      Reid Henrichs just bought your book. Cannot wait to read it.
      I have extensive experience in self defense training and firearms. I was a NRA certified instructor. (Not sure that means anything anymore) Have our own private range on the farm we call “the park” (it a shaded meadow). Fire thousands of rounds a year. Have worn a gun every day for 19 years about 14-16 hours a day. You get the point. You (meaning me) start to think there is not much to learn. Starting to get redundant, but I’m never disappointed with the things you have to say. I always learn from you. (No I have not yet been to one of your specific classes)
      I have a lot of respect for you. You are a very well rounded educator. You are what we need in this country. You and John Lovell from WPS are very similar. There is more to being a patriot and a Rifleman than just firearms. The brain is our greatest weapon. The gun is our most important tool.
      Sorry. Don’t mean to man crush. Just immense respect.

      I like your set up, however getting shot in the next war without a base camp medic at the ready to patch us up, well just like the 1st civil war, it wasn't the gun shot that killed the most, it was the infections from the wounds and amputations that did.
      So on my kit in a small pack I have a nasal tube, my torniques, a black sharpie, wound gauze, clotting material, chest wound closures, and disinfectant and protective dressings, it's about 2lbs.
      Expect the Left, now that it has received $220 million from GS to fund all BLM/Antifa type groups, I fully expect a major riot, or similar to be tried late Oct 2020, right before the election.
      We have news that Custom's and DHS have intercepted mass quantity's of parts that turn normal semi auto ar/ak rifle into selective fire rifles. As well as weapon caches that have been found. With the evidence pointing back towards the CCP.
      That said, I will most likely use my plates while driving to my destination, once there, leave the plates and scurry off with my kit, let's face it getting shot with a 270,308, size round is basically a death blow, esp. if there are no field stations to patch you up.
      I dunno about you but my pack weighs enough without the added weight of plates, yes the plates are great for defensive operations. Not so much if you have to walk, hike or climb with them and the entire kit at once.
      God Bless America

    When I was active duty we were advised to keep the front as slim as you could manage, but we just had so much crap and it honestly never occurred to us and I never saw anyone put their mags on the side. Our side plates were really bulky as it was. Love this idea! Similar movement as going for a weak side pistol reload too.

    Being a vet myself and having guys who have taken hits in their side plates and have had spalling from rounds and being shot in the forearm when you now have lost the only hand that can reach the mags you have a problem. Keep them center so both hands can manipulate. You can have side mags but always keep a few on the front and you can single stack them or get a kangaroo pouch mag insert if that's your thing. Get esstac, or hsgi. Also always test your gear. You will move your gear around 10 times before you figure out how you want your kit as well as everytime you add something new you might have to switch everything around again. But to each their own and you will always have to do what works best for you.

    • @Donnydarco100

      I agree. Everybody runs mags in the front, so the fact that he didnt have any confused me even though he gave an explanation for it. On a side note, I also have the crye jpc 2.0 and run hsgi taco pouches on the front and going prone isnt a problem as it isnt as bulky as he thinks it is. Nevertheless to each their own.

    FINALLY! I got alot of crap from folks that have never taken fire for NOT running my mags on the from of my carrier. YOU NAILED IT! When you're trying to get low, those mags that look so cool on front of your carrier are going to prevent you from getting as low as possible. To each his own, but it's nice to know that we're on the same page! Good stuff!

    You throw on an old school H harness over that with mag pouches, canteens, and a buttpack, poncho. Unclip the front for prone. As threat escalates you add a fighting harness. I use Blueforcegear mag pouches on front of mine, they lay super flat when not needed

    I don't keep ammo on the front. Once I was hit and my loaded magazine started to smoking and scared the Hell out of me because I thought it's about to explode. Finally, it did not. However, I wouldn't risk it twice! As I live in Scotland now I can't conceal carry anything but my trauma kit is my belt. It was on my belt when I was deployed (private sector) and I had my sidearm in a thigh holster. Opposite as your set up. But I like yours too! Keep up the good job!

  • @Just_Chuck_It
    @Just_Chuck_It Před 4 lety

    Slick front is definitely the way to go. Aside from allowing you to get a low as possible when prone, it also aids in weapon presentation, manipulation, and normal administration related tasks. It also aids in driving, mounting and dismounting a vehicle, as well as hand to hand combatives. Running slick front also makes it easy to throw on a cover garment and reduce your overall signature.
    I will always run slick front and back. I run AR 5 magazines (3 on carrier, 2 on belt).

    AKA Goldenrod, I'm glad to see someone else validating the slick plate carrier setup. I've been preaching to many of my fellow patriots "if you need six magazines you need combat resupply". If your defending your home or your neighborhood it would be better to have hardened defensible points where you can stage gear and dominate the surrounding terrain. Plus if you're being shot at you will never feel like you can make yourself small enough. Lol

      I use front because my off hand has shoulder range of motion issues, I also have a battle belt and the mag holders are on side I can pull those ok, if shift happens then I’ll probably pull the one off front of plate carrier, but for now it’s a grab and go set up.

    • @BretAllen1
      @BretAllen1 Před 4 lety +1

      All depends on what you’re doing. If you’re doing convoy work, short patrols or assaulting a building, lvl 4 plates and front mag pouches aren’t really an issue. Long distance recon, lightweight or no body armor at all might be better. Consider your mission and gear appropriately. Maybe more ammo would be a good thing if you don’t have access to QRF’s & the ability to call in airstrikes. Rarely mentioned gear in the civilian world are things like smoke grenades for exfil in urban or suburban combat situations.

      Its usually dudes doing what they're used to. The guys you see making videos usually weren't regular army or marines they were rangers/seals/maraoc dudes. They had a lot of leeway and access to better/lighter gear than the regular guys had. A lot of units required certain placement of certain items on your person. I've seen IFAK kits 3 rows of MOLLE wide and nearly 6 inches thick required to be placed on the front left most part of your plate carrier. So everyone knew exactly where it was and had fast access to it. Didn't matter if you were a 5'4 female or a 6'4 guy who shot left handed. It was required and it was strictly enforced. No open top mag pouches, they HAD to be the issued double stack velcro tops. With 2 mags in them each. They required where those went. Some units were more lenient than others however a lot of dudes humped the mountains of Afghanistan for 10 months in a retarded amount of weight and gear that didn't work for anybody. Thats all they know.

    The reason why the mags are in the front is largely due to the War on Terror's shift from conventional enemies to more unconventional enemies. The idea is that you are not going prone as much and you are entering and clearing buildings a lot more.

    • @hunterkiller232134
      @hunterkiller232134 Před 2 lety +6

      Going mags in front grew from the mechanization of armies. Traditional webbing was good for long marches or patrols but not comfortable in vehicles. Additionally belt systems cause greater fatigue than carrying loads on the chest when crossing uneven terrain. The Chinese first fielded what we know as traditional chest rigs in the late '50s and 1960s. The concept of carrying your fighting load on the chest instead of the hips became so popular that the Russians and the Rhodesians copied it for their respective forces. The US was actually late to adopting similar gear and our first entries into the concept were really poor. It wasn't until the highly-mechanized nature of the occupation in Iraq that US forces began adopting chest rigs and plate carriers that mounted equipment up on the chest.

      You mean urban vs field based combat? Unconventional has zero to do with the area of operations LOL

    • @crwilliams4597
      @crwilliams4597 Před rokem

      @Graham Masi Unconventional has a great deal to do with it. When the enemy doesn't fight you like a traditional enemy and it blends in with the civilian population, the rules change.

    • @crwilliams4597
      @crwilliams4597 Před rokem

      @Graham Masi Let me clarify, if your enemy is a conventional enemy who is playing by conventional rules, it is much easier to level the building with an enemy infantry squad hiding inside than it is to breach and clear.

    • @TerryWhisk
      @TerryWhisk Před rokem

      @@crwilliams4597 Unconventional does not immediately equal urban. I understand what you’re saying but the wires are getting crossed and equating tactics with battle-space. Vietnam was an unconventional war and only a small amount of it was fought in urban AOs.

    Not a good setup "for me" but it is different than what I normally see.
    I personally don't like any hard gear on my sides. If I have to carry anything heavy or need to bend sideways it digs into my side and limits mobility.
    I don't have an issue with a single layer of mags on the front.

      That is a ridiculous misconception. That’s like saying we wear PCs just to hold our ammo. 👎🏼

    • @WestinsChannel
      @WestinsChannel Před 4 lety +3

      Generally, for civilians, a armored helmet is more or less pointless. Helmets are intended to protect you from blunt force trauma, flying debris, shrapnel, and not much else...

      That is the thought process of someone who just wants to look cool in a PC but never actually plans on getting a gunfight or participating in a kinetic environment.
      People who actually get into gunfights wear ballistic helmets for a reason. You have a much higher chance of getting a head injury (from various, unpredictable sources) than actually being shot in the chest. So your logic does not pass.

    • @cjr4286
      @cjr4286 Před 4 lety +5

      I'd say keep it as light as possible. Rifle, ammo, first aid, water, then not much else (maybe a radio or toolkit). A helmet can be used for protection, yes, but I think it's overkill for community patrolling unless you need it for night vision. There's a reason that Boonie hats became a thing!

    • @charliefoxtrot5001

      Could be the radio pouch, but could also be just another mag pouch mounted on the inside of the cumber bund.

      He is a you tube creator. These videos are his product. Sharing, liking and taking his course(s) are far more valuable than a patreon account. Reid is number one in my book, but he needs to step up his product. Plain and simple, not hate- just a helping comment from a consumer. New mic and hopefully problem solved
