This is the most populous city, and the capital, of a country that will soon have more people than anywhere else on Earth. Home to more than 31 million residents, it’s a chaotic place with a complicated history. It has major problems in housing, inequality, and transportation. But if it can solve them, its residents will experience an enormous increase in prosperity. As India’s seat of power, what happens here impacts a billion people and reverberates around the world. This is Delhi: a fulcrum of the 21st century.
The only megacity in the western United States has an ideal climate and a history of development based - uniquely - on vehicle mobility. There is no place quite like it on Earth. A powerful trendsetter, this diverse, beautiful city is one of the most recognizable on the planet. Arguably the most influential and successful urban area of the 1900s, its population grew from 100,000 to more than 15 million in just over a century. But this amazing boom favored some much more than others and has required a re-engineering of the natural environment on a scale previously unseen in human history. This is Los Angeles, California’s megacity.
Shanghai, the most populous city in the People’s Republic of China, rises on the low-lying swamplands where the tributaries and lakes of the Yangtze River Delta meet the East China Sea, and the vast Pacific Ocean beyond.

Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, recently became the most populous in sub-Saharan Africa. It has some of the most bountiful and sought-after natural resources on the planet, many of which remain untapped by its enterprising and industrious workforce. Yet, despite being faced with some of the most challenging conditions in the history of civilization, it remains a land of enormous potential.

Note: Sources vary on the most recent population statistics for Kinshasa and Lagos, leading to some confusion about which is larger. We used data from Wikipedia as the basis for ranking Kinshasa in first place; however, some sources still identify Lagos as larger. As of 2022, both cities are in the midst of rapid growth and are vying for the title of most populous city in Africa.

Mistake here - Shanghai (and China's) labour force is now majority (by far) employed by the tertiary/ services sector, not manufacturing and in factories, which have largely been robotised or outsourced to SE Asia. This change happened in 2011, over a decade ago -the idea that China is a factory-dominated economy and labour force is pretty outdated.

Delhi episode talked more about India and its story since independence rather than the city , its people and good and challenging things. And GDP per capita of India is not less than Nigeria's. India's GDP per capita is $ 2466 and Nigeria's is $ 2356 . And difference is much more when considering cost of living . You didn't talk about Mohalla Clinics - a free healthcare program that has inspired healthcare delivery in other countries, project to clean Yamuna river, development of well planned satellite cities of Noida and Greater Noida, regional rapid transport project, Vision 2030 of the city , existence of a cosmopolitan population from Afganis to Tibetians to Nigerians.

Nah Chinese Govt never really said that . They just said their fertility rate dropper massively in 2020 due to COVID that's all( Originally UN put 1.72 but later Chinese Government declared it as 1.24 in 2020) .
Also while overcounting of population happens in China, undercounting happens too at a similar or probably even larger scale
      www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwj7y_zrnL37AhXnUGwGHa2PDoMQFnoECBIQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.scmp.com%2Fnews%2Fpeople-culture%2Fsocial-welfare%2Farticle%2F3171267%2Fchina-population-officials-punished-after&usg=AOvVaw3UAWeNehMg9leuVxKMS45_
Like this for example . 15 kids and none of them were even registered in total population census.
Like this similarly there are millions of many other cases in China .
Just check the CIA factbook data for Chinese population . It's around 1.4 billion only even according to their proxies and calculations.
