Kia Telluride Death Valley Road Trip

Adding to the library of videos about the 2020 Kia Telluride, but adding a few details about our experience with a 1,200 mile road trip to Death Valley. Details about what we did with the wheels and the temporary rack system. Definitely check out the Primal Outdoors channel for excellent, long-form videos about using the Kia Telluride for overland travel.
The rack system is a temporary solution with the OEM Kia crossbars and a Yakima MegaWarrior basket. The full-size spare is only mounted when we're doing extended off-highway driving, like our annual trip to Death Valley. We will probably move over to a lower-profile Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform once they have a Telluride-specific solution, which I am told (by Rhino) is coming sometime in spring 2020.
For the record, the stock 20" alloy wheels and Michelin tires that come with the Telluride EX Premium package weigh 66 pounds mounted. The 18" Method MR502 + Continental Terrain Contact A/T that we swapped in are exactly the same weight.

My wife and i have the 18 outback and need a bigger vehicle for the growing familly. Took a 2021 telluride out and wow we were thoroughly impressed with it. We are considering buying one with all the features you get in the kia there is no comparison on the market.

Have an SX in Dark Moss. Will be dropping down to the 18's as well. Have been considering the Continentals. How are you liking that combination?

It's been a good combination so far. I was a little concerned about road noise when we moved to an A/T tire, but it hasn't been an issue for us. Still very happy with our choice.
