    When my 72" 2008 Mitsubishi DLP TV unit finally bit the dust and I could no longer fix it (yes, it's been crap for a decade), I bought the X90L. I decided 6 years ago I was going was going with a Sony because of the processor. It was only a matter of when. It wasn't a money problem. I'm just cheap. I've could easily afford the X93L, but I was sure that when I got it home, I would be hard pressed to remember the difference. I really like the 85" X90L and am happy with my choice. Bigger is better for now. Especially when it comes to Sony with far less judder, smearing, motion blur issues than a lot of its competition in the price range! We all mostly watch streaming services and a super expensive TV won't fix the compression much. Until then just get the x90L mid level and go as big as you can. It's immersion is amazing and you'll get used to the flaws which are honestly minimal at this point besides the issues I mentioned streaming. Also you could have some cash left over to get one of the many impressive sound bar surround systems. Atmos all day!

    Of these I tested the X90L and X93L thoroughly. Yes, the X93L is a better TV, it’s got better color depth and picture depth, but it is NOT $1,000 better. Having gone with my first OLED this year in the S90C, there’s no way any LCD LED TV is worth the same as a QD OLED at the same price. But, for $1,500 you get the 75 inch, $2,000 for the 85 inch of the X90L, and those are good prices. But when you can get the 77 inch S90C and 75 inch X93L for both $2,500, the S90C even for $2,000 and under from Samsung direct, I don’t see any value in the X93L at that price. If the X93L were like $2,000 for the 75 inch it could be competitive, but for the prices they’re asking it’s kind of ridiculous. The X90L is 80-90% as good, it just lacks the color pop in movies and a little bit of the more OLED like depth/blacks.

    • @vybo8921
      @vybo8921 Před 9 měsíci +1

      The last sentence shows me why I want the X93 and why it is a premium. The 93L has better color pop, better blacks, is brighter (a little) and the mini led will look better in dark viewing. The only thing I may not like on the 93 is the reflection reduction causes the rainbow smear.

    • @weezyslob
      @weezyslob Před 9 měsíci

      @@vybo8921I mean, yes, the rainbow smear was pretty bad, it was very distracting with the lights we have in our living room, I had to turn them off. I stand by what I said though, the X93L is not $1,000 better than the X90L, and after using an OLED I’m not sure any LCL LED tv is worth $2,000, $2,500, etc. The Samsung S90C blows both of these TVs away, in color, depth, lack of blooming. The only thing I could say for the X93L over the S90C is it’s brighter overall, but it still lacks that 3D depth that I’ve learned now that only really OLED gives. And this is coming from a Sony fan that had been burned by Samsung in the past and thought I wouldn’t go back, but hey the best picture is the best picture, movies, sports and gaming on the S90C are outstanding.
      But yes if you’re LCD or nothing, the X93L is good, but I’d wait for clearance in the spring, or even for the X93M if they bring it out and it has the XR Clear. What Sony is asking for a rebadged X95K without all the latest features is a bit much IMO, and it’s pretty well known too that the 65 and 75 inch models are inferior panels to the 85 inch, so keep that in mind.

    Regarding x90L, seen other reviews that state that game mode causes the tv to scale back most of the local dimming and other image algorithms resulting in v.average picture quality, especially in HDR. Apparently enabling VRR on top then makes the picture worse. Did you notice that in your gaming tests? I haven't seen it mentioned in most reviews so wondering how much of an issue it really is.

    • @asole100
      @asole100 Před 9 měsíci +2

      Looks the same to me with VRR on or off also local dimming still says high , and let's me adjust with VRR on or off. If you want to add more depth lower the black levels to your preference. In game mode the only thing that is disabled is "motion blur reduction", and other motion settings when VRR is on. In some games "Reality Creation" makes a huge difference once you have adjusted it manually . I even made my own color settings to make this TV way more vibrant for gaming too which makes the out of the box settings look washed out in comparison.

    I'm in the UK and Sony offer the X95L at 65" (currently £1899) and 75" in addition to the 85". For the price it's very tempting vs the LG G3 (£2200) and Philips 908 (£2500). It's a bit lacking on the gaming front though, which I don't really understand.

    • @techsamurai11
      @techsamurai11 Před 10 měsíci +1

      The X95L is better at gaming - the G3 loses brightness unless you use non-game mode with ALLM. TechKG has videos showing the G3's brightness dimming.
      So many reviewers bought the 85 inch X95L for their main room. The 85-inch may have a different panel than the 65-inch but Vincent Teoh reviewed the 65 inch X95L and it tracked the reference Sony monitor better than anything else and in the comparison with the G3 it looked great except for some blooming with subtitles but I couldn't tell if that was over-exposure from the camera lens as the X95L's blacks are the highest measured for a non-OLED at 200,000. In all videos I've seen of it, it's near impossible to detect blooming unless they change the camera.
      Also if you have any ambient light, the X95L instantly becomes an OLED becomes with almost any light, IPS panels with a contrast of 1,000 have perfect blacks. I have put side-by-side so many OLED vs LED phones and you can't tell the OLED with any light.
      It's only in small highlights that the OLED will look brighter but in large highlights the opposite will happen.

    • @trevhib
      @trevhib Před 10 měsíci

      @@techsamurai11 Like I said the X95L is tempting, it's certainly the best non-OLED TV available to consumers currently but it's not a one-way street. There's no Dolby Vision game mode and only DV gaming at 60hz if you disable VRR, it's limited to 2 x 2.1 HDMI ports and from what I understand, it doesn't have the full suite of game bar controls that is present on the A95L. Input lag is double that of the G3 and it affords far narrower viewing angles. Also, in TV reviews we've seen mini-led TVs limit brightness to control blooming leaving them less bright than OLEDs in many scenes. So it's a matter of priorities for folk and I'm personally still mulling it all over.

You mentioned people streaming if you’re a streamer you might as well just buy the cheapest TV possible because you’re not getting good picture or sound quality to begin with so you might as well stick to like the cheap $200 TVs.
