  • A look at the challenges of repairing historic roof structures and the techniques being used at Llwyn Celyn - our current restoration project in Wales.
Llwyn Celyn is regarded as one of the finest surviving medieval hall houses in Wales, but it has become increasingly dilapidated over the years. With support from our generous supporters, including the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Landmark Trust is currently restoring the main house into a Landmark for eight.

I like the decision to re-use the later steel roof trusses & corrugated sheeting. They are also part of the history. I have vintage bicycles & I use the same philosophy when "restoring" them.

A truly worthwhile video which serves as a great training resource for those with hands-on involvement on heritage buildings as well as for Landmarkers who will surely appreciate the property in a more informed manner if they are lucky enough to join the queue and pay to stay there... Thank you to all involved in this remarkable project and for sharing the challenges and experience!

This is a lovely looking video; I can't hear it, as I'm deaf. I'm disappointed there are no subtitles in English that I can access, though it is laudable that you have provided Welsh subtitles. Please consider all viewers in future.

      Dear Jon,
Yes unfortunately we were only able to put subtitles on the video itself in one language. One of the reasons we chose to put them in Welsh was that CZcams actually offers automated English subtitles on videos (which you can turn on by clicking the settings icon in the bottom right of the video screen), whereas they don't have this facility for Welsh subtitles as far as we're aware.
I'm afraid the automated English subtitles aren't always perfect, but they do seem to work well enough for the most part. Apologies that we couldn't offer our own English subtitles in this case, but we will certainly take your feedback on board when looking at subtitling future videos.
      Kind regards,
