Honda S2000 AP1 Steering Wheel Install | EK & EJ Civic

  • Today I install a MINT Honda S2K AP1 steering wheel into my daily Honda Civic! This can be done on a variety of Civic models such as the EK and EJ and is a HUGE upgrade over the stock wheel.
The Install for the new Civic steering wheel is pretty straight forward but this should be a helpful video for anyone that needs to replace a Civic air bag or wants to upgrade to an aftermarket wheel. The S2000 wheel is nice because it retains the SRS air bag, horn function, and can be setup for cruise control. For reference, I'm installing the wheel in my 1999 Civic Ej8 Ex Model, but this should be the same routine for all 96-00 Honda Civics.
Honestly, the hardest part of this entire process was just finding a nice S2K steering wheel to upgrade to. You can also use an AP2 wheel but I do like the look of the AP1 more. Everything else is cake minus a few tight bolts. Most people upgrade their wheel to an NRG or some sort of quick release wheel, but if you have felt an S2K wheel, then you know how nice they are! I would recommend getting some kind of steering wheel lock like The Club to prevent theft or your new wheel getting stolen.
After the install, I give you a quick initial review of the wheel and I LOVE IT! Makes for a whole new driving experience and really does FEEL like I'm driving a different car. Just goes to show how much a wheel can make a difference. Hopefully enjoy the video and found it helpful!

@@brandonixchop979 I know its been a while but im gonna throw this out for you since you seem to care about the car, an LX im assuming has a D16Y7 engine, probably also a manual? If its automatic those can only hold about 170hp tops before it will not last long in the car. They can handle the turbo and its been done plenty of times on this engines it is the only reliable cheap way to make power, but for that, make sure you go ahead and put in better pistons and rods, look up vitara builds, if it is the D16Y7 and you want VTEC look up the mini-me swaps and you can do that as well, keeping the block and upgrading the head to a Y8 or Z6 head or the likes. Remember to make it long lasting to get not the regular ARP head studs but the other upgraded ones to really clamp down to the head and not blow a head gasket.
There is plenty of research material out there so make sure you do your due diligence and research prior to pulling the trigger and buy parts. And remember to have fun!
