  • Prof Medvinsky's group at the University of Edinburgh's MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine studies Haematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). In the developing embryo these cells ultimately give rise to the adult haematopoietic system. The main direction of Prof Medvinsky's research is to investigate cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the generation and expansion of haematopoietic stem cells in the mammalian embryo. The group broadly uses genetic and experimental haematology techniques to study the embryonic sources of HSCs, their early biology and their relationship with vascular endothelial cells. Based on these in vivo studies we aim to develop novel protocols to generate HSCs from embryonic stem (ES) cells. www.crm.ed.ac.u....
