allows you since it doesn’t think you are using a tv
When is DX12 mode, change to windowed fullscreen, keeping it in regular fullscreen it will crash when alt tabbing or hitting windows key or even bringing up any overlay usually especially when loading into servers.
Interesting and good to know! I haven't experienced the alt-tab crashing in full screen but it's good for anyone that does
I was getting like maybe 60fps on a 3070 so I was super confused. Thanks you your video I am getting over 120-30 so thank you!
Awesome, hearing this stuff always makes me smile! :)
Worked like a charm almost a year later, went up 40-50 FPS and now my graphics are no longer fighting for it's life when I play in places with a lot of rubble like Carentan.
Still unsure how to remove the movies when you launch the game though, hit a dead end after going to the "Hell Let Loose" file. Either way, much appreciated for the video.
For the movies you just need to navigate to your Hell Let Loose install directory SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Hell Let Loose\HLL\Content\Movies and delete the videos inside that folder, literally select them and press delete.
thx
what teh aactual hell, dude i thought my pc is going to rip but it runs all other newer games fluently, but in HLL i had like 20 to 70 fps, now after that i have 144 xDD THANK YOU i can finally enjoy the game !
Well done video, CHEERIO M8
I don't have a HLL folder in my appdata folder, did they move it?
Oh my god Redcoat. Randomly found this video a year later because I just purchased a 3070 and was pissed at an uneven 49-59 FPS performance. Followed your guide and no joke we are now cruising at 95-105 FPS in 1440p!
What sorcery is this? For such a huge boost it must be related to running in Dx12 and using all cores. Why won't the devs make this default for everyone? Default HLL runs embarrassingly bad even on strong hardware.
Either way, thank you for this.
Absolute legend mate.
Glad it helped!
Just purchased a new gaming monitor that gets me up to 165hz. Right now im playing on an HP, 60hz lol. I have a gooood feeling im about to up my game even more!
Is there a way to do the first step if you're playing HLL off the Xbox Gamepass on PC?
Great video!
dx12 gives me ALOT more fps but it also gives stuttering, bad annoying stuttering. I did couple of settings to make that suttering very small but its still annoying and it doesnt go away after playing for some time.
If you're on amd that's why, it's the shaders
Thanks man, played 12 hs on dx11 with an average 40fps and wondering why the fuck didn't run at 75fps at least lol new sub
Thank you fot the great stuff!
Quick question: Why are some of my in game options sometimes reset to defauylt when I close and reopen the game? HINTS are killing me every time I have to go back turn them off. I'm not sure about the other settings but I hope to god I don't have to re-do all of them for video as well!
THANKS AGAIN!
Ah that one's an easy one, it's because the ini file is set to 'read only', so you'll need to uncheck the read only, make all the changes you want to make in-game, then exit the game, change the ini file with the refresh rate settings, then set it back to read-only.
Unfortunately you'll need to do that every time you want to change one of the in-game settings, otherwise it won't save because it can't write new data to a read only file.
@@RedcoatViking_Official So basically that's why my favorite loadouts for roles aren't getting saved either? DAMN haha Thank you i'll go do these changes in ini file (and save a backup before)
Thanks for your HELLp
you can set start parameters -refresh 144 / 240 ect. for example.
I have a 4090 and HLL doesnt manage to fully use it, for some weird reason....
Is the config.ini not locked. Also can one no longer set sharpening in nvidia panel?
wow, i am impressed, i expected another "turn on your core priority of the .exe file, hop around a fire and sing pulumulubungabunga and hope for more fps - don't forget to subscribe, i do other guides for other games, all the same, so please hit the like button" xD - thanks for the good guide sir, helpful
Should dynamic resolution be set to false in game settings file?
Having freesync and vsync on can reduce input lag to 4ms from 20ms with both off. There's a vid posted on youtube showing the difference.
3070 here, changing FrameRateLimit from 0.0000 (uncapped) to 60 (my monitors refresh rate) seems to have fixed the drops and micro-stuttering. read-only was already unchecked (im using W11) but i ticked it after the edit to be sure. now the game runs buttery smooth even when spawning in.
-dx12 just caused more lag, blurry textures and heavy input lag. didn't try -USEALLAVAILABLECORES (i5-12600k) because after changing the framerate limit the game already runs fine!
i unchecked read-only as my loadout wouldn't save with it on. the next time i booted the game FrameRateLimit changed to 60.00000 but never went back to 0 so the game still runs much better.
My Configuration is i5 10400
Gtx 1660 super 6gb Gddr6
16Gb of Ram dde4 2x8
SSD 500 etc...
144hz monitor
I made the settings that passed, I got a boost from 60-40 to 90-120, but even then even the minimum drops to less than 60 sometimes, causing some very bad crashes
You saved me, bro!!! Thanks for helping the community!
Glad it helped! I just do what I can :P
This guide is GOLD! All this time I was playing at 60Hz, 160Hz feels so much better! Thanks for making this guide.
bro I literally bought a whole new GPU thinking my 3060 was too weak or something...
Glad it helped!
You are really that stupid to not know you have 160hz monitor?
bro my FrameRateLimit was at 0.0000
Thanks for the video! With my 1070 I used the -dx12 command and it worked nice. But since I got the 4070 Ti I get black screens at random times (20 min, 2 hours..) and then displays shows "No signal", Desktop coming back after 1-2 min and game is closed. I guess the driver of the 4070 Ti is crashing at some rare event in the hardware, not sure. Did you hear of such issues with HLL and 4070 Ti already?
Hi, no I haven't heard of that issue but the 40 series is so new that could be why. Is your tower cooled ok? It might be worth checking your GPU temps while in-game using ctrl-alt-delete > Task Manager > Performance (or some other dedicated temperature program) just to make sure that's not the cause as the way you describe the crash is typical of overheating hardware. It should be able to cool itself fine, but if your tower is especially hot or (maybe) if one of the fans on your GPU aren't working properly then that could be it.
In the likelihood that all the temps are okay though, try running the game without applying any of the changes in this video and see if you experience the same problems. If you don't then try adding each step 1 by 1 and run the game in between each new thing you do to try to pin point the exact route of the problem. A pain in the butt for sure, but it's the only way :P
Do you know why in my game, there's some kind of micro stuter at random points? For example when i use Shift to zoom when shooting also the fps limit dosent work
have the same issues.. i got a high-end machine, 3090ti, x5950, etc... and getin those stutters all the time when i scope in, jump fences, etc. it doesnt affect the fps i realized.. those are not fps drops those are weird stutters wich i duno where they come from
Hi M8, thanks for this tutorial it's been very informative. All the settings etc work well. I do however have an issue that I can't resolve, and hope you might be able to help. I have a good updated Pc and a very good graphics card, but with dx12 and 144hz and settings turned down from epic, I'm still on occasion getting minor screen stutter ( intermittent ). Also when I am an Axis AT, I loose the sight picture on the panzer schreck, ie if I aim down the sight and go to low or high the whole thing dissapear's making it hard to take a shot, when using the same roll in US roll with the bazooka I don't get the same issue. Also when ADS on a riffle the sight picture at times waves around in a weird fashion. Very perplexed, any ideas. Thx Doc.
Hi Doc - The occasional stuttering issue is unfortunately part of the experience. Once you load into a map at the start of a match you'll notice a big bunch of stutters and frame drops for 30 seconds or so as all the textures load in. Turn around a full 360 degrees to help it load in quicker. After that the stutters *should* be mostly small and unfortunately are caused by Hell Let Loose's optimization and lack of official support for DX12.
As for the panzerschrek sight issue though that's the first time I've heard of anyone experiencing it. It might be worth removing -dx12 again and seeing if it fixes all your issues. If it does then just run it without dx12, but if it doesn't then there may be a corrupt file or something which could be fixed by a complete reinstall of the game, but that's just a guess.
Really it comes down to what hardware you have specifically, as "very good graphics card" is relative :P
Dude, try disabling the Game Mode on Windows. it worked for me.
-dx12 -USEALLAVAILABLECORES
ive done change the 60hz limit (i have a 170hz monitor) but it dont change when i log into the game
Bro even from the main menu my fps jumped from 50 to 110. In game it went from 70fps stuttery mess to 120fps solid. Whenever i moved the mouse it was dropping 15 to 20fps. Now rock solid. Liked and subbed.
switching to DX12 really helps which is surprising because it's not the case for every game where people suggest it and I'm on windows 10 also.
Yea, its werid because i find most games just run 10x worst or not at all
it made it run worse for me and made textures blurry, 3070
Hello, good advice tried them works fine, just a few things is it any difference if you write this command line with " -dx12- " or " -dx12 - " the space between the two middle lines ,I am concerned that it won't work if not correctly written. When I play it starts micro freezing for about half a second every 20 seconds , I have a 2700 ryzen with a 3080ti I understand about the huge bottleneck that the CPU causes to the GPU around 25 %
Hi, yes I think you have to write -dx12 otherwise it won't work. The micro freezes should go away once you've been in game for a minute or two, but if they don't then try making all the other changes and removing -dx12 and see if that's any better. DirectX 12 is unsupported in Hell Let Loose and it seems to work better on some PC's than on others, though I don't know why.
Thank you ,good videos mate,it really improved my gameplay.Wish we had more UK servers out there .
What does reducing view distance actually reduce? Does it fully cull the rendering of the world by some amount, or just reduce object rendering or change LOD of objects? I guess what I'm asking is: does lowering that put me at a long range disadvantage where someone will render me at "epic", but I won't render them at "high"?
That's what I've always assumed would happen but I haven't actually tried it... Might be a good test!
You should change your Output dyanmic range to full instead of limited. If you use digital vibrance it resets itself with limited range.
Thanks for that 👌
Excellent settings, thank you very much. I'm running with my old RX580. After applying these, the game runs, looks and feels finally good even with my card. The only problem is that, for some reason, video in-game settings always revert to my previous settings when I restart the game ("apply" doesn't hold for some stupid reason). Anybody knows the solution? Many thx in advance.
Ok I found the answer in the comments below, switch the game ini file to read only after you change the settings, thx again :)
my game crashes at map loading and i have a 4090 rtx nvidia and i9 ?? and the frame is still the same i dont know why
Excelente, funciona 100%. Muchas gracias
i have an RTX 2060 but after doing these changes, the game simply has a black screen. Any advice?
does setting frame rate limit in the config actually change your frame rate limit? or does it just change your refresh rate?
From what I can tell it's always just changed the refresh rate, since I and many people were already getting over 60 fps before changing the .ini file, just the refresh rate felt really low. Pretty sure it basically just affects the refresh rate.
This video right here. This is how babies are made. Thank you for teaching some of the new recruits, as well as an old dog like me a new trick. The FrameRateLimit I had no idea existed. I can play this game again. Hooah!
Do u use the same video settings u showed in this video?
I do! Except now I run it in 3440x1440 resolution, otherwise everything else is still the same :)
Great video, my graphics card burned.
why would they not update and add these options in settings ...
Shadows on low is an advantage as well imo
Does editing the FPS limit in the file still work with Vsync off? Gonna try 59 with FreeSync
Yeah it still works

Bro what if you downloaded it on xbox and not steam. Any help?
what if i have game on pc in xbox app? how turn on dx12?
Hi Zach, i tried all of your tricks and the -dx12 -USEALLAVAILABLECORES, but my fps won't increase.. this is where i am gaming on;
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor
Could my video card be the problem or is it just my pc wich is trash and has some kind of virus?
Thank you for contact Redcoat tech support. Your problem has been resolved in Discord so I will now close this ticket.
I'm playing on a gaming laptop, specs are :
i7-9750h @ 2.60GHz
RTZ 2060
16bg Ram
I'd noticed in my config file that my 'FrameRateLimit' was set to 0, is that likely to have been not helping me with things like screen tearing etc? My max refresh rate of my monitor is 60hz, so I've set it to that now and saved. I'd been forced to use Vsync because of noticeable screen tearing in spite of any impact it may have on input lag as mentioned in your video. Hopefully these changes may help.
Are there any Nvidia control panel settings you'd recommend for a gaming laptop along the lines of the above specs? Sorry to be a pain!
With those specs it's likely you were exceeding 60fps, which for your 60hz monitor could have been causing screen tearing yeah. Setting it to 60 should help a fair bit, though screen tearing is tricky and might not disappear entirely. If it's really bad you can try enabling V-Sync in the in-game graphics menu.
As for the Nvidia panel I normally just leave most of it at the factory settings, and just check to make sure nothing is set to override the options set by the game itself. Basically just hand full control of the graphics over to the games themselves for the best experience :)
@@RedcoatViking_Official Thanks for taking the time to respond! I'll see how I get on with it
you is the better
ever since i did this I just have a black screen on startup, the game opens but i am stuck at menu with black screen, when i alt tab its there fine, but when i click back on hll it is just a black screen :( verifying files to get movies back didnt fix it, i even set fps back to 60 and stopped using -dx12, any help would be great
I figured it out think it had to do with monitor being 2k, but hll 1920x1080, massive improvement even with 2k on, thanks alot man! wish hll was more optimised, but here hopein
though after doing all this my ping sky rocketed, probably just my side tho
i got a computer crash when i optimized my settings to include directx12. if anyone else has this problem or a workaround because it doesnt finally work after alot of restarting.
It sounds like maybe your PC doesn't support dx12. You can (hopefully) fix the crashes by just deleting '-dx12' from the game's launch options in Steam.
Thanks man, now at 100+ FPS
Nice, good job 👍
Frameratelimiter keeps resetting to 60 eventhough ‘read only’ is unchecked
mine says FrameRateLimit=0.00000 by default. should I just keep it as is or change it to 144?
same here , I changed it but I havent notice any change at all
