    Wats up man... The truth is this (and nothing else)...
    If I build a high output one gear engine and transmission (GY6) I WANT A REV LIMITER!!!!!
    Why? Because the engine will outrun the motor and if you rev beyond the limit over time bad things happen.
    So if build a motor stronger than the transmission and it runs outta gear (so to speak) I'll needa sticker on the side of it that says "don't run it too hard" or maybe "do not stick your fingers under the lawnmower deck while the blades are in motion".
    So I Like the rev limiter...
    Funnny thing though... it costs more to include one so none of these restricted things come with em.
    Recon they figured if they designed something that couldn't get outta it's on way it was cured?
    So limiting rpm?
    I was once at a party where a couple got into a argument (you know one man and his wife)...
    She went outside and started his ford pickup and pressed the peddle to the floor in park/neutral and held it there...
    We all giggled as the rev limiter would not allow her to blow that motor up.
    Rev limiters are good, cheap junk is not.
    And BTW I currently own 2 50cc scooters (we used to call all Harley's scooters back in the day ya know) and am in need of a couple of limited rpm cdi's now...
    Moral of the story? The Sycle determines output. The cdi? Only if you need to slow the Jr. down.
    How bout them apples 🙂

    Your engine is physically running out of power before it can reach the CDI rev limit. By that I mean your engine can't physically rev any harder regardless of CDI.

    You keep replying, "we are running it til it blows" when people point out that you need your valves adjusted. Are you purposely seeing how long it will run with no maintenance, as a scientific experiment? Or do you just not have the knowledge or gumption to adjust the valves? There isn't much point trying to gain speed, when your valve clearance is out of spec. Yours sound loose(too much clearance) which means your valves aren't opening as much as they should, and your engine isn't getting as much intake charge as it could, or flowing as much exhaust as it could. Bad for power. Also bad for your camshaft, rockers, and valve tips as those can be pounded into scrap from the excessive clearance. Like I said, if this is an experiment to see how much neglect the engine can take, I completely understand. If not, you really should adjust those valves...

    • @dirtbikedadgarage4662
      @dirtbikedadgarage4662  Před 2 lety

      I have adjusted the valves on this but virtually no other maintenance. It has a wobbly crank, a couple seal leaks, and an exhaust leak. I have a 100cc engine that we are going to plop in it for fun but my kids are still putting around on it so no need yet until she kicks it for good. Then I’ll pop it off and check it out, maybe make a video of it.
