- The budget Honda Civic build continues with my Del Sol seat project! These $30 seats had an amazing transformation and are finally "clean" enough for my Civic's interior! Told you I wasn't crazy...
I'll admit, I had my doubts about installing eBay seat covers on my Del Sol seats. I mean...who wouldn't? Fortunately that was the best impulse purchase I've made for my Honda Civic build. If you didn't see my previous video, I picked up a set of Honda Del Sol seats for $30 to swap into my Ej/Ek Civic. They were dirty, torn, and covered in spider eggs. After a deep seat detail and attempting to sew and patch foam, they came out structurally sound!
So $15 dollars later I was into the project at $45 total. I took a leap of faith and ordered the Iggee seat covers for $140 to see if I could make these seats clean enough for the Civic. To my surprise, these Covers completely transformed the seats to look OEM and...NEW! Seriously, I would't just say that because I have OCD high standards.
The Del Sol seat swap into the Civic is rather easy and probably a 1 beer project. The seat covers are a little more time consuming to install and I would rate those to be a 2 beer project. So, 3 beers and $185 total, I have the new seats you see in front of you! The cherry on top was also installing my new "leather" armrest cover that I also picked up from eBay for $10 shipped. Totally worth it and extremely easy to install. If you have a Civic and stumble across some Del Sol seats, I implore you to pick them up and get some seat covers (if needed).

I have some good news for everyone. The drivers side seat and passenger side seat can be swapped! Done this myself.
Pull both seats out, unbolt both bottom seat cushions, swap and bolt back in place.
Rails are specific to left and right sides of the car.
Great news is that the left bolster of the passenger seat will likely be

I have some good news for del Sol fans. The bottom seat cushions can be swapped side to side!!
Unbolt the seats, pull them out, pull side covers off and unbolt the seat cushions. Move to opposite side and bolt back in. Replace side covers, return to car and bolt back in.
Note, the rails are -specific- to left and right sides of the car. The anchor bolt for the lap belt is larger diameter than the other three.
The left side bolster of the passenger side will likely feel like new!

I have owned 4 Hondas and enjoyed them all. Have always been tempted to get one of the mid to late 90s ones. But can be hard to find one that's not clapped out. And theft with these early Hondas has always scared me away.

@@SansMizu1119 For sure German cars can be nightmares especially the cost of parts. I know someone with a Q7 and they paid 1700 to get a lower control arm replaced. I would also suggest looking into rsx type s if you can afford it. The k20a2 and 6 speed is super fun. Not fast by any means but there is something about how everything comes together that just feels right. The base model rsx and ep3 are pretty good as well. The a3 with 5 speed is not as good but still not bad. And you can find decent examples running around for a few grand. And that era doesnt have the theft problems that early hondas had.

I bought some for my Si as well as the Type r steering wheel I just got to install them since I am deployed right now so I have to wait until I get back sadly :( you were my inspiration for my civic and honestly if i would have documented everything I have done for my 99 civic Si I would have blew up cause I know how much people love your videos including me!

Make it easier, one of each head rest posts is held in by a spring clip. Pull the foam of the back down until you can see the spring clip. D ring pliers will make it easier, but needle nose pliers or a flat head screwdriver will work too.
Once the spring clip is removed the head rest will slide up and off the back cushion.
I have confetti del sol seats in my crx. I like the cover just wish the middle color went up as far as the original but I'm adding the cover to my list. They look great

S2000 steering wheel with Del-Sol seats in a civic yet it looks so right. I bet if you ask any person who knows nothing about Honda,s or any cars in general they'll think it's stock. But it's not

I reupholstered some Del Sol seats using an expensive "Katzkin" leather kit for my Em1 (way back in the day)and something you may be interested to do since your original seat material is pretty bad (shit) is to use some strong spray glue between the seat cover and the stock seat material so the cover actually conforms to the seat shape. Granted, if you remove the covers the original material will be f'd from the spray glue but, for $30 seats and covers that are essentially permanent, it would really improve the look so that middle section isn't tented out like it is. The beauty of the del sol seats is the bolstering over the stock junky seats. Anyway, just an idea/suggestion.
After a few rides in the car the cover really begins to form much better after it stretches. The covers really do fit like a glove and have no wiggle at all

Another affordable interior mod you can do is swap in a CRV cluster. I just finished doing it with upgraded led strip lighting as back lighting. Much nicer than the stock civic. Like the seat covers, too. If my integra seats weren't in good condition, i'd do that

I'd also check out the Fastline Performance extended shifter from Jhpusa. I love k tuned shifters but In my opinion the Fastline to me just looks really clean & bit more subtle than ktuned.
just picked up a 2003 ex because of you, i was never a honda fan never in my life. Thought id never get one but after seeing how clean yours was just made me want the cheap parts and reliability. i got a nice 5spd, has some seats i dont know if they are stock or not ill dm you some pics on ig

Please try to find a nice set of OEM floor mats. I'm not sure if you've ever talked about it before or anything so I'm sorry if you have but I just think some super clean OEM mats would really set that interior off.

If your seats are still not form-fitting you should go ahead and get a can of spray glue for cloth and go ahead and spray the seat underneath the cover that way the leather part will actually stick to it and it will form fit better
It’s rock solid with just the straps. No sliding whatsoever! Glue would be a more permanent option

Thank you for the video. I have a 93 del sole with original seats. The drivers side is beginning to rip in a couple of places. These seat covers look amazing and I almost bought them on a whim while watching this, but I’m concerned about how hot they would get. Sun’s out bun’s our is my motto. I live in short shorts during the summer and I opted keep my roof tucked in my trunk. I bet these would get HOT in the sun. Might be worth it to keep a towel in the car and sit on it? I will stitch up my original covers but I want to preserve them as best I can and these might be a good option.

My 98 civic EJ used to be a courtesy car, I have a problem with my headliner drooping, and cigarette burns on sun visor, seats, and centre console (not from me, I don't smoke). Mainly concerned with the drooping headliner at this point, any help or suggestions please?
