That was probably the best, detailed video on steam bending I’ve ever seen. It would be well worth your time to set up a steam bender similar to yours if you needed to bend maybe more than 10 pieces of wood or so, or if you thought you’d bend approximately the same size wood several times in the future. However, if you only need to bend a piece for a project, all you really need to do is build a quick rectangular box, plug up one end and put a door or plug on the other, similar to yours, but not with the dowels to hold up a shelf, or temperature gages. A steam generator is sweet, but you can essentially use anything to generate steam. I’ve seen guys drape a thick cloth over the open end of the box and place boiling water under the cloth. Not the best method, and you have to continually turn the wood while steaming, but if you have nothing available, it works. I have a small portable steam cleaner that I place in a hole that works great, although I have to push the steam trigger often throughout the process, but I just work on the project and push the trigger
Thanks for the video, hope to try this myself very soon! Not to be a troll, but just a note for noob woodworkers: one should not wear gloves while using power machinery, all it takes is a small touch and your whole hand can be pulled into a moving blade.
It's probably more practical to do two half circles. All it adds is one more connection as opposed to trying to get the exact circumference after it expands with one connection.

You would prob need to make it an inward spiral judging by how the wood relaxed at the end after removing the forme. Probably possible!

You would overlap the ends on the mold and then after the wood is set make a taper on both ends and glue them up.
