      I KEEP VOICE NAVIGATION ON. It keeps riders in their place! I'm a professional... not your friend nor confidant! I'm taking you from point A to point B. And the voice navigation also lets riders know I'm a legit Uber driver.

    Another tip, dont ever accept a ride until you end your current ride, the app will always low ball you with stacked offer with lower fare and lower surge (and most often worst ride that nobody else wants), wait until you end your current ride then start accepting new rides with full upfront info reflecting actual surge in your area.

    • @GucciGamerTV

       @exciterxtc @GucciGamerTV Both good points. Depending on your market conditions, deadtime between pings can be a massive killer on your hourly earnings rate. And when you are dropping off in busy locations, it's not unusual to get a pickup right there. 0 downtime. 0 pickup miles. 0 pickup minutes. Most of the time, you're going to want that ride.

    • @wturner777
      @wturner777 Před rokem +16

      That depends on the market and the clientele. If you're driving in a tourist town, most people would likely tip. I picked up a couple at a hotel and they wanted to go to the nearby store across the street. Initially I was going to drop them off, but they wanted a ride back. I showed them how to add additional trips that way they could have a round trip and guaranteed the same driver. They didn't know they could do that. After all this was over, I received a $20 tip. Not all low-ball trips are bad. A little customer service can go a long way.

      @Tangleddogs Před rokem +11

      That's why he said turn off new request till you get there, that way you don't take a hit on your acceptance rate and just before you drop them off or just after turn on request again.

      @HarringJess Před 9 měsíci +2

      I like voice navigation, too. If I know where I'm going, I don't use the navigation, but the first time I played around with turning the sound off versus going into Waze that isn't navigating a trip, it was the only way to turn it off. But this guy freaked out because he couldn't hear the navigation and got confused. I always turn it back on as I'm approaching the destination because I like to hear "Drop off PAX name"

    For legal purposes, I never change the destination address to n the driver app. I’ve had a pax change the destination 3 times during the ride, and then put in a complaint that I didn’t take the most direct route to the final stop. Uber took away 3/4 of my fair, and if I hadn’t made him make the changes on his app I wouldn’t have proof that the route was of his making. Because I made him make the changes I got my full fair.

      Some people are horrible. I had people beg for free stops saying they didn’t know how, but promised to tip me big. Never got a dollar but waited on them for ten minutes to buy whatever. I reported them later and one stared them.

    • @HarringJess
      @HarringJess Před 9 měsíci +3

      Same! I make them do it, too. This one woman I picked up from the airport said her husband has her car, so she's not going home, she needs to go to a medical office, but it was the same town. Ironically Uber upped the fare for a 20min ride to $48 something and she added a tip. She said it was the first time she ever had to update something. But as she was plugging the address in, I said, "Oh, no, search the name of the business like your searching on Google. It's better for driver's to have a name, it gives us a visual, as opposed to a straight up address." But now that I know about changing the address, I'll only do it in an extreme situation, especially since I have a dashcam. Onetime this person tricked me by putting a far away address only to want to be dropped off around the corner. Her phone died, so she was asking me to change it, I said, "I'm not changing it. You made the request, so you have to change it." We waited for the phone to wake back up after charging, then she changed it. I called Uber and they gave me the full fair. She tricked the driver because with upfront pricing, we know where your going. And what I mean by "far," I mean heading into a busy area whereas her original destination was a few mins around the corner at a lower fare.
      When it happened a 2nd time, I told the pax, "I don't know why you guys are doing this. You guys are putting busy areas to make us think you're going there, then you get into the car and ask to change the destination to a few mins up the street. I love short trip rides, but the money needs to be worth it because I'm not dropping someone off for $5 unless I'm on a Quest. I'm happy to take you to the original destination that you put, otherwise you need to cancel and be matched to another driver." She sucked her teeth, and I took her to the original destination. What's funny is I saw the fare drop from $23 to $6; the other lady, the fare was $15 for 5min drive and also dropped to $6.
      I explained to her that she was probably having a hard time getting a ride until you put a destination in a different area, but you can't do that. Just wait for it to surge, someone will get you for a short trip.

      @@HarringJessSadly, experienced riders learn the tricks that they can get away with and if they want to be let out of the car early the driver has to comply or otherwise open up a huge can of worms possibly leading to criminal charges. Not worth the trouble or risks. Just suck it up, let them out, lodge your complaint with Uber so it goes on that riders record so Uber can see a pattern develop with that rider and move on to the next.

    They need a way to decline when someone adds a stop in the middle or at the end of a ride. I ain’t waiting for someone to go grocery shopping while I wait…call another Uber when you’re done

    • @HarringJess
      @HarringJess Před 9 měsíci +1

      Every time I accept a trip and then immediately "A stop has been added" or "Drop off Updated," I call to ask what it was they changed or updated. If they don't respond by phone (speaking is often better), then I'll text and if no response, I cancel the trip. This one college student updated his drop off but I told him it doesn't show us where because we have upfront pricing. He said it was another part of campus and he was just being lazy because he didn't want to walk LOL! I said, "Okay, no problem." When he was in the car, we talked about how many people change their destinations because they know some drivers won't go certain places, so they put one place, then when someone accepts their trip, they switch it to another location.

I canceled the second part of the trip when the girl was in the motel making the deal. Unfortunately she had left her purse in my car (they try to leave something because they think you have to wait.) Her and Uber tried to contact me and I told Uber what had happened and that I wasn’t going back. I dropped off the purse at the nearest police department and gave them all the info of what just happened and filed a report and showed them the dashcam of the girl. The girl reported that I “dropped her off in an unsafe location” to Uber, which was the shady hotel she had requested. It was a big waste of time and Uber did not reimburse me for any of it of course. I hope the police got her

    I had 1 passenger recently act like she didn’t know how to update her destination address. I verified her name and she gave me my name in return. This ride was in the middle of the day in a very slow part of town. I asked to show her on my passenger app. She wasn’t interested in seeing the way to edit the address. She asked if I could change the address in the driver app so I did. BIG MISTAKE. After the ride was completed I noticed my fare for the ride disappeared. The app said I gave the wrong person a ride. I have been driving for both Rideshare companies for over 5 years now. The worst part wasn’t loosing the money but he 1 star rating I received. So I called and spoke to customer support. They informed me there was nothing they could do. My question to the customer service person. “ Why should a passenger get to rate the driver if they state they didn’t receive the ride in the first place? The really sad part is the same company tried to match me with the same passenger again the following week after they rated me a 1 star. I pulled up and laughed and drove off.

I always turn off "ride requests" after picking up a rider to stop them from making any changes to the ride because i do not like surprises to the original ride that I agreed to take. "Stop New Requests" prevents the rider from making changes of any kind to their ride. If they then want out early so be it.

If the Order value is $5+ Tips, distance is 3 miles or 4 miles this is a good order. When you are driving you should consider Depreciation of the Vehicle, wear & tear of vehicle, Gas used for driving and your time spent driving the vehicle. On Lyft I do only XL rides ( because there is virtually no surges outside of an occasional $1 or $1.25.) I average $32+ per hour this way and over $1 per mile for ALL miles and I live about 20 miles from my driving area. I also always turn the apps on as soon as I get in the car. To be fair to riders i also stop requests after accepting a ride. Riders shouldn't have to wait for you to drop off the first ride then go to them.That can be a long (too long) a wait for them they could be searching other options. They usually get mad and end up canceling or not being there. Then you might say well too bad i will just wait, cancel when told and take their money. Would you want to be treated like that? Uber loses business doing that practice. So i do what Uber should be doing imo.

Been driving for 4 months now and still learning the ins and outs of the app. I wouldn’t turn of ride requests only for the fact that I didn’t want to waste time in finding new rides. But lately, I’ve found myself losing time anyway because I would get rides that would send me to dead areas. It’s difficult to be driving and entertaining the passenger(s) and also trying to figure out where the destination is for that queued ride. I've never had a single rider complain, but I also keep it low. While it's super low or off on Comfort rides, the main reason I keep it audible on X rides is so folks hear real-time arrival and traffic conditions. Folks are married to their routes, and some even the estimated time from Uber, so I like to have it clearly known why I'm taking "that way" lol

    Two things to add, first, in my market a few weeks ago they changed the location of how to thank a passenger for a tip. Took me couple days to find it but it is still there but smaller in the finished rides info screen so you have to look harder. Second, just learned this useful tip from another video that if you do not want a rider to make adjustments to their ride while you are in route like adding stops definitely use the "stop requests" button and it will not only stop new ride requests from coming in but also not allow the current rider to make new requests such as adding stops or changing the destination. If the rider attempts to do so and complains that they are not able to make changes just play dumb as to why they cannot do so......lol

      I think in your market you might not have upfront pricing yet. I would ask the passenger where they're going. You can decline and cancel, your an independent driver. I did that to someone who tried to trick me by updating the drop off while I was on another ride. I never heard the "Drop off updated," so when I picked them up, started the trip, it said 1 hr 32 mins away, I said, "Did you change this trip from 5mins away?" They didn't answer and said, "We'll get out." No way I'm driving 90mins for $40, when in the past it was $90

    I didn't know about drivers being able to change their (riders) destination i would imagine the rider had to agree with that change since it would change their costs. And for their safety as well. Alot of times they (riders) claim they r not allowed to put in a stop. Which may or may not be true that would be a way to test that out. 4:29

  • @Jeffrey125s
    @Jeffrey125s Před rokem

    One feature that has been around for some time is the Drivers insight dashboard. Usually located in Home Screen but once a week Uber was sending it through the inbox. It included information for trips speeding and a new feature recently added was harsh braking (at least in my market) the Harsh braking is or was severely too sensitive. Exiting the interstate at 70 mph, with a short exit ramp was considered harsh braking even though it was steady, not slamming brakes. Another was coming up to yellow light on a 45-50 mph highway and not enough room to go through, especially with a short yellow light. 07/03 was the last time I received the insights dashboard through inbox, and not on home screen anymore. Last week the 07/03 dashboard link stopped working giving me an error message when opening. Do you have any knowledge of this stopping? If they bring back, I hope they work on the calculations. Slowing down at a yellow light using firm, but steady braking especially with good brakes isn’t harsh braking but they calculate it a certain way using your phone. It no longer shows up in Home Screen and hasn’t sent in inbox in over 3 weeks, used to weekly. Thanks
