The Rtings review is one of the reasons I am planning on upgrading to this TV. It excels higher than more expensive TVs in so many areas at once including HDR PQ EOTF tracking, HDR color gradiant handling, HDR color volume, HDR color gamut, color accuracy, and sustained full-screen SDR and HDR brightness. Being that it doesn't use mini LED backlighting, I'm not sure of its black level performance. But being that it has a VA panel no matter what size you choose, I think of the slightly elevated black levels on VA panels the same way I think of the slight hiss on good analog audio recordings.
You'd be surprised. The TV offers two black level sliders. Black adjust (3 tiers, all which can easily crush blacks) and then Black Level (almost acts like gamma correction but in smaller steps) and though Ratings suggest black level 50, at 45-46 it really does help the elevated black levels without losing too much detail. Also the Smooth Gradation feature especially in darker content helps with image clarity by a lot, just never go past High. That will incur intest soap opera effect/motion smoothing. Low is enough. Also not touched on in the video but it has 20gb of built storage, which is double of the X93L. Helpful for side loading apps on the TV directly.
The 85 inch size is where this TV shines. Right now it can be had for only $2000 - that's $1500 less than the X93L at the same size. You'll get 90% of the performance for only 57% of the cost. This is especially true If you plan to use this in a basement or other dark room where you have lighting control. My Samsung Q70R died last year (quite unexpectedly) and I had to replace it with the X90K, which was also $2000 and I still love it. This newer X90L is better and would be at the top of my list if I had to do it again. Mini-LED and OLED TVS are undoubtedly superior, but in the largest size they can cost almost (or more than) twice the X90L ... but they are not twice as good.
Hey, I have seen X90L X93L multiple times in 2 diff stores. They are NOT 90% of X93L. MORE of 70% they have a “Hybrid ips feel” by having mushing in person visual, there is a SANDY visual to it. U can even see from FARAWAY from this video. Since i am watching this video on my 65” tv. N it has mate ish finish. It has Blooming n less peak highlights. The Hisens U7K looks more like Sony X93L in Person, a U7K 65” (even UNCALIBRATED) in store beside X90L was So much plesant to the eye side they were beside one another. It was shocked. Cuz Hisense U7K looked just Better(more 3D, more crisp, more vibrant, no blooming, no mush….. , Than X90L looked Visually worse, but D U7K were MUCH cheaper than X90L. It’s very strange to notice it. Cuz u look at tv then look at Price tag u feel like it should be reverse.
@@birdtj82 Honestly, I don't look much at the Hisense TVs. It's just not a brand that I trust. Many online reviewers have pointed out time and again the lack luster upscaling and motion processing on Hisense TVs. Just looking at the TV image in the store is also not something I spend a lot of time doing. Lighting in stores NEVER matches the lighting in my home. Finally, I don't know what you mean by "3D" .. none of these tv's output an image compatible with 3D glasses. Unless you have some super power to see 3D details in a 2D image. From my experience, even images in OLED TVs still look flat to me.
I just bought the 75x90l and love it so far. I researched for a solid month. Watched a few videos comparing this to the U8k and still thought the Sony looked better. I got it for $1499 so the price was right for me.
I got to demo the U8K and QM8 alongside the X90L... They are not even in the same league. RTINGS talks about the dissapointing viewing angles of the X90L but both the flagship offerings from TCL and HiSense are much worse. Sony's XR processing IMHO pretty much untouchable right now.
@@ShortHandedNow I agree with you. I was worried about the viewing angles, but it isn’t as bad as RTINGS said it was. The Hisense looked brighter but that was it. It looked washed out at times. Quality of image wasn’t as good as the x90l either. I’m very happy with my decision.
Just bought the 85" X90cl for the extra warranty and backlit remote and am very happy. Just by comparing to the other TVs at Costco this was about the closest thing to an oled and was just way brighter than the other options. You could obviously tell that the oleds are a step above but I am putting in a very bright room and am blown away by the quality
Yeah, I also saw it at Costco next to the S90C. I expected the S90C to demolish it but the x90l was clearly brighter and had more color volume in the demos they used. The S90C had different reds (better) I guess but it was hard to pick the S90C except from an angle where the S90C ruled supreme and looked twice as good from acute angles. This TV with 300 dimming zones and the x93’s angles would be perfect. Once you looked at the price and the fact that the X90L has a clearer picture, it’s really tough. Subtitles might be the tiebreaker in favor of the S90C. I was watching a video of the X95K and X95L next to a A90J and A95K - that TV is practically an Oled without the brightness issues. Every reviewer owns the 85 inch X95L which says it all.
One major missing part of your reviews is comparing longevity between tvs. It’s great to say a Hisense is better than a Sony but in 6 years I cannot see that Hisense outperforming any 6 year old Sony.
Good point! While it isn't a main component of our reviews themselves, we do have an ongoing longevity test that might be of interest for you! www.rtings.com/tv/tests/longevity-test
Disagree with your review, it's an amazing TV with no problems at all for reflections, watching in bright room is great, the TV panel is so bright that watching in bright room is not at all a problem.
What e hell man. I have seen at Bestbuy beside X93L it’s Washed OUT . I understand if it’s STANDING along its good tv. So ppl here are NOT bashing it. It’s AGAINST OTHER GOOD n BETTER TV then u notice it. So i dont blame u for NOT seeign it but if u hav seen TCL Qm8 or Hisense U8K u will think this is mushy stuff. 3:00 matte screen. It has blooming just odd .
No way I’m buying a budget brand when the Sony is only $200 more (at the moment) and has Sony’s decades of elite level electronics behind it. Sony has never let me down, but budget brands have - not to mention two Samsung TVs that started going bad within two years of buying. Now if the Hisense was $500 less, then I’d have to think about it.
@@romang6437 I own the X90L, and having paid more attention to what kind of TVs friends, and family have during Thanksgiving they all looked good enough to me even though they were all low end. I think you will be happy with the U7K if I'm being realistic.
Went from X90H to 90K, really happy with the series, L seems no exception. One tip if you're only using it for gaming and Apps like me: enable "Apps-only mode" under Settings > Accounts > [your account]. This cleans up the Home Screen. Btw if you're gaming on consoles, the input lag between most TVs really won't make much difference because most of the input lag (70-90ms) comes from forced vsync that both Xbox and PS use. You can't get rid of it.
@@DDHDTV My dad wanted to upgrade so I gave him my 55 90H when I got a great offer for a used 65 90K, otherwise I would've been sticking with it for a couple more years. Also now that I got a PS5 it's nice to not have to decide between VRR and Local Dimming
My only thing I don’t like on this is the is the HDMI connection. Why did they put the eArc and the 4K 120 in one HDMI? If you have 2 console you are screwed..
There are two features in Sony TV's that are worth mentioning: 1) It natively supports the apple protocols allowing screen mirroring from Apple devices. This is a great feature for sharing photos quickly from your apple phone, ipad or Mac 2) It also natively supports Chromecast as well. As you point out the Costco version has the backlit remote, it comes with a 5 year warranty, and of course their excellent return policy and support.
I bought this in 65 inches, with the settings, and with the colors adjusted it looks way better than out of the box settings. It's an ok place holder till Sony gives us better options in 5yrs. I don't really think people can go wrong with any TV if they plan on replacing it later on but the upscaling convinced me to stick to buying Sonys although originally I was a U8K fan, and I still think the U8K looks nice. It all just depends on what sacrifices you're willing to live with because they all lack something.
I don't know when I'm actually getting it. You said they all lack something and you have to pick your poison. I agree. The only area I think might be slightly subpar is black levels. This model uses a VA panel no matter what size you choose. I think of the slightly elevated black levels on VA panels the same way I think of that slight hiss on good analog audio recordings. After all I put into researching $2,000 85-inch displays this year, I hope I'll be able to afford it soon. If not, I should be ready by the summer of 2024 for their successors.
@@chriskelly1740 I have a QHD OLED monitor right under this tv, and the black levels don't bother me as much as I thought it would because the X90L's blacks in movies/shows...etc get blacker than it's own black bars. The only thing that bothers me with this TV is blooming when it is too big not to notice but for the most part it's not something that happens often. Also changing the "black adjust" helps with blacks allot but I would advise to set it to low because "medium", and "high" will sometimes replace small areas that are green to black but with it set to "high" the blacks get allot better so it's a double edged sword. Changing the other "black level" setting from 50 to 45-46 made it look better to me too. If you can wait till next year you should because this tv is ok at best to me since I'm use to OLED. I was going to wait too but seen this tv on a flash sale for a price I was originally going to buy the U8K for (@1099.99$) and I thought it was low enough for me to take a gamble on. I don't really regret my purchase given the fact that I'm mostly using it for console gaming but if I didn't have an OLED to watch content on I would go for a mini-led just because I dislike babying my OLED.
Managed to get a 55 inch X90L for 900€. Saved 1000€. Wanted to get Sony's new XR processing and its amazing, as is the color and brightness. Can't have this on maximum or it hurts my eyes lol. Has some blooming but the dimming does a great work. Amazing to see movies in dolby vision. Regarding google tv, i see no adds at all. All you have is the standard thumbnails showcasing what you are seeing and recomended other content from the apps you have installed. No automatic playing big thumbnails like the tyzen from Samsung or other tvs. At least here in Europe.
@@PcGamingForFun I don't use it for gaming. Regarding ghosting i really can't say i notice it . The only 2 downsizes i can point out is the sound that isnt nothing spectacular, needs a bit more base and the few dimming zones, although the algorithm does a good job using those zones. Have it since last year and had no issues whatsoever.
I recently looked at the x90l and tcl qm8. Even without the mini led the sony did look more realistic in color, amazing contrast. However i wished i could compare them more. What do yall think and is the sony probably going to last longer? Hisense u8k looked great too😅
3:00 Matte finish. It’s NOT so obvious becaue ppl are waiting to see the BRIHT content. Any time u have ppl over, kids over, lights on, day time …u watch dark content u get that MUSH…..i saw it in store.
If you want the TV with the best brightness, good motion, and punchy colors get the QM8, If you want the TV with the best viewing angles get the U8K @75 inches since it comes with ADS PRO panel @ that size, and up, the U8K's upscaling is better than the QM8 at any size as well as having good blacks too. If you want theTV with the best upscaling, good motion, best PQ EOTF tracking get the X90L. You can't go wrong either way since they all lack something. (The X90L has a semi-gloss finish btw as i own it, and a OLED monitor with a real matte finish. I don't get why this lady above me is making up random lies 😂)

Picked up a 75 inch X90L two weeks ago on sale in Australia for equivalent of US$1350. Australia does not get the TCL QM8 (C845 instead) and the Hisense U8K appears to be a slightly different inferior model here, either way both were approx US$150-$200 more expensive than the Sony at the time. Happy with the price as the majority of Australian consumer electronics are usually more expensive than the US/EU; more expensive than a simple currency conversion anyway.
@@nikokoko81 My reply keeps disappearing???? Very briefly this time, Sony Australia online store with the "welcome" 10% discount voucher for new members. The X90L was on sale for 2 days across the normal suspects (JB HN GG etc) and the Sony store.
This is quite popular television and I think you guys should re-review it, not do a full breakdown again but maybe a re-review just to see if you guys have the same opinion after maybe the TV has been out for the 2024 season and if it's gotten any updates worth mentioning?
Ive owned this TV for two weeks and though I like it a lot, still might exchange due to an issue. The TV occasionally will boot up with a green screen on the last used tv input (cable box, or even built in streaming apps) and pressing home or menu and going in and out of the input mode doesnt fix it. It's similar to when a power cable is loose but this case its not. The only fix is by restarting the tv using the system menu. I'm using 8K ultra hdmi cables (amazon basics brand) as well double chrcked the HDMI mode (Standard/Enhanced/Dolby Vision) and it happens no matter which one. Other users have seen similar things on all Sony models per the last GoogleTV update. Have you seen any issues like this? Good review by the way.
@@daniellaframboise1746 well I haven't exchanged the TV yet but I did do a factory restart. Had to make sure I took note of my previous apps and the display settings for every input/video. I haven't had issues since. What helped the most was making the HDMI port the cable box is connected to be at Standard format. Also when it asks do you want to set up your cable box at the initial set up I said no. I can live with a TV remote for the TV and one other remote for the cable box. There haven't been any new software updates yet. But it's been fine for now. Try it and see if it helps you.
Most people don't realize that the most important feature that sets Sony's above all other brands, even Samsung, is simply the Upscalling ability. Upscalling can make or break a TV.
They will NOT. SONY is known for having VREY good flagship for show, so ppl attach SONY as HIGH Quality . So they will flood to buy their x90L x93L thinking it’s close to it. SONY dose not want ppl to buy the flagship because the lower tiers will NOT move . The 55” will make x95L too affordable that ppl will save up for 55” end up NOT upgrade in 2-3 yrs like they would have if they buy X90L x93L. Yeah that was told by BUSINESS PROFESSOR using SONY TV as example. It was d -strangest thing to hear. :”Sony does NOT want ppl buy flagship. They sue Flagship to SELL tier down for 2X price than Market value. But U will half like it, but if u dont like it u willl MAKE fun of yourself for NOT paying more instead of thinking the BRAND is over changing something for average product”. Imageine iPhone Mareket their 15pro for $3000 n most ppl end up buying the 15 (none pro) for $1200 lol that’s SONY TV does :) 😮 I was blinking my eyes cuz i was a SONY snob back then lol , it’s like d WILDEST thing EVER hearing it. 😂
U better look for Hisense U8N in 2024 or TCL Qm8. Those things are going to be like 1000 local dimming for 55” n INCKY black with high View engine. I am waiting for that one in 75” or 85” :)
X90L has -MATTE finish tv. Which is very dated. 90% of online influncers dont tell u that, cuz its a cheaper entry level that tv are prob best selling especially FULL time influncers , they get kick back, they r NOT going to tell u that. Only Stop d FOMO mentioned it ealier this year. And I saw in store, it looked like spider web coated Frost. In online videos, they put it in black room boost brightness, u do NOT see nothing. Any time day time, or u have any lights on this is what u get. A -matte screen- not glossy screen in 2023?😊
I was deciding between non-OLED Samsungs and even budget VIZIO/Hisense/TCL sets but ended up getting a Sony UHD TV that's 2 years older than this one. Thank you, Rtings!
Ultimately, the best TV for you will depend on your individual needs and preferences. If you're happy with your Sony TV, then that's great! But don't rule out other brands without giving them a fair try.

Though I always consider 50 inch TV is apt size for 4K, it can go up to 65 inch for a medium size living room. Any thing above 65 inch should be 8K for nice viewing experience.
@@Ksass23do you seriously use TV to watch tv broadcasts?)) how about Amazon prime and Netflix? Also have you heard anything about upscale technologies in which Sony is the best?
93L is a carryover model from last year and doesn't have the new processor, wouldn't spend money on it. X95L is much better for the price, but if you can't fit 85" then get the X90L or one of the Sony OLEDs
As with all TVs, it boils down to what is your intended usage, necessary viewing angle, and budget. Glad to see in your 'Verdict' section you point out when the U8K is better, and when the X90L is better. Currently (11/17/2023) the Sony is only $100 more in the 65" size. If you need a wide viewing angle, neither of these will work for you.
Sony x90L has Bluetooth version 4.2 only, comparing other tv models with lowest price like Hisense u7k; u8k, Samsung q80c these are 5.2 version. Does it really matters?

Can we turn on the DolbyVision tag when we read dv content ? The xf9005 did (we could choose to display it or not) but i cannot find the option on googletv
The only thing that’s gonna give you true Dolby Vision is a 4K Blu-ray. Streaming services like to lie to people and claim they have Dolby vision and 4K but it’s really not because it’s severely compressed down too 8m to 12m, a 4K Blu-ray is going to give you 128m to 140m.

Does it actually suppoert 4k120? No like x90h where vertical resulution was lowered? Also, can it handle VRR properly or it turns off local dimming and enhanec contrast like X90H? I am sick of misleading advertisment from sony, yearly releasing the same product with minor changes and abandoning previos released products without fixing it and delivering what was advertised.
Yeah dude I TOOK BUSINESS SCHOOL. In 2nd yr marketing Level 2 after 1yr marketing completed. The Inernational Marketing/tier / upselling……d Business Professor used 2 Example to Completely dissect n pick apart for “predetorial /manipulative/ monopoly behavior” guess what are d 2 Brands---SONY TV, BMW. SONY n BMW were 2 TV ompanies in order to HOLD market share, they PRODUCE MUCH inferior PRODUCTS< using Flagship to present pristege but DOUBLE price UPSELL their entry level. Ppl buy it, when they did NOT like it enough, instead of SEEING that they are being scammed, they BLAME themselves NOT paying MORE money to buy the HIGHER TIER . So when they go back to store, they are Aiming to get UPGRADE double price n double paying the 5yr service plan. In fact even tho they PROMOTE SONY flagship A95L X95L SO Much, 95% ppl buy tier downs, n end up hating it 3 yrs in n having to do EARLY UPGRADE n pay 2X price again than the Compition like Samsung QN90C , Hisnsense U8K U7K. I saw HIsens U7K glossy bright, 120hz VA, 1100nit peak, in store beside SONY X90L mate screen mushy, washed out color, it was so strange. That the U7K(not even flagship) looked 2X price level image of X90L, then i look at price tag the x90L is 2X price of U7K . lol. It’s crazy. Cuz X90L has noticable Blooming, mate screen, more washed out color and just doesn’t look expensive . U better get X93L or just look somewhere else :):) my honest opinion i have seen so many times in person. Last year ppl were boasting x95K, omg it was ok. But under wheming beside Samsung S95B n HIsense U8H. But ppl echo chamber believing it.
Sorry i didnt elaborate. For tv especially SoNY n BMW CAR etc. they strictly make sure that each year d mid range upgrade is very “MINOR” the big upgrades are happening on the flagship. N they make sure the BMW X3 4 5 yr later still similar to X3 3 5 yr earlier. If they make SONY X90L look too much of X93L will effect the sale of X93L, cause x95L not selling good , then 3 yr later NO ONE is UPGRADEing like u are doing. Cuz the image holds too well that they’d wait for 2 more years. So they MAKE SURE the upgrade is minor if in same tier. If remaining with SONY, def need to UP d budget like $700 to get OUT of tier (even just 1 tier up). Or seek diff brand. Cuz they are OVER priced . N Also they ONLY make X95L in 85” , n they make X95L look so good to out do everyone else n most ppl cant get it. Yeah I WAS d --SONY SNOB at time when our business school professor telling us this.its d STRANGEST thing when we were told” SONY look like they Make money over flagships, NO they MAKE MONEY over ppl with MUCH smaller budget, they want to squeeze your pocket over n over again every 3 yrs. Ppl buy Flagship dont upgrade till 5-6 yr later . “ u JUST validated our professor’s convince .
I bought this TV, and it handles "VRR" just fine. I was able to use it on my PS4 via the "HDMI 2.1" ports too. "Local dimming" is still set to "High", and you're still able to adjust it. However "Adv. contrast enhancer", and "Black adjust" is disabled in game mode but you can still get good contrast, and blacks by going to picture settings, and lowering "Black levels", and "Gamma". (Oh, and btw the X90L is a semi-gloss display not matte.🤣)
You have good eyesight or pay attention to detail, I didn't notice till I read your comment. Certainly a X95L, although easy enough to mix up if you didn't read the model number as the only (connections) difference between the X90L vs X95L is the headphone output (below the optical port), on the X90L (on the Aussie X90L anyway). Cheers.
I have had two 55” X90Ks and it has been bad on both. My most recent one after a year got worse. Looking to exchange it at Costco (it is under warranty) for this one if they fixed the whine

The question here is should I reduce it to 65 inches to buy the 65X95L, is it worth it (75x90L vs 65X95L)? And does the black screen corner phenomenon still occur on the X95L? My room does not have direct sunlight and does not have too many bright lights white, just yellow lights, picture lights. The content I mainly watch is soccer and TV channels, sometimes I watch a little Netflix
The dark corners is referred to as vignetting. Everyone I have seen has it. I returned two X90L 85 inch due to this and other DSE issues. Outside of that it's a very good TV.

The choice of my upgrade is fall between Sony X90L vs LG C3 OLED because the price of these TV almost similiar. I am very confusing to decide, Sony is the king of Image processing . But LG OLED picture quality is mesmerizing. But I dont know LG C3 upscaling capability compare to Sony XR processor. Which one should I pick, Sony X90L or LG C3?

I was still on 65x90e until i let a packed ikea package fall against it yesterday... Wanted to upgrade this year anyways but was going to wait. Ordered a 75x90l now and hope it will be a worthy upgrade.
Should I Get this X90L or a LG QNED80 both are 65 inch. Just wondering which is best ? Both are around same price now. I do have a toddler which someone pointed out that the Sony panels kind of flicker when hit a bit where the lg doesn't. Any info helps!!
Here's a summary of the key points to consider: Durability: LG QNED80 has a more durable panel, minimizing flicker risk from accidental touches. Sound Quality: LG QNED80 offers enhanced sound quality, ideal for engaging young viewers. Picture Quality: Sony X90L slightly outperforms in picture quality, but the difference may not outweigh the durability and sound advantages of the LG QNED80.

Sony is stuck in the past. While everyone else has moved to mini LED lights, Sony's "mini LED" offering barely has a similar number of zones to full array offerings from other brands.
They have been like that for decades. I business school our business professor -spend ENTIRE class explain SONY TV business model in North America n globally. They are MOSTLY Advertising . It’s like like BMW CARS. They are good but NOT as elite as we are told. Ps SONY TV n BMW CARS were both d only 2 things Marketing professor ripped apart for False orientation. The 1% ppl buy flagship has nothing to do with their Tier downs that 99% ppl buy that keep upgrading. Its d tier downs keep SONY on the Gravy train cuz with false advertising they can get ppl to pay 2X price keep buying every 3 yrs for “upgrading” when they make X95L. @@yashwanths5152not OP, but from Rtings: "TVs are among the most reliable consumer electronics on the market. Whereas most people change their phones or tablets every two to three years, it's common for people to hold on to their TVs for 5-10 years or more. But how reliable are TVs in general? What about burn-in; is it still an issue? We're hoping to be able to answer these questions and more over the next few years as we run these 100 TVs through our accelerated longevity test." That said, if money is no object and you don't mind buying a new TV when LG OLED fails (sooner?), then go for the OLED for better picture quality. For relialbility, Sony is anecdotally bettee, IMO.

@@johnb4905 This is interesting, as some testers stated that Sony didn't provide number of zones, but they counted...some 8x8, some 8x10...anyway...all more than predecessor X90K
@@user-bf6go9nf6g the 75 inches has 95 zones, i just got mine and waiting for delivery on February 12th, i cant wait, it took me almost 4 months to pull the trigger, after doing lots of researches of led, mini led, oled, it was crazy how many times i changed my mind, you have no idea, i watched all the reviews in all the brands available, their ups and downs because none of them are perfect LOL, but finally, the x90l in 75 inches was the one for me, although it isn't perfect, like having some blooming in dark scenes but besides that it has all i wanted and needed, I'm going to use it to watch CZcams, Netflix, amazon and Disney in a dark room LOL, you asked just for the dimming zones, and i gave u a litany. greetings from Guadalajara Mexico
I find it a hard pill to swallow to pay more for a non mini-led with pathitically low zone count and obvious blooming in difficult scenes vs mini-leds from Hisense and TCL even with the better processing. Id say Hisense processing for streamed content got good enough in 2023. Their smooth gradient setting works well enough that the other hardware benifits of hisense become more important.
Stop The Fomo has proven in comparison videos that it's not that big of an issue as people make it out to be zone count wise. Upscaling wise In a comparison video Brian's Tech Therapy did he showed the X90L's upscaling capabilities vs. U8K, and it made the U8K look hazy in comparison. As for blooming from my own exp. I only ever see it once in a blue a moon otherwise it looks normal, and the blacks are good enough. The only time it isn't is when it's a black star field which is something that rarely happens. The X90L also has the better motion over the U8K as well as better PQ EOTF tracking which you can seen in RTING's test results. Either way you're giving up something. Just pick which features you want the most in your TV.
I have loved the topic of screens since the early 1990s (i.e. back in the era of convex CRTs). Thank you very much for your work! Best Regards, Your Fan 👍😀

It looks TERRIBLE in this video, but didn’t look nearly as bad when I viewed at my Best Buy at the 85” size. This tv checks all my boxes with the exception of reflection handling for my bright room
@@johnm202 Exactly, and the X95L doesn't come in 65 inches in the US. therefore I think they may be mistaken. Unless RTINGS does TV's outside of the US. too? But yea they're saying that in this comment section somewhere. and even if they did TVs outside of the US. I don't see the power cord being in the same place for the X95L in pictures. supposedly the model number says it's an 85 X95L @ !:45.
WRONG!!!! HDR 10+ is an open FREE standard just like regular HDR10🤦♂️🤦♂️😅 Sony just chooses not to support it as they have Dolby Vision. "HDR10+ is an alternative to Dolby Vision, which also uses dynamic metadata. HDR10+ is the default variant of dynamic metadata as part of the HDMI 2.1 standard" "The technology is standardized and defined in SMPTE ST 2094-40. HDR10+ is an open standard"
Only complaint about it: Awful “soap opera effect” and to many “bells and whistles” almost to the point that you have to go to the college and get a master in video and even use expensive and sophisticated tools to calibrate properly the tv 🤦♂️
I would definitely go for the QM8 over the X90L. Sony just doesnt put enough oomph into the X90 series in a long time. Equivalent Hisense and TCL tvs have much better contrast.
Glad our reviews could help!
VA panel will allow for inky blacks much like the x85k.
Good call on 85inched for 2k. That's good for a Sony, a value
I believe the X93L also does not have the new XR Clear processor. I’d definitely go the cheaper X90L route.
My thoughts exactly!

Happy for you with your purchase! Hope you keep loving it 😄
Ditto. I got the X80CJ two years ago and couldn't be happier.
Have a friend with an OLED and he asked me the other way if mine was OLED too while looking at it and was surprised to find out its not. X950H
How is the reflection handling in your bright room @lifeofoz8782? It looks horrendous in this video
The Hisense or TCL TVs are what you put in guest rooms that don't get used often
Disagree with your review, it's an amazing TV with no problems at all for reflections, watching in bright room is great, the TV panel is so bright that watching in bright room is not at all a problem.

75 inch hisense u7k is $899 and 75 inch sony x90l is $1499. Can't decide which one to go with. Hisense is $600 cheaper right now
@@romang6437 I own the X90L, and having paid more attention to what kind of TVs friends, and family have during Thanksgiving they all looked good enough to me even though they were all low end.

My only thing I don’t like on this is the is the HDMI connection. Why did they put the eArc and the 4K 120 in one HDMI? If you have 2 console you are screwed..
The X90 series is getting meaningful upgrade every year. Best bang for the buck mid range TV.
I purchased the 85” inch it’s awesome I love it
There are two features in Sony TV's that are worth mentioning:
1) It natively supports the apple protocols allowing screen mirroring from Apple devices. This is a great feature for sharing photos quickly from your apple phone, ipad or Mac
2) It also natively supports Chromecast as well.

Love my sony beavia xr90 I bought like in 2020. It's fire super nice quality I'll be sticking with another one when it's time
Ive owned this TV for two weeks and though I like it a lot, still might exchange due to an issue.

I would certainly consider the X93L or X95L if they came in 55" flavours.

There is a size to distance calculator for 4k tvs on Rtings homepage ... you may check that out first ;-) ... btw 8k is entirely useless !
Nothing really broadcast
in 8k in US.
No 8k in the states this year, just Japan…they have two broadcast stations in 8k.
@@Ksass23do you seriously use TV to watch tv broadcasts?)) how about Amazon prime and Netflix? Also have you heard anything about upscale technologies in which Sony is the best?
I agree with you. 65” is for 4K anything larger should have more ppi.
I'm hoping my wife allows us to jump up to the 93L.
93L is a carryover model from last year and doesn't have the new processor, wouldn't spend money on it. X95L is much better for the price, but if you can't fit 85" then get the X90L or one of the Sony OLEDs
In my country we don’t even have x93 or x95, and the a95l is only available in big size
What would be considered wide viewing angle? I'm trying to figure what the extreme would be on a 85" at 10-11' back.
Sony x90L has Bluetooth version 4.2 only, comparing other tv models with lowest price like Hisense u7k; u8k, Samsung q80c these are 5.2 version. Does it really matters?
I think it only matters if you're using bluetooth for expensive speakers like the LD Systems Maui P900.

At 1:45 minutes the back of the TV showing is a 85 inch X95L? Is this the correct review
Cheers.
Here in the US. the X95L doesn't come in 65 inches. Only in 85 inches therefore it is the X90L.

Is 85" X95L for $4000 the best bang for the buck out there for HDR 4K movie watching?
The 77" S90C for 2k ish or probably 85" U8K are the best bang for buck when it comes to watching quality sources like 4k uhd. Personally I'd rather have the 85 X95L than either of those 2 but it does cost twice as much sooo.

There is some blooming on this tv but it does not bother me at all and the 4 dark corners of the screen has not happened on my 75 inch x90l.
The dark corners is referred to as vignetting. Everyone I have seen has it. I returned two X90L 85 inch due to this and other DSE issues. Outside of that it's a very good TV.

"The technology is standardized and defined in SMPTE ST 2094-40. HDR10+ is an open standard"
No K no L...my X90J still rock's ✌🏻
It has the better contrast over the X90L therefore you should be happy about that too!
Only complaint about it:
Awful “soap opera effect” and to many “bells and whistles” almost to the point that you have to go to the college and get a master in video and even use expensive and sophisticated tools to calibrate properly the tv 🤦♂️
Our website has our recommended settings to change! www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x90l-x90cl/settings
I would definitely go for the QM8 over the X90L. Sony just doesnt put enough oomph into the X90 series in a long time. Equivalent Hisense and TCL tvs have much better contrast.
One is a entry midrange TV as well as FLAD while the other two are flagships as well as being MIni-LEDs. I wouldn't consider them "Equivalent".
@@asole100 people compare them because they are in the same price range. Though the X90L is in a series below the other two.
@@FURognar I never asked why people compare them all I'm saying is that they aren't equivalent.
