Id imagine it's because he, Royce, has never been able to expand to the same capacity as Yelawolf has, in terms of audience out reach.
Royce has ALWAYS had a niche fan base. Even when working with Eminem and others like DJ Premier, his reach never went farther than usual. It's a hard pill to swallow, but some people just have material that is easier to relate to than others, or just catches the wave at the right moment.

I love listening to both artists! I’ve watched Yelawolf perform 3 times and never seen any signs of racism! He’s always told his audience to f all the racism ish! His openers have been; big Henri, Bray, Baddwolf, and a couple of black rappers (don’t remember their names) He’s had Jelly Roll, Struggle Jennings, and Mikey Mike also but they’re white.
