- Welcome to Frost Giant Studios. Many of us worked on some pretty popular RTS games in the past and now we're working on our dream project -- Stormgate.
In this video, you'll meet some of the team and check out a few things we've been cooking up as we work on creating a new Blizzard-style real-time strategy game.
This includes a new Infernal Host unit -- the Spriggan -- as well as how we're planning to use MVVM (Model-View-ViewModel) to deliver data to players thanks to the power of Unreal Engine 5.

@@Tobigames1 it can be done well ! War chest for StarCraft 2 was a prime example, and it wasnt even directly for blizzard !

@@tezereth that is a F2P game, you have to expect a monetisation via microtransaction. It can be good or awfully predatory, season pass can do both
The marketing will take care of itself if you keep drip-feeding the community updates and generating hype through great gameplay and visuals! Very excited, keep it up!
So if they don't have a marketing team, who's making all these videos? This is a Paradox-style marketing where they're making the player base involved in the development and root for the company.
This might come as a shock to you but community updates are marketing.
Whilst I’m honoured my humble comment upset you enough to feel the need to correct me… twice…. I’m merely suggesting that a company focused on producing a good quality game and less about shameless self-promotion is to be applauded. A good quality game will naturally permeate through the marketplace.
@@andreicristian9575 Hi, Gerald here: This video only exists because of the support of one of our community members, Chris Culp, who volunteered his time to visit the studio and edit the piece. AAA games cost about 100 million to make today, and we're trying to make a AAA-quality RTS for 35M. We can't afford to do everything, so we're pouring every ounce of our funding into making the best possible game. Crossing our fingers that it works!
I'm one of very few people on the team who isn't directly involved in making the game, and I handle our PR and community. We don't employ a full-time marketing person, but it's fair to say that PR and Community is all related to marketing. Thanks for watching!

I can say this as a video game developer and someone from 80s generation...
Coming from an old school rts/warcraft fanatic: You can clearly see the passion and talent. This is what a lot of us want: an old school RTS made with exceptional talent and love for the genre. Every video, every update this gets reafirmed. Can't wait for the release and I'm sure you have the old blizzard mindset (they used to have) in mind: it's done when it's done.
I don't mind oldschool if they actually evolve it, so staying within the confines of those designs whilst modernising the implementation.
@@kaibe5241I agree, and I'm sure the Frost giant devs agree with this sentiment as well. They want to modernize it by making it a more social experience. But the good ol' 1v1 ladder will still be there for those of us unwilling to conform
@@kaibe5241 Yeah I agree honestIY I'm worried so far it Iooks Iike mix of Starcraft 2 and warcraft 3 with the creeping, I reaIIy hope they evoIve on it, if they dot i think it wiII die quick, but so far it Iooks promising they are putting so much Iove and passion into it i reaiIy gope it does weII
It's looking better and better every update. I've been wanting to play a new RTS for ages now, I hope this one ends up being great.

The new daemon style (4:35, and other) is way better than the original one (0:04, which frustrated me). All new characters demonstrated throughout this video are way way better than other ones you have demonstrated before! Stick this direction!

I hope the MVVM patter is also beeing used to come up with a very cool yet clean looking spectator mode UI for supporting esports and casters on the net. So far everything I hear in terms of game architecture and the technology used sounds impeccable. I am happy to see their S-Tier decision making so far.
Depending on whether they want to allow it, MVVM would enable them to make a very customizable spectator UI.

Best marketing is just having a great game. These people get it.
As someone who grew up playing WC3 and starcraft I'm hoping that this lives up to expectations. the RTS genre really could use something to shake it up and if anyone can do it it's these guys. Hoping to see multiple factions, hero units, campaigns and more. When they have a definite date on release or open beta I'll probably get the battle chest

I can't wait for this game, the RTS genre has been my favorite since I was a kid and seeing how dead it's been as of late makes me sad; definitely buying and playing as soon as it comes out! :)

i am really excited. although i am also a competitive player, i hope the campaign will be really awesome too. LotV campaign was really great, imagine if we get to play something of that quality again

Glad you guys just focus on the game and have a good FAQ instead of false marketing and promises like so many studios, instead you just tell us your ideas and let the game speak for itself
Would love to have another glorious era like Warcraft 3 with amazing custom maps in all sorts of fantastic unique games be that RPGs or grand strategy PVP or PVE or anything inbetween >and all those racist funny bread maps<
Would also be cool though if your base-game/campaign would have the same quality as Starcrafts or so :)
