Coockie 1173 I believe the devs of GE said somewhere. Even then, these animations look very natural and its not likely that someome could animate them by hand ever
When you realize the quantity of different animations and details for a 90' game... it's a fucking great job. I remember that we can also hear enemy coughing... This game deserves to be a legend.
I would say this is one of the major factors that didn't make the next Bond games as good. These animations despite being on low poly models are seriously impressive to this day. They have character and in big variety which helps a lot making the game not feeling repetitive.
@@Gameprojordan And let's not forget the soundtrack. Still considering all of this,it's weird how the next FPS games of the series didn't have the same the quality. Agent Under Fire and Nightfire are good but not awesome. Same for Goldeneye Wii which is more fun with a zapper. At least most third person shooters were great.
It's due largely in part to the inspiration they took from Virtua Cop. The effect the animation loops for attacking have, in particular, can't be overstated. Devs who tried to copy Goldeneye wondered why they could never nail the feel. This is basically the whole reason why. They underestimated the importance of making the enemies behave in varied ways, even if it is something as seemingly superficial as animation sequences.
Just to name a few 0:55 The scientist that dies intoxicated by the gas in Moonraker 1:20 A soviet soldier dies like this in the pre-title action sequence of Goldeneye (Bond shoots at him from cover) 1:22 A soviet soldier is shot by 006 after the window broke, also from the pre-title sequence of Goldeneye 2:12 Brosnan's gunbarrel walking and pose are replicated quite well 2:34 Charles Gray's time warp jump to the left(? 4:16 Moore's ''Precision'' stance from For Your Eyes Only 4:26 Connery's shooting stance (He does this quite a lot in his films, even in the game From Russia With Love features this shooting stance) 4:31 Ourumov's pose when executing a soldier in the pre-title sequence of Goldeneye There's a lot more, also I can tell that the game developer REALLY liked Roger Moore
You know what's crazy? During one of my playthroughs of the second level, I shot up a room full of scientists. I went about my rampage for a minute or two and came back to that same room, and noticed one of the scientists was still on the floor curled in the fetal position. I shot him more thinking it was faking or something, but it was locked in this death animation. It sat there another thirty seconds before finally fading because of death. I've never been able to do it again and I haven't seen anyone else have this same animation. I was hoping to see it here so I could have some kind of proof and nothing. I swear I've had this happen and the whole death animation must've lasted two minutes and I've never seen it again. It haunts me.
Some shit like that happened to me also… I’ll never forget it, it was like a laying down animation but the guy kept moving a little and it also happened to me on the second mission… dude I can’t believe you actually brought this up, I thought it was a fever dream💀💀..
That's not a glitch. The animation is just long. If you notice after he slumps over and lays there for a while one of his legs sort of shifts, ending the death animation. then fades away
Even call of duty took until World At War in 2008 to have an animation or two where an explosion causes a NPC to launch back from the blast. This game has like 6 seperate animations to show an enemy launching away from the blast of an explosion lol
It's so much worse in perfect dark because they got voice lines so you hear them gasping for breathe as they're dying from getting shot in the throat lol
@@dotCoockie Games are missing enemys that display agony and pain. its just like every enemy nowadays is a bullet sponge that ony falls over as a ragdoll after being defeated
No there are just alot of seperate animations that are similar but slightly different. For example there are like 3 different animations of the enemy grabbing onto his stomach and falling over
These anims are cool and all, but have you seen how long it takes for bad guys to aim their gun at you? By the time a dude has crouched down and raised his gun to take aim at you, you've already killed him, all of his friends in that room, finished all the objectives, and beaten the game. Still, I wouldn't want to know how this game would have turned out had they hand animated all of this. Just look at the hilarious animations in Half-Life 1.
Fun fact: These are motion captured
That's the first time I've heard that.

true
No offense but. Duh. Had crafting accurate precision movement like this would take years and yeara
@@JaneDoe-oz9id It wouldn't really take years since they're interpolated, but it's very tedious.

1:51 The original death drop!
6:48
Alec threatening flies with his gun. xD
The level of detail is amazing,
I recognise most poses from both James Bond actors and henchmen from the films.
Just to name a few
0:55 The scientist that dies intoxicated by the gas in Moonraker
1:20 A soviet soldier dies like this in the pre-title action sequence of Goldeneye (Bond shoots at him from cover)
1:22 A soviet soldier is shot by 006 after the window broke, also from the pre-title sequence of Goldeneye
2:12 Brosnan's gunbarrel walking and pose are replicated quite well
2:34 Charles Gray's time warp jump to the left(?
4:16 Moore's ''Precision'' stance from For Your Eyes Only
4:26 Connery's shooting stance (He does this quite a lot in his films, even in the game From Russia With Love features this shooting stance)
4:31 Ourumov's pose when executing a soldier in the pre-title sequence of Goldeneye

I always have said that in videogames animations are more important than high-res textures or polygons... this proves my point
The animations with the death sounds alone make this game “golden”
It’s cool to finally be able to watch these animations without having the constant danger of getting shot.

that was a final shot to the balls, he takes a really long time to die but he's in agony
1:16 was always my favorite.
1:38 I always unload 2 clips whenever I see that animation. Making me think I killed a Terminator.
2:05 Thats the intro animation
2:43 "Shot in the ass and you're to blame! You give guns. . . .a bad name!"

better animation than some games today
