  • A circular walk in the western part of the Forest Fawr, a region of the Brecon Beacons national park. Starting and finishing at Cray Reservoir, I head initially up the minor road towards Heol Senni gaining the ridge up to Pen Bwlch Chwyth, Y Gelli, Yr Allt and finally Fan Gyhirych. Amazing clear views at Fan Gyhirych of the Black Mountain, Swansea Valley and as far as the sea and Exmoor in North Devon.

Good stuff - once ascended the west flank of Fan Gyhirych. Just the once, mind!

@@citizencairn5230 Ha ha , just once! Yeah it’s insanely steep isn’t it, given it’s just a walk rather than a scramble. More tiring than a scramble too as it’s all legs! Thanks for the comment . Best wishes

Superb Adam - enjoyed in full. You smashed that one out but gave a great commentary. For sure this one was all about the views. Black Mountain next - you could spend a fair bit of time exploring that me thinks. All the best. Mark

@@WyeExplorer Thanks Mark, yes I did it a bit quicker than usual as was in a hurry to get back to watch the England football final! What a shame that was , oh well! Yes the Black Mountain has years worth of exploring there I reckon. Hope you’re having a good week

@@WyeExplorer Hi Mark yeah it was a cracking game of football, lots of drama and a good contest. Was gutted that we lost though but they were the better team to be fair. Glad you’re having a good week

@@adamradford2285 I thought it was entertaining too. My mate Andy who is on some of my videos was going a bit nuts when GB levelled. A good night had but sorry to hear you were gutted there. I will have a good week. Peace.

Cracking walk Adam. I was surprised your starting point - that is eck of a pull from that starting point, you must have crossed the mountain track twice I would assume or did you walk up Heol Senni and then turn right to follow the fence? The route you took up onto Fan Gyhirych is deffo a challenging walk, especially after doing the circuit you had done thus far, the road is a better/easier option and turn right around the back. Hearing you mention Dunkery Beacon I haven't been up that in over 20 years I reckon. The view at 7:52 (cracking pic) is a fave view of mine. Yma O Hyd is a Welsh Folk Song by Dafydd Iwan and a fave of the Welsh Football Fans.. it translates to We're Still Here. Have a look online for the video.. it's rousing. I was on Pen Bwlch Chwyth in January but was in clag and its a few years since I been up on Fan Gyhirych but I did a short video afew years ago in the snow. Nice watch mid morning whilst having a cuppa. atb Al

I see you have done zero research on you pronouncing the Welsh Hills, it is not hard, and it is so much more of an enjoyable walk, you have picked a really good route for the peaks you have done, well done,

@@NatSatFat Hi thanks for the comment , it was a lovely route thanks and very enjoyable. I admit I’m not the best at pronouncing the Welsh Hills but then I’m at a disadvantage being English and born in Oxford , home of the queens English! To be fair most of the Welsh people I know haven’t got a clue how to pronounce many of them either.. but then I do live in a part of Wales that has minimal Welsh speakers. I will ask for help from the next Welsh speaker I meet - I could certainly learn a lot! 😂 best wishes

Thanks Alan , yes it was a decent pull that one , both me and the dog are exhausted this morning, sat aching on the sofa lol. I walked from the reservoir car park up the main road then right onto the minor road towards Heol Senni then exactly as you say took the steep fence path up to Fan Bwlch Chywth. Good to hear you’ve been up there. I agree that’s a fantastic views off the Fan Gyhirych summit.
Could you send me the link for the video for your visit there in the snow? Would like to watch that. Thanks for educating me about the Welsh writing on the trig! I Google translated as ‘still here’ which I though was weird but now I know the context that makes total sense! The same is written on Fan Brycheniog summit.. will check out the Welsh folk song now! Best wishes
