Those were the days where you believed that one game can change your life. And you thought about it all day and dreamed about it all night. You can't get that music out of your head for a while.
Hm. And to think, almost 26 years after this game was released, we get a game where Megaman is outfitted with a device of Wily's original design. Happy 30th, Megaman.
Its been more than 20 years since this game came out, and I still remember it like it was yesterday. This game feels so fresh to me. Something about Megaman X just feels timeless.
+Yoshifreak2000 i'm sorry man, I'm really really sorry... but it just isn't.You must have rose tinted glasses because I played this for the first time this week. The level design is SO sloppy. It's just enemy spam with unfuriating knockback until you get to the boss which is pretty damn easy if you know the weakness. If you get low you just stand there and exploit the respawn box of the enemies to get RNG health. It was a fucking chore to beat, and the only way it imposes difficulty is giving you a big fuck you and sending you back to the beginning of the filler stage if you die 3 times. Mega man 2 was 100x better
I'm glad to be the 22 year old guy who loved to play SNES games like this back when I was a kid. It lightens up my memories and brings a large spark to the world.
You know, it’s interesting that Light was worried about X being unstoppable if he chose to violate the first law of robotics, but left behind armor upgrades to make him more powerful. Sounds like he put a lot of faith in X staying loyal to humanity.
I think Light put that message for a worst case scenario. However, I personally feel Light had enough faith in his creations that X wouldn't go Maverick. Especially since it's the evolution of Mega Man, his most trusted robot who's saved the world time and time again. He just wrote it as a warning to be very careful with X and to basically like not give him blood lust
The charm behind Megaman X is that the gameplay never goes stale, that's why it had so much replayablility. First reason is the dynamic level design and how the player is obliged to engage accordingly. Chill Penguin's stage was straightforward and had a balanced amount of enemies that came at you from both the ground and the air - perfect for a second starter stage. Flame Mammoth's stage had conveyor belts that affected your left and right movement so you had to time your opportunity to go past obstacles that hindered your progress. Boomer Kuwanger's stage made you climb all the way upwards with ladders and forced you to deal threats coming down from above. Sting Chameleon's stage took a more subtle approach with enemies either appearing from out of the background or disguising themselves, forcing you to pay more attention to your surroundings. Spark Mandrill's stage would dim the lights down to make foes attack you instantly across the screen, testing your reaction time. Storm Eagle's excelled in moving air platforms that behaved differently and your survival was dependent on how well you could jump and land across stuff. Armored Armadillo's stage put emphasis on being chased by the machine, pressuring you to use brute force and quick wit while constantly fighting your way through a horde of enemies within a small, limited space. Launch Octopus's stage took your journey to the water which meant your gravity was affected, giving the enemies a slight advantage to pull you into spikes and voids - positioning your self was important here. Second reason is the difficulty. I hear some people say this game was kinda easy. I disagree, in my eyes it was just a moderate game that only got easier through trial and error. Because as with most Megaman games, you had to earn your easy mode through experimentation with how the power-ups work on the bosses and stages (by the way, this was all before we had CZcams and instant internet information). When players finally knew the in's and out's of the game, they would set their own rules on how they would beat the game again, like doing "Mega-Buster only" playthroughs. This was much better than just slapping a generic difficulty since the player could decide how easy or difficult they wanted things to go at certain points of the game. Another example of this done right is classic Starfox. Or, I could be wrong and it's more to do with being a bunch of futuristic reploids in a dystopian plot with cool weapons blasting their way through a maverick unit while listening to kickass rock music wondering what the hell are they fighting foooorrrrrrr..... but you gamers can decide that.
Ahh...The memories, the old days, no downloading, no online, no smart phones, no tablets, no Xbox ps1,2,3,4, no DVD's, no HD, no DLC, no flat screen tv's, no Kardashians, no CZcams, no social media, just you and X. life was so different back then. Back when games had less or no dialogue certain games had no save points. Give me a thumbs up if you're that 90's kid growing up.

Armored Armadillo
Launch Octopus
Boomer Kuwanger
Sting Chameleon
Storm Eagle
Flame Mammoth
NEVER FORGET IT!
Tranks Bro.
Actually theres no right order, theres just the best order, i finished the game starting with flame mammoth then penguin then .....
I will always remember this
The only problem I had with this playthrough is the fact that the player did NOT use his Shotgun Ice, ever.
I can only rate this a 93/100!
So what do you call 1:06:26?
Sin526 I meant the fact that he didn't use it against a certain enemy.
axelrayne69 You mean Spark Mandrill?
Sin526 yup.
I've always found that he's much more fun to play with just the Buster as opposed to just freezing him in place over and over again until he dies, out of all the mavericks he suffers the worst effect from his weakness IMO.
I loved this game.. I didnt realize this was one of the earliest releases of megaman
so much nostalgia for this game
got it on ebay :)
20:23. "DAMN IT!"
Ohhh man I haven't seen this since I was 8 or so, using my big brother's SNES. I remember it as being spectacularly difficult, but I thought the bosses were so cool-looking I would consistently try to beat the levels to be able to see them in action. Yet this guy makes it look like a cakewalk.
Total masterpiece.
