Crescent Falls and Abraham Lake || Exploring in Nordegg, Alberta

- The Nordegg region in Alberta, Canada is a highly underrated area, despite it having so much to see and do! If you want to get away from the touristy crowds of Banff and Jasper, then head out to Nordegg, which is still nestled in the magnificent foothills of the Rocky Mountains with incredible views. In this video, we will look specifically at Crescent Falls in the Nordegg area.
Join Marti from "Down the Wrabbit Hole" as she and her intrepid kiddos explore the upper Crescent Falls, then descend down some slippery cliffs to see the sights from the lower bowl. Afterwards, enjoy a beautiful picnic at the shores of spectacular Abraham Lake.

Please note that the climb down to the lower bowl of the falls is on the steep side, with slippery shale rocks, and is not technically considered a trail. As well, there are no safety rails in the lower bowl and I beg anyone who visits to stay well away from the edge. Visiting the lower bowl is a "do so at your own risk" so know your own limitations and be smart. Alberta Parks and this channel are not responsible for accidents resulting from visits to the lower bowl.
Wow! Crescent Falls looks amazing! 😀👍
They were gorgeous. I consider myself very lucky to live here in Alberta. :)
Water is the master traveler, makes his own path, creates heavenly surroundings, transforms into clouds in order to see the world from above..moves far and wide..
And Marti is an ardent follower of the Master.
Your kids are equally amazing .
Eye catching shots...
👍👍
You will definitely find me where the water is. I love waterfalls, lakes, rivers, and oceans. I hope to raise my kids to have the same appreciation for nature that I do. Thanks so much for the beautiful words! :)
Waterfalls, lakes, mountains ❤ but the wild horses get me everytime! Beautiful! Not to mention a beautiful family making memories together! Love it.
We seem to catch sight of the wild horses every time we head that way. I love them too! :) My long-term plan is to get my kids hooked on travel and adventuring, and then convince them I'm the best travel partner to have, and then they'll take me on all their trips when they get older. That's the plan, anyway. LOL
@@DowntheWrabbitHole I love it!
Super 👍🏻Exploring in Nordegg, Alberta🌈
Thanks so much for watching! :)
Well Done Wrabbit 💖
Agree!
Why thank you sir!!! :)
Wow the road trip scenery is amazing and the wild horses
I love those wild horses! We see them EVERY time we go out that way! :)
Wow so deep
The waterfall or just my video in general? ;)
We literally cannot get enough of Alberta....we keep discussing picking up and moving out there, the scenery and the Canadian Rockies are just so stunning. Thanks for taking us along!
Ooh, if you guys came to live here that would be awesome! Come live near me so I have like-minded people to hang out with and explore with! :)
It looks totally qorth the view. Just Beautiful.
It really was! I'd like to go back with my husband now. :)
Holy moly that's a deep hole
Quite the drop-off, right? Glad they have safety rails up top. :)
Awesome views!
I love waterfalls! :) I'm happy you enjoyed Crescent Falls along with me!
Looks Beautiful
Zoom Zoom
It definitely is! (But then again, most waterfalls are. There's just something about them!)
Wow i want to see wild horses like that. At 2:26 that lookout is spectacular. Wow you guys went down there in the lower falls. Amazing, like D#46
The whole Nordegg area is really quite beautiful, but those falls were something else! Thanks for watching! :)
Well worth the drive to see the falls
Hey you 😲
I agree! Even the drive out was pretty and relaxing - the whole day was quite enjoyable. ;)
Waaaaaaaah, beautiful..the scenery so amazing
I was surprised at how beautiful this place was, yet I'd only recently heard about it. Such a great place to visit. :)
This is a beautiful waterfall and I like how there's a second one that you can see up close when you get lower. You are good mom to take your kids along with you on these adventures.
Those kids needed a little adventure! We've been pent up in the house for far too long! :)
LOL! Your littles looked like they enjoyed going uphill more than downhill. That looked pretty steep! I agree - Abraham Lake is a gorgeous color. I need to get up there someday in the winter and take photos of those bubbles. Thanks for taking us on your adventure!
They actually really enjoyed the downhill part, because we mostly just slid on our butts. They were filthy dirty after, but they had fun! LOL
@@DowntheWrabbitHole - getting grimy is the best part of being a kid. LOL!
Beautiful scenery! Neat to see the lake in the summer after watching your video of it in the winter.
I love the colour of Abraham Lake in the summer! It's hard to describe in words. :)
What a wonderful place!🤩🤩
It truly is! Thanks so much for watching! :)
The Crescent Falls and Abraham Lake are really spectacular! Wonderful footage and landscape! Great work! Loved watching! Mary 💛♡ 💛♡ 💛♡
Thank you so much for those kind words. With travel restrictions in place to other countries, I'm having fun exploring my own part of the world, and it is making me grateful to live here! (Well, I was already grateful, but now even more so!)
Awesome place 🤩👍🏻🌸🌺🌸🌸🌺
It was really beautiful - I'm glad we decided to do our day trip! :) Thanks for watching.
Beautiful falls and the lake
That whole area is just stunning - I'm glad you enjoyed the sights! :)
Marti! Yay road trip.. That s a long way down. That is so peaseful to me! That lake is so beautiful I would probably cry if I was there. Great upload Marti. Berto😎❤️😎❤️
You'd love the Nordegg area, Berto. Every stop is something wonderful I hope you get the chance to visit Alberta one day! :)
Oh I love horses 😍
Me too! They are so pretty! :)
That was a good video the fart bubbles Frozen under the ice
Ha ha. It was a cool phenomenon!
Whoa impressive sights.. I feel like I'm going to fall down when looking down.. gorgeous waterfalls!
I get a little vertigo too. When my kids go right up to the safety rails, my heart goes into my throat. I know they will be safe but I still get a little freaked out. LOL
very nice and relaxing falls
They truly are. I'm so happy we took the time to drive out there. :)
That drop off by the trail looked steep. I’d probably be scooting down the hill like the kiddos. Heehee! Such beautiful scenery!!
It wasn't the steepness so much, but there were loose, flat, slate-type rocks that made it tricky. We felt it was easier to avoid those sneaky rocks by scooting on our bums. LOL
amazing exploration and so interesting to watch thanks for sharing friend
Thank you so much for watching - I'm happy you enjoyed the video! :)
the place is so fantastic.
I definitely agree! We will have to go back soon and take my husband next time. :)
Wow its amazing very beautiful waterfalls i like it thank you and godbless
These might be my new favourite waterfalls here in Alberta. ;)
That's pretty cool. It's like a mini Grand Canyon at first look. Not the easiest trip to the bottom but well worth the effort. Great view of the falls from down there.
The view from the lower bowl was actually my favourite, so I'm glad we were able to get down there without too much trouble! ;)
Very beautiful area
There are lots of people who ATV in this region - you guys would love it! :)
superb waterfalls and views pleased you all got out and had a great day out, and wow the youngsters are fearless and brave on the descent to see the falls great watch nigel
I was really proud of how adventurous they were! They are going to make fantastic travel companions as they get older too! :)
Great job with making this video. Thank you for sharing it with us to enjoy.
I took my drone with me that day, it would have been incredible footage (would love to see what you'd do in an area like this) but I don't exactly have my Canadian drone license yet and I was too scared to get into trouble, so no drone footage for me that day.
Beautiful waterfall, the view from below is stunning 🤗
That was my favourite part too! :)
LIKE No 9.!..HELLO MARTI GREAT VIDEO PRESENTATION! ..IT'S NICE TO SEE YOU GUYS HAVING FUN IN ALBERTA !!...HOPE YOU HAVE A FAB WEEK AHEAD AND STAY SAFE !!!....ALL THE BEST FROM ME IN THE U.K. ✌Regards Caen 😎 x
I'm so happy that we are able to finally get out and go exploring again. I don't know when we'll be able to rebook our cancelled trips and use our flight credits, but until then, it's road trip time! :) Hope you are well!

definitely agree with your description..love your work!
Thank you so much! I'm happy you enjoyed this video! :)
This was nice 😊 Good you were able to get both views of the waterfall! And wow, the Abraham Lake looked so beautiful also now in the summer 😍
I'm happy we went down to the lower bowl of the falls. The trail wasn't that bad, if a 5-year-old and a 6-year-old can navigate it. :)
nice up loud thanks for sharing 16
Thanks so much for watching! :)
What an amazing place you guys visited.. My kind of outing, so much better than shopping lol.. Hope you are staying safe.. Full View and Like always..
It felt so good to be back out on an adventure! And such a spectacular area too! :) Thanks so much for watching!

@@DowntheWrabbitHole Thanx Wrabbit 😊
pretty nice
It is gorgeous! I love the double waterfall. Just be very careful there, that pool in between the falls is definitely not meant for swimming.
view at 2:23 was awesome! great place for a lookout, it seems! WOW the waterfalls are fantastic but the best thing is that icdy blue color is aMAZing!!! I wonder why it's only that color in the summer.
The lake has that weird colour because of what they call "glacial rock flour", ground up minerals and sediment that comes from glacial run-off when glaciers melt into the river in warmer weather. In the winter, that sediment settles to the bottom and the lake gets really clear - you can see all the way to the bottom. But in the summer, the lake is murky with that sediment and it gives it that beautiful colour. :)
I bet it felt good to get out of the house and burn off some pent up frustration. So beautiful up there, some day.😀🧝♂️
Elf 👋
Definitely! I'm thinking we will be doing lots of mountain road trips this summer. :)
Damn, I wish I’d went there last week now, we see only around the corner too. Great video.
Hopefully you get the chance to go back! :) These falls are definitely worth it.
The waterfalls look beautiful. I like the view from the lower path. It looks like it was a bit steep though
The lower bowl view was definitely the better one, but if the path down makes anyone uncomfortable, the views from up top are quite amazing as well. :)
WOW! Beautiful falls! Too steep a hill for me to do though!😉
Even if you don't feel comfortable going down the hill to the lower bowl, there's tons of incredible views from the upper level, from the safety of metal railings. :) It's still definitely worth the trip out!
Hey wassup wow nice waterfall and nice hiking 😀 I haven't hiked in forever 😀 nice trip and hope ur doing alright
I bet you have tons of gorgeous hiking trails where you live! You should share a few - I'd love to see! :)
I wish I could go there
Hopefully one day you can! :)
Bom dia, passando para conhecer o seu trabalho,já deixando o meu apoio✍️🔔🤝👍👍
Thank you so much for watching! :)
The waterfall is amazing.. Alberta is so beuatiful overall
Senja 💖
I feel very lucky to live here! :)
What an exciting day out, Abraham Lake looks so pristine and Crescent Falls seemed almost magical, great footage!
How can you not love a double waterfall, right? ;) It's so pretty!
Hay quá
Hello and thanks so much for watching! :)
hello my new friend
i like your channel so much
and you!
Aw, thank you so much! It is wonderful to meet you - welcome to my channel, new friend! I look forward to connecting with you more! :)
Love the Falls
Double the waterfalls, double the fun! :)
Love the whole 'double waterfall' aspect of this place. Alberta is so pretty!
Agreed! Thanks so much for watching!
That looks really dangerous
The hill? Or just standing on the lower bowl in general? We stayed well away from the edge, but I did see people sitting with their legs over the edge of that one rock, right over the falls. So dangerous.
I already know this video is going to be great! BIG LIKE and Full Watch Incoming🔥🖤stay connected🔔❤️
They were such beautiful waterfalls. I was excited to share them with you guys! :)
I don't know why, but this video just reminded me that I need to do my dang laundry. lol. Such a sparkle-tastic trip with your family. You're always taking us on great travels. Sparkle on!
Ha ha - could it possibly be my filthy, dirt-covered children? LOL I take dirty clothes as a sign of a fulfilling day! ;)
Very good lake
I love the colour of Abraham Lake in the summer! I have a winter video on the lake as well where I show you how it traps bubbles inside the ice - it's a really cool natural phenomenon! :)
Thank you so much for this video your family looked like they had a great time :) I'm taking my 78 year olt the David Thompson resort . Crescent Falls Looks perfect she'll be able to go right to the lookout from the parking lot I'm thrilled Do you think Abraham lake is easy 2 access and enjoy for a lunch we don't wanna hike and not walk very far very far thank you so much.
Crescent Falls is very easy to access, especially if you can find parking in the lower area. There is overflow parking a bit up the road away from the falls, which then makes for a bit of a hike down the road, so I suggest you go a little earlier. Abraham Lake has many different viewing spots, some that have a bit of a hike to them as well. But none of them are that strenuous, so if your hiking partner is in fairly good physical condition they should be okay.
There aren't much people there. Just nice fresh air. Good time to travel. What a climb and a beautiful view!
Something quite incredible about a double waterfall. These falls are just stunning! :) Thanks for watching!
Was a great job friend. What a great nature. Excellent views. Holy c* amazing. Keep it up. Enjoy your day. Greetings UnspecGamer 😀👍.
These falls were unreal - I can't believe I hadn't heard of them before but now they are my new favourite waterfalls here in Alberta. Thanks so much for watching. :)
Que lugar maravilhoso 👍👍

The place is beautiful full nature.,Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year .
It really is lovely, I think these are my new favourite falls in Alberta!
This Summer view of this place looks really unimaginable, this place blew me away. I wish I can come to this kind of place. We have big river here, the Ohio and Kentucky, but not as beautiful as this.. anyways, lots of activities in this place to do and the waterfalls that’s for sure, your kids enjoyed watching. They are very lucky to have a big traveler mom
I'm sure there's tons of beautiful places like this in your region - you just have to get out and explore! ;) I didn't even know these falls existed until this summer, and I've lived here all my life! LOL
WoW, Interesting AND unique video 👍LIKE#72
I'm so happy that you enjoyed it! These are my new favourite waterfalls! :)
I missed this one somehow. I am glad to see you guys out and about again. I have been going to remote places with little people around. Great camera quality.
It felt good to get out exploring again, that's for sure! I'll bet you felt the same. Thanks so much for watching! :)

Nature is amazing!! Thank you for watching!
Good morning my friend
,I encourage me
.And I will come back to you often
.
Thanks for visiting my channel! :)
Must have took a thousand years to wear that Ground out
Probably. Waterfalls have such history. :)
Unfortunately, three people have recently drown while swimming around the falls. It is not at all safe to play in the water. Stay away.
Swimming in the water is definitely not recommended! This is a double waterfall with an extremely swift current no matter where near the falls you decide to go. I heard about the drowning too, a very tragic story. :(
Hi friend great sharing lovely uploading superb I'm join you dear sty bless dear keep in touch :)
They are beautiful waterfalls! Thanks so much for watching! :)
Saw your Siffleur Falls video and now this. I am confused now if I should go Crescent Falls or Siffleur especially if I am doing a day trip, driving from Edmonton.
Siffleur Falls definitely has the better hike, with some incredible views and the hike actually takes some time. Crescent Falls is hardly even a hike, just a quick stroll away from the parking lot, but the falls are more picturesque in my opinion. So I guess it depends on what kind of experience you are looking for. Siffleur is a further drive away than Crescent as well, so keep that in mind. And have fun!!!
Thank you for watching. We were lost when we went and it was frustrated.
It can be hard to find - the GPS doesn't exactly steer you in the right direction. I'm happy to help and be careful around the falls! :)
@@DowntheWrabbitHole yes it is. We end up going to Banff. but now we know where it is.
You kids always have those backpacks on. So I have to ask, what is in them. Lunch? Water?
Sweaters, a water bottle, a couple little snacks, and then room to store toys, books, play dough, rocks, and whatever they decide is crucial for a hike in nature. LOL
At what time u reached there? U didn’t get parking that’s why asking. We have to come from Edmonton
We got there around 11 a.m. I did learn afterwards that there is an overflow parking lot just up the road - we drove past it but it said "Horse Riding Staging Area" and I thought it was reserved for horse riding groups. It is not - you can park there if the lower parking is full! :) Have a wonderful visit!
Bighorn Alberta actually
You are right. It is just west of Nordegg, in the Bighorn Valley Canyon. Thanks for the correction! :)
@@DowntheWrabbitHole i miss living in bighorn now i live in rocky. And also i made a song Beast on crescent falls
Which part of Abraham Lake is this? Thanks.
I'm not sure the official name for this section of the lake, but last summer they were building a parking lot alongside the road where we had parked when I filmed this. You should be able to find it quickly if you look for the newest parking pad! :) I hope that helps!
@@DowntheWrabbitHole Thanks for the response.
