John Bloodborne: “every blood has its borne”
DUDE, SPOILERS!!!
Jesus Christ that's Jason Bloodborne!
I think you mean John "'Dark' Elden-borne", but his friends call him 'Kiro'
Cornball
I’d say BOTH cleric beast and papa gascoine are bloodborne’s tutorial bosses, the cleric beast being a tutorial boss for well, beast bosses and gascoine for human bosses.
Gascoigne is for both tho
@@vitaliitomas8121 true. But it's like 85 percent human. So I guess you could make the argument for both lol
I don’t think that’s much of a tutorial. I do believe the Gascoigne is certainly a tutorial for proper fighting and skill fullness, but I think Cleric Beast just sort of sets the tone for what you’re fighting.
This is something that took me so long to figure out. It was my first souls game. And I did pretty alright against father shotgun. (Mostly just panicked my way through phase two)
But just kept getting beat down by those first two werewolves and cleric beast. I hadn't yet put together that two types of fights mindset. After I figured that out on Amelia I went back and stomped it.
Bloodborne fans explaining why the squid ending is peak (I know the lore of why it's the good ending but it's still really goofy that you just turn into a squid)
I wouldn't call it "The good" ending because well what about it is actually good? It's more like a sacrifice ending in my opinion
@@roozbehlashgari-ig7yo you ascend from human to a great one, a godly being. In the achievement description it says that you're raising up humanity. Plus you ended the hunter's dream
@@ArlecchinoAKAFather yes but what dose that do for the people of yahrnam? The scourge of the beast still continues and the infected blood is steal out there.
Essentially what you achieve with the squid ending is to proving Lawrence right
@@ArlecchinoAKAFather
I don't think you do it's just that you don't allow anyone else enter the dream anymore
@@geraldyeager7652 the hunters dream means the workshop. Like how hunting Mergot ends the nightmare of mensis
The only redeeming quality of the One Reborn is that the arena is a callback to the Tower Knight from Demon's Souls.
And just like the Tower Knight, ranged builds get to laugh as they go directly for the weak point.
And the OST is dope as hell. The design is dope, too. Everything is great except the actual fight.
@@Budd631 I agree, I've always loved gnarly designs in these games, The One Reborn, Demon of song, godrick (especially considering his lore), etc. And yeah ost kicks ass too
You missed the hardest boss in the game, AKA the crow of Cainhurst
Bro killed me more times than orphan lmao
Rules of Nature as a tutorial boss theme slaps the hardest of any game
I’ve heard it now, it does go pretty hard
@chadofastora we can agree on both songs and bosses are goated
Fun fact about the witches of Hemwick. If you have 0 insight then they can't summon those specters to attack you. It's like they're trying to harm you with eldrich horrors and you're too dumb to understand why you should be afraid 😅
omg no way hahaha. I spent all my insight before entering that fight not knowing what's to come and I was SO confused
Me when I see horrors beyond my comprehension (I don’t get it)
Really? I usually spent my insight but I must've had some cuz those shadow dudes got me my first time. I got them on my 2nd time, though. I beat freaking Horseface on my first try but died to the Witches once lol.
@@CLL21you gain insight upon first encountering the boss fight, and if you have at least 1 insight, the Mad Ones spawn. So, trigger the fight and either use a bold hunter’s mark or just exit the game and it will place you outside the fog wall. Then, go spend all your insight and return. What’s funny is you get insight upon killing the witches too, so sometimes you will see a Mad One spawn in right at the end of the fight and then immediately disappear.
@@vVincent. but just entering the fight for the first time gives you insight
It wasn't directly stated in this video, but every time I see people talk about bosses in this game they say Micolash is a speedrun killer because his running pattern seems random. He's not. He will ALWAYS run directly away from you to the next crossroads unless you spend too long chasing him, then he just goes to where you need to go.
He always starts in the same position. Literally just run behind him until he stops at the door, then turn around and circle around so toure staring at him directly with the door in front of you. It takes like 30 seconds
Yeah, from what I’ve seen it’s always consistent
Doesn't change the fact that he won't stop moaning like a spazoid
ROM IS THE HOTTEST BOSS IN VIDEO GAME HISTORY AND DON'T EVEN BOTHER TRYING TO CONVINCE ME THAT ITS LOGARIUS, BECAUSE HE IS 2ND HOTTEST CLEARLY

that ludwig boss music really is the greatest track in the entire souls catalogue - gives me chills literally every time.
re: longer videos, i personally like to watch your stuff while i'm working on artwork or other things, so i'd love more long videos!
Thanks for the feedback
Seconded
Def love the longer videos an yes I agree Ludwig’s ost has me screaming alongside every time I fight him. Love Melenias ost tho shes my sec fav.
Such an overrated track it’s just the exact same sequence over and over, The buildup is the only good part.
@iamMildlyUpsetWithMostOfYouTub HUH? bro yur off the goop.
I've always been a bit lower on Bloodborne than a lot of From Soft fans are, but even I tend to agree that Ludwig is one of the greatest things the company has ever created. Even just from a presentation standpoint, I can't think of many other Soulsborne bosses with a transition as perfect as Accursed to Holy Blade. Just the way the soundtrack comes back to life and goes from a discordant nightmare to something with structure and drive again. It's perfect.
I think for me, my issue with bloodborne's bosses comes from my preference for knight or human style enemies, which Bloodborne doesn't have many of (that are good, glares at Micolash). Discounting the DLC, which I adore, I can't think of many bosses in the basegame that I actually look forward to fighting, at least compared to some of From's other games.
Fair takes
Bloodborne isnt like other souls games BC of that and I agree, I was tryna get an Armor for drip but Theres only those leather fits with ropes and other trinkets. Not really médiéval to say the least, and that I think is the only thing I dont like in bloudbourne other than that the game is S tier must play
In my opinion, Blood-starved Beast is the "boys-to-men" fight of Bloodborne. I had only played Dark Souls 1 and 2 by the time I started on Bloodborne, and BSB was the fight that made me realize "Okay, this is not Dark Souls, I need to start throwing hands."
Basically, it made me realize that Bloodborne's playstyle is WAY more aggressive than Dark Souls. And it has a special place in my heart for that.
"I need to throw hands" is exactly the mentality I have against Orphan of Kos and it's the reason why he's easy to me. He's a fair boss that rewards aggression
When you work so hard that the amygdala is about to die, the amygdala jumps and kills you with one hit 💔
Can we just agree that love or hate him Ludwig is the BEST way to acquire the moonlight greatsword. I mean a dope bossfight and a genuine struggle and especially that its being used by the boss. Its really cool and receoving it from him always feels earned.
23:00 For a tutorial boss with awesome music I recommend "Metal Gear Ray" from "Metal Gear Rising Revengance". "Rules of Nature" is an amazing track that I have in my normal day-to-day playlist. It may go for another mood with than the Bloodborne tracks, but it's an amazing piece of metal music. It's less of the "Oh fuck, I'm screwed" type of banger OST and more of the "FUCK YEAH" type
Someone else also commented this, I’ve heard it now and tis a banger
i havent played bloodborne in many many years but my lord i remember the thrill of killing kos for the first time
I personally think that Amelia getting the Cleric Beast Soundtrack and Laurence getting the Cleric Beast Look just makes a lot of sense. Why? Because that's what they are. Cleric Beasts. Lore states that the clerics became the most hideous beasts, Amelia was the current vicar, becoming a female version of the Cleric Beast, while Laurence was the first vicar and founder of the Healing Church, becoming the probably first Cleric Beast, and gaining his fire powers in the Hunter's Nightmare either because he either...
a) ...was burned to death after becoming a beast.
or
b) ...suffers for the burning of Old Yharnam he ordered.
I gotta say, after playing through the DLC I 100% agree with your number 1, I mean the music, boss and arena design, moveset and lore of John Bloodborne are so compelling I ended up playing through the whole game again in NG+ just to fight him again! Great video Chad!
Please make longer videos, you've become on of my favorite Souls creators and every vid by you is a joy to watch
I very truly don’t get the hate for Laurence. If any “reskin” feels satisfying in one of these games, it’s this! To have a more hectic and hellish “first draft” version of a cleric beast and to find out that THIS is what became of Laurence not fearing the old blood is great! And to have a beast shrouded in fire is such a cool subversion. And also, it feels like the perfect equilibrium between fun and challenging. To also do it in that same spot as the current Vicar is just so GOOD! I’m about to fight him again on my third playthrough and I’m stoked tbh
Orphan going apeshit and beating you up with a placenta while screeching is exactly what it feels like every month XD
I actually have beaten Ebrietas, Daughter of Chaos on my first try. Somehow i did not expect a boss fight at that moment, but more something like a covenant like in Dark souls. I went to her backleft and just started smacking her with the saw cleaver. Somehow that ruthless aggression worked out.
Liked and Subscribed.
I always forget Micolash has second phase because you can snipe him with poisoned knifes from above.
Also it's sad he doesn't appear in bloodborne board game
You can sort of loop Gascoigne by using the transformed hunters axe with the r2 power attack, it knocks him down, as he’s standing up you regain stamina, hard r2 again, rinse and repeat, can get him down to 35-20% before he transforms doing this. I found this out on accident.
Call this cope but, I think the moon presence being easy was the whole point of the fight, you're nearly a god now, and this being that's meant to be the strongest thing in the game barely stands a chance against you, the scary music doesn't represent how YOU feel, it represents how SHE feels, she even fights as if she's scared of you, leaping back after every few attacks. This fight is meant to be just a realization of how strong you've become.
Yep. Before all those umbilical cords, the game doesn't even let you try her.
It hurts to see Living Failures so low. They may not be the most difficult, but the meteor strike move paired with the music is so heavy, and being directly before Maria is the best 1-2 punch in all of Soulsborne. It's top 5 for me tbh. Just pure cosmic brilliance
the most fair gank fight too
Honestly fav boss in Bloodborne right before Father Gascoigne
It is super awesome that you get to fight them right before Maria and the lore from the Research Hall, the Failures, Maria, and then the Fishing Hamlet is beautiful and terribly depressing too.
To me somehow they were one of hardest fights in all my playithroughs. Hell i died to them more than to Maria and Ludwig combined
I beat Ludwig on my first try but died to the Living Failures like 3x lol.
One thing i wish you meentioned in the amygdala fight is not only the music but the fucking AWESOME roar he does for second phase. It sounds like some kind of demonic train. I dont know what it is but i LOVE IT
You make the best rankings, thank you for keeping them 100 my brother
Awesome video. My personal favourit bloodborn boss is Maria but Ludwig is close second. Love your content.
I figured out a semi consistant way to dodge Ebrietas charge attack. Remove lock on and roll twice to her side when she is just about to hit you
I legit cheered seeing Vicar Amelia so far up. I wasn’t expecting that lol I love her fight and design so much
Great vid bro, i really appreciate seeing everyones different views on these guys!
Orphan is my favorite Bloodborne fight. Always a good duel one you have his moves down.
What sets Bloodborne’s bosses apart from those in DS 1-3 and Elden Ring is pacing and flow of combat, which has always felt more engaging and fun to master for me. The ability to chain combos and transformation attacks in tandem with mobility and gunplay just hits different on all the right notes. Combined with its unsettling yet beautiful themes and aesthetic choices, it will always be my favorite game
I understood the hate for Laurence before Orphan of Kos and then after beating Orphan I went back and loved Laurence. His fight and lore are both incredible.
Ooh! Another small content creator to add to my collection. Love you guys, you’re always so invested.
Rom the Vaccuous Spider is by far the most frustrating for me every time.
This video got me back into bloodborne again, just fought the gank trio and I have to say your tip for being up close to that one guy really saved me hours 👌
Massively appreciate seeing bloodborne content in 2024 ❤
Fun Fact: If you fight the Witches with no insight, they can’t summon any mad ones, making the boss even more trivial.
I know I'm 2 months late but the Living Failures OST don't belong to them but instead a cut chalice boss, that's why it's so good
One thing you didn't mention that I believe is a plus for Gherman is that he's one of the only hunter vs hunter fights in the base game besides Gascan. Given that gasgoin is so fun for being a hunter fight it feels so nice to have one more at the end of the game
Awesome content really , you deserve way more veiws , and I also agree with nearly everything said in the ranking
I think this is the first time I agree with every single position in a From SW boss ranking! Well put man!
Really hope your getting what u deserve for all this gr8 content. Watched a lot of ur vids a few months back, haven’t seen one in a while tho had to come back for this one. Hope u doing well an keep doing better !
Vicar amelia is no doubt my favorite boss. It’s just so damn satisfying to stagger her by attacking the limbs. Incredible
I just flamesprayed vicar Amelia to death in my first play through and holy moly moon presence squeezy I’ve never defeated a boss so easily before 💀💀 (thank you fightingcowboy 💀💀)
always happy to see another vicar amelia enjoyer
Great video man! Just some feedback from a random viewer, but in my opinion longer videos are the way to go if you want to talk more about a specific topic. I really enjoyed seeing your full opinions about each boss (even if I disagreed on some), given they all have specific strengths and weaknesses which make them unique.
I make sure to always have some sort of ranged attack. This removes the waiting time for many bosses. And yes, str builds can have ranged attacks.
Lady Maria had the best music soundtrack in my opinion, but I agree that Orphan of Kos is just wild af and absolutely relentless
Using ranged builds to absolutely destroy amygdala's head is very satisfying
Indeed
You can dodge the wet nurses nightmare phase thing it's really satisfying.
Chad of astora posted 😭🙏
You know, i just thought about this, cleric beast and Laurence are like asylum demon and demon firesage.
I believe Laurence being a Cleric Beast reskin was a deliberate move for lore purposes. I could have sworn I read that high ranking members of the Church would turn into variations of the Cleric Beast when they're too far gone. IE: I'd argue Vicar Amelia is a variation of the Cleric Beast with her design. There's visual similarities between them.
Fair enough. I’ve always thought that it lines up decently well, but I still think it was a matter of them running out of time and not being able to give him his own unique design
@@chadofastora true. Vicar Amelia was very distinct despite having visual similarities to the Cleric beast - speaking of that, it’s also why I suspect Vicar Amelia shares the same boss music as the cleric beast- she’s a cleric beast type. If she had more of a distinct role directly effecting the plot like Laurence does, maybe she’d have her own boss fight theme?
ehh just cause it makes sense in the lore doesn't make it good or excusable. blood vials are also part of the lore but players dread having to farm them whenever they run out.
i hate when from software ruin a boss by making repeats / reskins of them. it just ruins the mystique.
@@richurro20 i can accept it if there's some clear evidence it was a lore based decision, and there is. It's not like this is a GoW 2018 situation with the Giants and the...oh gosh, I think they're called ancients? The giants especially, they were obvious reskins. A gacha game I played, Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia also did blatant reskins.
love your long form content man. please make more such videos on elden ring
To respond to your comment about the tutorial boss having a soundtrack that slaps as hard if not harder than Cleric Beast’s:
Metal Gear Ray from Metal Gear Rising. You know the song.
I’ve never gotten that One Reborn vomit attack before.
I feel like Gehrman fight is a souped up version of the Gwin fight.
I think Moon Presence isn't meant to be an ACTUAL boss, it's what's called a "post-final boss" where it's more or less just a playable cutscene.
The One Reborn has a moveset? I just whack it until it explodes. My first play through, I didn’t even kill the Chime Maidens because I didn’t even notice them. Didn’t realize till after the fight that there was an upper level.
Metal Gear Rising Revengance has the best tutorial boss that I saw along with the amazing soundtrack.
Moon presence boss is a joke I think. By the time I was facing moon presence I was very low on blood vails and I actually wanted to die because I wanted to explore more and didn't want to start a NG+ yet. And by the time moon presence was at 60-70% health. I literally had 0 blood vails and was at 70% health. So I thought "Let's atleast try to learn his attack patterns since I can't kill him when he has so much health and I don't". So I was dodging and attacking him and I was not checking his healthbar(which is my mistake). And after that I saw him die and I was like "It must be a joke like HOW THE F*UCK CAN IT DIE SO EASILY " when it's the last boss and now I have to start NG+ when there is still something I want to do in some areas.
I actually like fighting the celestials because they are kinda cute and have a generic zombie/alien walk with their arms out in front of them 😂
The boss: *Is called Living Failures.
Also the boss: *Summons outer space itself in the arena and rains down meteors.

That Ludwig theme sent shivers down to my spine. Such a good shit, man.
The points I disagree:
1) the one reborn is pretty underwhelming but surely he's not the worst one, I'd say the witches are way worse;
2) I hate Amygdala because of the camera and erratic movements during 3rd phase;
3) living failures are definitely the worst of the DLC but they're still pretty good, definitely not below the average;
4) I still think Maria is overrated (but still cool af);
5) Gherman's wind attack is bs and in general his moves are too fast and too similar;
6) mergo's wet nurse is one the best bosses in the game.
That's it 😅
You had me until you said point 6. Mergo’s Wet Nurse is hot garbage
@@duelz9366 maybe not one of the best, but still alright imo 😁
@@Cathart1c to be fair I would say it’s pretty good at best

Edit 2: also all joking aside I’m so happy to see ma boi Laurence get some love
Hole=goal
I have no idea why nobody ever talks about how afful the One Reborn's runback is
It is a little long, but never stood out to me ig
@@chadofastora dodging the projectiles of the enemies in a strait line is brutal
Because who dies to The One Reborn?
While it can be bad, the runback can be made easier simply by having that one side-door shortcut available (that way the hunter trio does not lock on to you). Now, if people were talking about the Laurence runback - that is probably the most cursed runback in the game (along with Logarius)
I'm about to fight Gehrman, and I just realized all the bosses don't play the Cleric Beast theme
Great video
Thanks
For the tutorial boss having an insane OST, I would add Xenoblade Chronicles 3
There were even memes with "wtf the tutorial boss has a final boss track?"
The bad ones are kinda like DS2, the good ones are kinda like DS3, and then Ludwig really stands alone as Truly Bloodborne
Ludwig deserves to be number one just based on the soundtrack. Im smitten by it
When I first fought Micolash I had no idea what I was doing and basically made him run around the whole time while slashing after him. He never entered the second phase. I was confused. 😭
Not even gonna lie, I gauge my trust on a reviewer based on their elaboration of the Micolash fight. Great video.
Mickolash owes me a controller.
I completely spaced out and I thought he was gonna rank Micholash at number 1, then I looked and saw the goat instead lol
Do you have any plans on what you want to upload post- rankings content? You can only rank so many things till you are out and unless you want to do like "Rock review in the Lands Between" or "Top 10 chairs in Drangleic" I'm wondering what ambitions you have after these. I love your opinions on things and your approach and ability to point out flaws in things and don't pretend they are 10/10.
Funny enough, I decided to try and cool it on rankings after this vid. In the (long) long term I plan to talk about tons of different games, and right now my main goal is trying to cook some good video ideas that aren’t ranking based, though there will definitely still be some
Lady maria is all flash no substance, her phases look more impressive each time, but mechanically they are not really any different. Consequence of having too much NPC player fight DNA. I don't even parry, I just roll behind her slashes every phase and it never stops working. Incomparable to Oprhan and especially Ludwig.
Since I'm doing criticism, I'll put fourth my own unpopular opinion - Ludwig's phase 1 is much harder and more intense than his second phase which is far easier.
I agree Ludwig phase 2 kinda easy
I'm only soulslike viewer, but Laurence design is just too cool. So that is my top 1 choice
That's just the Cleric Beast after all the molotovs I threw at it.
Darkbeast Paarl having projectiles with it's claw swipes in it's second phase kind of reminds me of Roxas in Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix lmao, in his second phase all his attacks gain light beams that go outwards
playing bloodborne for the first time the boss songs carry me to the win (mentally)
felt that in Sekiro, replaying it after a very, very long while and From always lets the composer(s) cook up banger after banger
sad I can't replay BB until emulation go brr (went from ps to pc,) but at least the music's long been uploaded
I really hope we get Bloodborne 2 (or a spiritual sequal) or Sekiro 2 (again or a spiritual sequal.) Trick weapons have much more potential than they ever bothered with.
Ebrietas was quite literally a nightmare for me during our first scrap, but I admit I brought the Axe to something strong against Blunt. Took me about 20 or so attempts. Her charge is kinda crap, but once you see her tell - tilting her "head" and punching the ground with her tentacle arm thing - it becomes somewhat easier to deal with. Somewhat. Lol.
i have yet to finish bloodborne (i still have lady maria, orphan of Kos and lawrence to kill, plus moon presence) but i never understood why amelia was hated in the community
i played the whole game with the cane, and fought most of the boss being underlevelled, but she was not that hard? i don't know
but still, great video, and even if he's not my fav, ludwig is, i dare to say, a beast 🤣🤣
6:56 I always wondered where skumnuts sub sound came from lol
I would say there's one additional flaw to Ebrietas, and it's not any particular move, it's more her overall design from a technical standpoint: this boss literally has to *let you hit her*. Because she's so tall, you can't really hit her weak point unless she graciously slams her head into the ground, which she really has no practical reason to do. And this attack not only puts her weak point on your height, but it's also the only move in her toolkit that can be safely punished every time. Most of her other moves come out so quickly and have so little cooldown that you pretty much get to keep dodging, and H O P E that she's in a nice enough mood to lower her head for you. Good luck seeing her do that in her final phase.
Great video chad ps can you rank the soulsborne world's on dangerous there are
I might do something like that
I just wish they would've made the humanoid/hunter bosses harder to parry. Maria is a cakewalk after your first playthrough once you realize you can just parry chain her to death in every phase lol
Jokes on you. I've beaten Bloodborne 8 times and never once have I parried 😅 you are right though, she's simple if you can parry
Bloodbornes strongest enemy is its camera and huge ass boss that blocks ur camera and doesnt let u heal or see their move
Better tutorial boss music... My brother in Gwyn, you know what Metal Gear Rising is, yeah? Rules of Nature slaps so hard, the vocals kicking in still sets off my fight instincts a decade later.
I currently have not yet played it, but I looked it up and that shit does indeed go hard
I’m glad I’m not the only one who loves Vicar Amelia
Orphan is God tier level gaming. This game is like a hand crafted sculpture of perfection.
Is it bad I had more trouble with the celestial emissary than with ebrietas? 😭
Bro you got me wheezing at that child losing their Skibidi toilet privileges that was funny 🤣
This might just be me but the defiled chalice amygdala while I was going for the platinum took me literally a combined 6 hours. I literally hate fighting that boss despite thinking that it's as cool as it is (I literally have a poster of it in my room)
I like listening to Steve Buscemi talk about Dark Souls
