Been running prototype versions of this mod since March of 2020. Best money you can spend on the Max. Chris is a great guy and I would recommend his gear to anyone who feels like their Max could use more grunt. Awesome upgrade.

Is it more worth it to upgrade to the Fat Max Motor or do this battery upgrade? What happens if you upgrade both? Is there prone failure to certain parts?

Hey Ginger for that grommet piece you can probably use Sugru moldable glue to make a new seal around it.

i just looked at the battery upgrade and they are out of stock....ahhhhhhh.... To be able to increase from 30kmh\ to 50 km\h is so worth the price. I laugh because I bought mine and though wow this is fast enough. Saw your video and now its way to slow....The need for speed baby. I would kill to have 1 that goes 80 or 100 km\h Just not wanting to spend that much. I could buy a car or truck or daum....Good video my friend. Cheers

my update always fails i have g30lp it goes 32kmwith the speedboost on with SHUT (i want my g30lp to go to 40km) im in canada so US region basically so you cant flash firmware in 2024 anymore?
Gingy, thank you for all these videos for the Segway Ninebot Max G30. Mine arrived the other day and got the Gen 2. Am still exploring it and wished I had gotten a seat for it too as my legs star to cramp after riding for 15 mins.

ginge when you put the bag on with the battery you should of pushed the bag up the bar a bit more so you can get your foot under it i done it with my aovo pro2 and you can still fold it dwn well you can on mine
Was wondering why you didn't mention possibly mounting the battery bag to the center of the handlebar stem.....? Looks like it would fit and keep that front area clear for your footing. Also if there were a problem with the bag sliding down you could purchase one of the many plastic hooks that mount to the stem and secure it that way....? Just a thought. Seems like it would be out of the way and still look good.
It will fit up front and are kits to mount it in front :)
How much Ah is the external battery?
Does this work with other similar models? I just bought the Ninebot F40. They look to have similar builds but I wasn't sure, thanks!

Problem is if you run the battery too low, one of the Battery may be empty while the other may be still half full. This will kill the empty battery

Had literally same thoughts here, doing RC flying and cars for many years, it will break one of your batteries in the long run, unless BMS is smart enough and notice a lower voltage of a cell, and stops to continue driving.
You have to monitor and charge both batteries. They usually drain equally assuming you have charged both equally. When I am down to 20-30% on internal my external is about the same
I use xyio flasher or whatever you call it to try and upgrade the power on my scooter. But now it doesn't go higher than 20 km. So warning
Anyway will this battery booster override the downgrade I upload it to my scooter?

Any way to get the regenerative breaking to work again?
Please read! don't do this if you know nothing about wiring, battery. If you plug those two batteries together and the voltage is different, it can explode! I'm not even kidding. Or give you a big spark, that can result in fire, you CAN NOT stop once it started
Why would the voltages be different
I would research batterys before giving such advice. These are not parrallel connections, but series connections. Voltages can be different. What your referring to is putting to batterys in a (parrallel configuration) at different voltages and one will discharge (charge) the lower one at a very fast rate (which can cause a fire if not protected with a good bms) in series connection it is very different & does not apply to the same rules as a parrallel connection.
I’ve been using the same add on battery for about a year with zero issues 😵💫

So, how do we modify the ninebot max if it is past the stock 1.7.13 firmware?
yeah when that controller hits high temp those xt60 will melt causing a short and inevitably a fire

if only you can just modify the existing battery pack .i would do this.. but that battery bag up front. is not the look i want for my scooter. maybe in the coming years ,there will be a breakthrough in battery technology,where the packs are much smaller and lighter and more powerful

I have a gyrocopter flash pro max and it is very similar to the ninebot max. DO you think this 48Volt kit would be compatible with it?

You should tape those XT60 connectors together, they can come loose because of vibrations and cause serious fires (3D printing community has a lot of experience witht these connectors loosening and catching fire due to high resistance)

9:33 G30's standard battery is 36V, you put it parallel with a 48V battery with a Y-connector. Should it explode, or is there something 'nifty' in that Y-connector?
When putting batteries parallel, they should have the same voltage give or take 0.1V, right?
Its not parallel..its in series thats.why he has a connector key at the end of the video to complete the circuit
@@melardenio I’m not sure about series connection because then you’ll increase the voltage, 36v + 48v then the scooter will be running on 84v, I’m still not sure what type of connection the put in there, but I will find out really soon, my kit comes in today and I will be able to tell you guys all about it on a detailed video.

Yes, sir! Chris is a great guy, very helpful and knowledgeable. There is no doubt though that the Emove is a bit more fun than the upgraded max. They go about the same speed, but the Emove gets insane range and has quite a few more features.
What you SHOULD really at first to do is the both battery's should have the same voltage or at least near..

I don't think so because the firmware would be different but I can't say for certain. Only one way to find out

Nope. Doesn't work unless you get your hands on an old controller and put it in your scooter. They also sell the controllers you need for this upgrade on mymaxmods.com
Hey nice video. So I have a few questions regarding the mod.
1 how does the controller negotiate the 2 voltages?
2 the USB ports, does it draw power while the scooter is not running.
3 how is the power usage prioritize? Booster pack first then internal battery?

The two batteries are hooked together in series so the scooter controller just sees one large 48v battery instead of a small 12v and medium 36v. It uses power from them both at the same time while running. The USB ports only use power when the scooter is turned on.

Yup. Parallel additions usually aren't a problem. When you wire them in series and increase the voltage then things can get messy.

So I’m confused. When you do this are you disabling the battery that comes with it? Is it running on both? For example can you ride on the 48v and then when that runs out switch over to the stock 36v for additional range?
In drains in tandem with the stock pack so they both run out around the same time. You bring up a good point though, the aux pack gas a separate charger and needs to be charged separately to full each time.

I've used a 12v 7ah battery and 12v 14ah and now am running a 12v 17ah battery all AGM batteries. I'm 260lbs and with my current tune ive hit 28.583mph!

Yeah. It'd be custom but it's not hard. Just need to wire another pack in parallel with a splitter. Good to go.

I have not.... but I'd bet money that you could find another battery on Alibaba for that scooter. I opened up the deck on mine and there is a surprising amount of unused space under the deck...

Thats an error for incorrect system voltage. Make sure you properly flashed the correct firmware.

I don't know if the stock firmware or controller would allow for reflashing on that scooter.

Hey ginger I’ve followed all steps and my scooter auto shuts off at 24 mph n now it doesn’t turn on anymore. I’ve installed the 48v internal firmware.
You probably burnt your scooter or connectors.

hot tip the little doo dad wont complete any circuit if it did it would short out your internal battery.... just unplug the external battery it has the same effect.
lol if you unplug the external only the scooter will not start. The batteries are in series so you need to complete the circuit using the "little doo dad"

nordbot cells are really bad - if anything you should replace that nordbot before it explodes lol

You don't have to disconnect them. You do charge them separately though.
