I covered a quick demo of Fear The Spotlight last month, but the full game has just been released! Really loved the story, voice acting and visual style. Also, it has a post-credits stinger that I'd recommend hanging about for! :)
Yay🎉
god bless you and your family bro
YES! I remember the demo you played and the original showcase of the game a year or two ago. I'm so excited to see what this is about! I'm happy for the team having finished the game.
A month ago? Damn, it seemed way longer than that to me. I must be getting old! 😂
What I like about this game is that it will make people interested in going to the library again. Libraries are so neglected now that social media and video games command so much of our attention.
Here's a theory: Mr. Crane is the spotlight head monster, he was probably the one who caused the chandelier to fall on and kill Chrissy after she discovered the photos, i assume he did something bad to Raoul but we may never know. In the ending, the school staff was aware of what actually happened, but they covered it up to protect their public image.
The hint with the trashcan the pipe was found in was that Mr Cane smashed Raoul's head in, and burnt his body to hide it.
More like a theory, is the plot of the entire game
@@luisherrero6501we are in a world where literally the story of a game or movie is being called a theory or lore.
the trashcan full of ash and other burnt material has a bloody pipe and half a promise neclace
Not a theory, that's the plot. Mr. Crane 100% killed Raoul and then Chrissy, he also was prepared to kill everyone in the opening night since the pipe on his secret room was missing, thus making the sprinkles fail. His spotlight form is also charred, he probably wanted to die, now the question is: was he planning to come back as a demon?
The small creatures Vivian found in her journey are the kids that died in the fire, you can see they mean no harm, they actually want to help defeating Spotlight. However, since they were so mean in their gossip one must ask if they are seeking closure for their deaths or absolution for their sins.
That ending stinger!
makes you wonder if there will be a sequel or turn a “the heroines made it! Happy ending” into “the conspiracy goes deeper but, there will be no happy ending here”.
You could always headcanon that Viv made an excuse that the teacher accepted, and the ending stays happy.
I know I already commented, but now having watched the whole thing-- this game excels in so many ways. The eye for scene composition, the cinematic maturity of the cutscenes, the various cameras mechanics that seemlessly change over based on the character's context.... it's REALLY well done. This is some AAA artistic attention and skill. Well done dev team!
@AuranCrash its still cute
Vivian at the beginning: I really hope we don't get in trouble!
24:21: *attempts grave robbing/desecration*
25:00 normal school: we have to stop kids from sniffing glue!
This school: meh, if we can't fight it, why not profit from it?
Haha, time for some high-er learning! :)
That's some unusual meth-odology.
I find it ironic that the monster this time is a creature "based on an object that illuminates" and not the other way around, like many other horror games, where they take advantage of our primordial fear of the dark to make us feel terrified. Here, however, IT IS THE LIGHT THAT KILLS YOU, literally. It's a complete twist.
Spotlight made me think of the aliens in War of the Worlds Tom Cruise movie and how their machines used lasers and spotlights
It's so refreshing to see people so easily impressed. In MANY games, being illuminated is basically danger or a game over because you are spotted by the enemy. Being in the dark is literally the objective of every stealth mechanic in games.
@@itsgonnabeanaurfrommeYeah, but I think the OP was referring to how in horror games, the monsters are typically manifestations of darkness (or products of darkness in the case of the RE games) where as here it's a being a light, kinda like the Projectionist in Bendy.
WOW! That game is like a miniature art piece! Pure excellence in atmosphere and tension departments.
All is done simply yet with care, skill and clean vision! Cudos to the devs!
Man this game feels so fresh and is so gorgeous in general! I really liked that with little hints you get to understand the general story behind Chrissy. Really loved your gameplay man, thanks for the awesome content :)
I tell you I was on the EDGE of my seat the whole time. Love that SurHor is getting a resurgence.
I love how this game has taken inspiration from Silent Hill while still remaining fresh and new with its own identity. Mainly the interactive puzzles like Shattered Memories and the head gazing upon items from Silent Hill 2 are nice throwbacks. Very well done.
the spotlight reminded me heavily of The evil within the assignment dlc, a monster that has the same feature-like spotlight and will give chase if you're in it's gaze killing you instantly if it manages to capture you
1:04:04 The name Amy means "Beloved" and Tanaka means "Center of rice paddy". Can't believe they have a character named Beloved Center of Rice Paddy.
Vivian means "lively" or "alive" and Singh means "lion" and is used to denote hero or eminent person. So her name is Alive Heroine.
Raoul means wolf-counsel and Rousseau means redhead. Redhead wolf-counsel.
Jessica means Vision/sight/wealth or God beholds and Elias means the Lord is my God. We know she is mean and duplicious so she is probably from a rich family, hiding behind a façade of a dogooder christian.
@@AntipaladinPedigri what's with the facts bro.
@@rickrolld9023I was just curious whether the name's were on purpose
Been excited to play this game, thought it was going to be a shorter game, glad to see it be around 2 hours! Demos are great!
Yeah around 2 hours is a perfect playtime for a game like this. The length of a good horror movie! :)
Great ending. But at the end, the spirit board should have moved and said "goodbye".
There was a game covered on this channel a long while ago, about a company of workers who dig tunnels underground. People keep dying but this one guy keeps on digging and he keeps on finding letters or smth that keep calling to him.
Anyone remember such a game?
I think I know which one you mean. There was a statue at the bottom, I think. The workers went crazy and soon started digging with their bare hands.
I think it might be The Mutated Realty. Loved that game! :) czcams.com/video/8kisTFhHsY8/video.html
I was not expecting a full game so soon❤🎉
This was actually amazing, on par with indie game legends
This is a pretty interesting survival horror with no combat & a interesting, but dark backstory. That monster deserved what he had coming. At first, I thought it would have been a happy ending, till that epilogue part showed that Vivian was investigating that file cabinet, looking through those documents, till that mysterious teacher came in. After the horrors she has went through to save Amy & confess her feelings towards her for there relationship to be a little more than what it already is. I hope she didn't get killed by that teacher.
Who knows? Maybe she could have been secluded or just expelled from the school to make sure she wouldn't reveal the truth... At any rate, it'd be worth a sequel, no doubt about it! Maybe one where you control Amy to save Vivian (just speculating, of course )
One part of me thinks that teacher could be Heather Moore - but that is a crack theory on my part.
Man, I would love 5 hours of this and a lot more interaction with both characters (Amy). As it is, it's pretty dang great.
4:44 this ending made me cry as it brought alot in my heart 😭
Man, the voice acting is incredible.
The ending really shattered me, but I feel a sequel since this is about finding the school's mysteries. What the teachers covered up.
What an amazing game! The execution was superb, the progression and level design perfect! 10/10, no doubt.
49:01 no, she's been hit by, she's been struck by a smoothie criminal.
(And rumbling, explosive diarrhoea)
14:17 Amy: *moves the indicator telekinetically*
*is surprised by the paranormal*
1:12:48 - Viv banging out the tunes!
everything from it is quite creepy especially the possible identity of Spotlight head
Yeah, the Spotlight Head seems a whole lot more sinister when you find out who he is!
Good indie videogames are like good arthouse genre movies: small-budgeted gems with great focus and artistic direction. My only (small) complaint is the use of the overclichéd "voyeuristic-mad-art-professor" trope.
The fate of Chrissy and Raoul was pretty sad, tho.
Everything is great, and the voice acting is top-notch!
It's look great can't wait to play it
12:06 Amy has ovaries of steel with not being impressed with the indicator moving on its own and suggesting bedsheet maths.
Excellent game! Was enthralled the whole time.
With all the Fear The segments, I'm real disappointed we didn't Fear The Old Blood. I think someone forgot the adage!
love this channel so much
Great stuff!
15:36 would be funny if the game randomly switched into the Inscription game with Leshy
1:12:49 a master pianist at work here
Looks awesome
I seen the demo for this game and it looked like it was going to be good especially having Spotlight as the villian. It did not disappoint. The devs put a lot of work into the game's plot and atmosphere. It reminded me a whole lot of the Phantom of the Opera with how Mr. Crane was as obsessed as the Phantom and the tragedy was a falling chandelier that burned down the Opera house. ( Le Phantome de La Opera, Gaston Leroux)

bought this because of you previous video. cant wait to finish it
Awesome! Hope you enjoy the game! :)
so made it to the final showdown, gonna save that for tomorrow. thank you for your channel and it's content. i keep finding fun gems thru you. @@AlphaBetaGamer
How does this channel not have a million views?
This is what Velma Dinkley would look like in the style of Courage the Cowardly Dog. =)
The original Velma, btw, not that woke, modern Velma.

Old Light Head reminds me a lot of the Projectionist.
Really loved this retelling of phantom of the opera
Help, why is this the exact thing I thought-😂😂
I'm a hardcore fan of the book and it was the first thing that popped in my head as soon I saw 'Raoul' and 'chandelier' in the comments
SO, a little asthmatic girl can just carry a jack that weighs like ~35kg. in her pocket? Gotta love game logic, lmao.
That was a really cool game.
The spotlight head monster reminds me of the Projectionist from Bendy And The Ink Machine.
This game is fantastico
She looks like younger Miss Pauling before she starts working at Mann Co.
The game has been delisted for renovations
*Looks like the game "Walk".*
Too scary for schools and polygons and spotlights
i hope this game to re release and even hit consoles
Nice game, need in mobile 😅 one day
They have to call it a "spirit board" because the more commonly used, "Ouija board" is a trademark of Hasbro, the makers of "Monopoly" and "My Little Pony". Kinda takes the scary out of it.
Reader beware you are in for a fright- I wonder if they got that from Goosebumps (when Vivian opens the display case in the library)
Ah, a horror game with a nod to Phantom of the Opera...
That's nice.
Footsteps sound straight up from Phasmo.
hey guys recommend some horror games for me like this one cause this was so Good one 😊❤

Edit: the backlight to my monitor decided to stop working, guess I’ll have to wait lol
Awesome! Hope you like it! :)
Vivian kinda looks like Daria Morgendorffer

No longer available on Steam. Bryan and Crista are working on improvements - February 16, 2024
This game is very good, it deserves recognition
Why do they leave the candles lit at the end? wouldn't that start a SCHOOL FIRE? idk call me crazy for wondering
👍
This game was really cool! Glad to a game that is spooky due to scenery/story and isn't just a jumpscare simulator. I hope amy and viv get a happy ending tho.
There is going to be a sequel maybe who knows
Does anyone know why this game was pulled from Steam?
I love this game. Can someone tell me another game like this one on Steam? A horror game with those PS1 graphics.
You could try The Heilwald Loophole. I love that game! :)
This is 99% Silent Hill 1
Somebody please put this on the Nintendo switch. I'd play it in a heartbeat.
What is the "original" date of the school... 2016? 2022?
They stole that spotlight monster from The Evil Within DLC!
1:30:15
Wow nice but that's cool game he's horror (I scared lol)
um amy's hand is not on the planchet ... should not work without it
the games relaxing and casual then it gets to that puzzle in the Fear the gymnasium section!
56:17 "unfortunately" even the teachers hated her!
pretty much knew the entire plot after this note 1:00:21
The story?
So the drama/theatre club teacher mr crane. was in love with a student called amy. because of this and corruption. he started a fire to get rid of her competition and presumably locked Raoul in a secret dungeon in the basement. where he might have been beaten to death with the bloody pipe.
amy who lived kept the burnt rose, since she feels guilty that she is somewhat connected to all those deaths.
perhaps it is because she used that rose with the ouija board that it summoned the evil spirit of the deceased teacher which led to the events of the game.
***Spoilers***
According to the notes, the girl Mr. Crane was after was a girl named Crissy, the girlfriend of Raoul. She became lead of the play, but discovered the truth behind Mr. Crane’s deeds (ex. The photos of of her and the prison key), and rushed to the stage to share the horrifying news.
As you can see later on in the sewers, Mr. Crane was responsible for literally bringing the chandelier down on Crissy, killing her and all the backstage participants, possibly himself included.
His spirit began to send Amy(!) the roses, due to her strong resemblance to the deceased Crissy.
Your stuff is a bit mixed up regarding Amy and Crissy, but it’s about right!
The story reminds me of the Are You Afraid of the Dark episode, The Tale of the Secret Admirer, which has a similar, yet less dark premise.
👍
You are extremely fast at reading 😂
Judging by the epilogue, I assume we're getting a sequel or dlc? (Please let it be yes to either.)
22:23 no (:
lmao its literally Daria
interesting little story of 2 girls stoned af tripping out playing around with a spirit-board.
Vivian: lesbian
Amy: lesbi... friends
???
That's not what just happened.
She got roommatezoned
@@AntipaladinPedigri I'm confused. I have literally just seen Amy saying she felt the same. How is that not a gay lovers situation?
Oh maybe I didn't get to that part yet. I meant the phone call half way through the game.
11:34 internet for- I’m sorry *WHAT!?* did she just say they went to an Internet forum to get occult knowledge?
I know the books are no better with information being either misinterpreted, lost in translation, missing key parts, or worse- intentionally made for you to mess up the ritual.
But if Internet forum articles are anything to go by, she either did not do her research properly or a cultist pulled a occult version of “mix bleach and ammonia to create crystals!”.
Either way, don’t mess with the occult unless you have safeguards in place.
Occult magic is bullshit, it's not real
The only "safeguards" necessary for dealing with the occult are stuff like "don't leave crystal balls uncovered in sunlight, they're a giant magnifying glass."
Those "rituals" are about as likely to harm someone as pointing a stick and saying "avada kedavra"
@@toahero5925 in reality mayhaps but, as we saw here- it led to a demonic [name redacted] becoming spotlight head and his victims being creepy charred shadow people (who I still don’t know if they actually can harm you or if the spotlight and fire are the only damaging influence).
Don’t know the rules for the “1991 school” dimension but I wonder if it would be the same as the phantasmaphobia universe.

HA GAY
So what they end up lesbian in the end? Wow....
So is every horror game just going to be about lesbians now?
So a game about two underage lesbians... I was wondering why I was so impressed by the demo and why the full game does not make an impression at all despite the huge work done. The answer is, as it seems to me, that author of the game had no impression themself of the idea they wanted to incorporate. They are professionals, yes, but they have no passion. The only thing they wanted to do is to make two LGBT persons the main heroes - and that's what they put in the game. And that is not what I'm interested in.
The same feelings was about the Doom WAD My House. It is not clever, it's only complicated.
Gotta love that PS1 'jitter'.
Fasion version of velma
36:30 I guess none of the devs have used a land line.
41:46 I guess none of the devs have used a raffle drum.
50:32 I guess none of the devs have used a urinal.
1:22:30 I guess none of the devs have used an overhead projector.
I guess the devs haven't used a jack. Those are heavy even for a grown bulky guy like me. Viv just struts with it under her arm.
@@AntipaladinPedigri
Not to mention the jack stand rod coming straight up out of a floor jack. So bad.
This is exactly the kind of game I was referring to back when I wondered about the recent glut of short horror games that feel like they were written by precocious children. A good deal of technical competence, but precious little grasp of the world or how it works.
"Welding glue." Sigh...
