Finally you visited Sarawak and came to my hometown, Bau 👏👏. Thank you for highlighting Tasik Biru, Fairy Caves and Bung Jagoi. My kampung is not very far from the cave. Happy to note that you did a research on the town as well as lake and the cave. Thank you! 👏👏Siniawan is another gem .. and it is really impossible to find parking there over the weekends. I pray the management will open up more parking spaces. Another problem is finding an empty table once you have secured a parking space. 😫😫 I must say your content is awesome. Well done and a Big Thank you to you! 🙋♀️👍🏼🧡
Thank you for having me! I love documenting my trip there! Glad you liked it! Stay tune for Tawau next week.

You are so lucky to be born in BaUUU!
@@CKology Before the Covid19 Pandemic, Bau got the Border/bargain Market located at Kampung Serikin. Where it is the border between kalimantan indonesia and malaysia. The distance from the Bau town is only 25km. There are various goodies/foods sale and famously for bargaining the items. It's a pity because it's closed due to pandemic. Hopefully both goverments can give green light to reopen it soon😊😊😊
Yep heard of that, I asked around, still not yet operating, I HAVE 2 COME BACK! LOL

Thank you for your kind word , let the adventure begin 🎒

💖
Might I just add a little friendly comment as a local Sarawakian. Bau is actually pronounced in 2 separate syllables. Ba-U. Not how usually the Malay language pronounced the word "bau" which means smell. Thanks for promoting the lesser known towns of Sarawak by the way. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the note, certainly will take note! Nobody mentioned the name while I was there, so I improvised! LOL
@Bella Delphino I was struggling a bit to write the pronunciation properly. But, yeah. What u said.
Like bau wangi bau busuk
Thank u!
Wooow..its my beautiful hometown
Very beautiful indeed! Lucky you!

🛵Oh I shall return 🛵
Thanks for sharing this wonderful video of Bau. Doggies of Bung Jagoi are very friendly and they are the local guides. They will wait for you and even come to you if you are taking longer to climb up the hills. One of my best hiking experience!
I wish I brought food for the doggies! They are the guardian!
@@CKology Yes! Exactly my thought too after my hike there. Since then I always keep some dog kibble and dry cat food in my car. Never know when will need them 😂😂 ...never know when will meet such truly nice local guides again!
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻 stay tune for more great video
Should not miss to visit Mount Singai. Wonderful place too
oh i will remember that next round
Fairy cave so beautiful now.
Totally revamped 🤵♂️
This is a great video to showcase some of the places in Bau. With that said, since you featured Bikalan, on your next visit do give the "Dynamite Sticks" a go. 🙈

Going there coming February
Enjoy
TQ for introducing BaU to us. Must make it a destination to visit. Forget visiting other ctries. We shd explore our own backyard. I'm so guilty....
Thanks for watching! More exciting destinations coming up and they are all in our backyard 🚜
Love the cozy and intimate district, Ck! Those food options looks so delicious, more meaningful that it is cooked by the locals :) do you exit the cave on the same dark path or there’s another way out? Hehehe 😃😃😃 Cheers to another great feature with storytime 😃👍🏻😃👍🏻⭐️
Yep, same exit, it was a beautiful cave
3:42 You are lucky Fairy Cave has all that nice stairs. The last I visited was in the mid 80s and we'd be lucky if we come out without having guano on us. 😄
13:58 It amused me to see the local Iban language being used (Sarikei (a town near Sibu) Jakar (Jakar is like an R&R stop by the roadside... can't even call it a town and it's near Sarikei)). "Bisi dijual ditu" - [the shumai] is sold here.
Thanks for watching and your comment
Thank u for visiting Sarawak, and thank u for visiting Bau, my kampung. Next time when you're in Bau, don't order kolo mee, coz you can find kolo mee all over Kuching, u try to order mee sup, that's the local favourite. Especially when u eat at the same kopitiam at siniawan.
Oh I WILL remember that! Thanks so much for watching!
@@CKology thank u for vlogging about Bau.
I must shout this paradise to the world!
@@CKology i suggest u to try Tuak/Rice wine before return to your hometown. Drink that with anything BBQ is the best weekend supper.
I did
My hometown 😍😍😍
I love BAuuuuu
Next please come to our old kampung Semban further inside from Bau.
But you need to hike and use boat a few hours and I believe you will love the view and the environment 😍🌈
Omg I totally will do that 🌴
Great video! wanted to visit this place for so long..but i wonder where to stay in here?
I did home stay 🚗
I missed my Kampong Siniawan Old Town n the coffee shop seems to be familiar 🤗🤗🤔🤔....
You are so lucky 🍀 to b born there
@@CKology TQ....my late Dad is from the shop lot n my mum's side is from the village opposite Siniawan river 🤗👍
Nice! I love Bau and Siniawan so much!
Now I know why it is called "Fairy Cave" Thanks!
Go visit! It's a hidden gem!
Your channel is long needed.
Awww 🌈🌷🌷

Glad it brings back memories
Awwww thank you for yr Bau Travel tips. I was about to ask hey..could you take us around then you said lastly you are from the west. Is there any tours to book from Kuching to Bau? I am very interested to visit next year. Any imfors are most welcome. Thank you in advance . And how do i book a nite stay at the homestay mentioned here. And i would a few recomendations on what or where to visit in kuching. I have only 3 days thou.
You don't need a tour guide, all you need is to rent a car and watch my video! You can do Bau in one one day! The homestay place has a Fb, I contacted them through there.
This is the first video of yours that I watch. You are so much fun! and I like that you show the hidden gems of Malaysia, which I find to be more fulfilling than the typical tourist places... Anyway now I'm in a bind... Travel to Sarawak or to Kelantan first?
Both states weather pattern are very similar, they are both gorgeous in June and July! It's a dilemma I know! I have been there!
@@CKology 😀 we will toss a coin, see which one we go for first 😅 thanks! I'll keep watching your fun videos. 🙏
I will probably end up shooting in both places, I heard Kuching food festival is happening this July! OMG
@@CKology truly deserves an OMG 😀 🙏
LOL
“Headhunting….not the HR TYPE” HAHAHAHAHAH OMG YOU ARE SO FUNNY DUDE
You would b surprise many young people do NOT believe there were HEAD hunters.
Hello from CA. Bagus video! Were u eating steaming yam cake? Love the dogs guiding you!
I ate too much! Thanks for watching
Sebelum COVID..tempat ini penuh dengan pengunjung ...
True 🌈
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
TQ!
Many folklore has about the same reason for being turned into "a tragedy site" regarding making fun of animals. The formation of Tasek Buyut in Kota Marudu, Sabah was also believed to emerge during a harvest festival celebration, where they dressup dogs and making fun of them. Hence they were cursed and being swallowed into the ground and a lake emerge at the site. That was what I heard from the community.
I've been to Kuching every year during my work days but too bad did not visit Bau then. Heard about the town but not the underlying stories about it besides the present of Tasek Biru.
Great stories! Many thanks! More Sabah video coming.
This is my hometown. Years ago, there wasn't any proper stairs up to fairy cave. Basically u need to climb some vertical ladders & the walls were made into muddy rocky stairs.
People use to go up there & hang out & sometime pray to the stalactites to ask for lottery number. There's a few special corner in the caves only old visitors knows about.
As for the legends, there were two children. A girl & a boy from a poor family. The 'rumah panjang or baruk' belongs to a rich family who despise the poor family who happen to have no father. So he & the whole village ousted the mother from the village. During the Gawai festival the children visits the village hoping to get some food. Like the story, the headman gave the food but it was 'liliek'; which means leftovers & spits. They laughed when the innocent children accepted the food.
When the mother saw the food, she became so angry & told the children to bring the dressed up cat.
You see, long time ago, in our culture, animals are not pets. Cats are used to hunt pest. Dogs to hunt. They have their own spirits. Therefore you cannot mock or laugh at them. If you do, you're mocking their guardian spirit / god.
The cat was the late husband 'companion' & used to protect his family. So the mother ask the cat to dance for the villagers.
Once the cat dance in costume, the villagers started to laugh & angered the guardian spirit who turn them all to stone.
That's why no animals allowed in the caves & you're never to visit the caves during Gawai. Bcoz the legend say during Gawai, the village comes alive & will take you to join them forever. Children were also not allowed coz well, it was said the villagers were sorry, so they wants to 'take care' of children instead of being mean.
Nowadays many not bothered with the legends anymore. But few years when I went there alone during Gawai, I practically gave my relatives heart attack & they thought I got swallowed by the 'villagers' 😂
There's also stories & lore about the underground village under the cave & the tale of the 'tall people' (aka Bigfoot). But I've written too long already. 😂
Gosh thanks for this story 👍🏻
Is it very hot & humid like singapore ? Stayed one night in singapore years ago, the humidity !!!!!
It’s the tropic 🦎
