Surrounded by farms sounds like my hometown Orillia. Which is mostly a retirement town now, surrounded by farmland. These z's are always a work in progress, I'm dropping my transmission to do the rear main seal. Lots of work, lots of banging my hands up, lots of new words the neighbor's kids learned lol
Orillia Ontario? And from my checking out your channel before you moved to Georgia somewhere? Big move
Good to see you back, happy you are doing well. I was off Ig for a while but now finishing up the G35
Good luck.
Welcome back !
Hey champ, yeah I’d like to see a how to regarding the front splitter 🙏
Waiting for this vid
You need a voltex rear diffuser for that OEM rear bumper. it's incredibly effective - just it is a little hard to source
Great to see some progress on your car been following it for a few years now. I've Been doing autocross for the first time this summer in my 370z. So far for mods I have 200TW tires all around on on staggered set up 18x9.5+15 & 18x10.5+15, koni struts with swift springs, hotchkis front sway, fia fixed bucket seat, and bolt-ons and a tune. Aside from seat time what should I be looking into to bettering my car or myself going into the off season? I've been thinking of doing some weight reduction like taking the spare and such out as I still like to daily the car in the summer months however I already deal with a lot of NVH so additional noise and vibration wont be a huge bother as I also have a solid diff bushing to install over the winter lol. What do you recommend?
Weight reduction is always the best mod, as long as you don’t go past the point of no return. I’d say keep the car at a point you can go back to stock if you need to.
Love watching the build series and all of your amazing racing. I have a g37s coupe and want to make it into a pretty solid street/track car. What would you think the top 3 negatives are about this chassis when it comes to how the car actually FEELS? I have a general knowledge of suspension and engine reliability but want to know what’s the best plan of action. Thank you!
Same as a 350Z only worse. It’s straight line a little faster but overall weight will hamper transitions. It’s front heavy rear wheel drive. So over loading the front tires and inducing understeer will be easy. Getting traction out of corners will be more difficult.
@@2THPWR how to fix or cope with that ??
@@g35tho11 mostly just proper suspension set up focusing on nice and soft on the rear. A wing really helps with overall grip and balance
Would you anticipate 18x10.5 285/30 or /35/r18 +15 square setup to fit or would a roll be needed. On koni yellows and swift spec r springs. 03 350z
Likely roll a bit. But I ran that with no problems all the time.
I know u know a good amount on the VQ and I was wondering what’s to many miles to buy a DE 350z at and how many did your car have before you built the engine bc I’ve seen some get to like 250k miles and some haven’t. is there a big gap between the rev up and normal DE life span? I’m looking at one rn that has 184k on a non rev up and it’s at a good price for what they are going for in the market right now and I would like to keep the motor that’s in it for a while I know it just depends on how they treated the car but I’m not really sure on what kind of mileage I should be looking for.
Tough call. I built nine at about 80000 km. It’s really dependent on how it’s been used and how it’s been maintained. Look for smoke at start up. Maybe pull the spark plugs and look for oil on the top side of them. That’s maybe the main cause of detonation and failure.
@@2THPWR ok thank you I forgot you aren’t in the states so when u seen 180k at first u where probably like “damn” lol but I appreciate it I’m still trying to find an okay looking one for less than 5,500 dollars I’ll definitely do the oil trick when I go look at one.
Question I want build a Vq37vhr from ground up with an automatic transmission with long gears. Here is just a few things I'm trying to do to the motor skyline r35 gtr intake manifold, cammed, pistons, rings, rods, diesel turbo kit, gtr injectors and etc. How much would all of this cost and how much power would I be throwing out? Thanks
Google the price of the parts and if you need an installer ask them how many hours it would take to put together. I’m guessing 20K USD 😂
@@2THPWR is it worth though?
@@popclutch_100 for what? Something could always be worth it to someone and not to someone else. I’d never try, but based on what you are trying to achieve it could be perfect.
@@2THPWR thanks I want put it actually in my truck... 😏
@@2THPWR but what I actually want convert the front end to all way drive as well with an r32 front end subframe..
A friend of mine tracks his 350z and has been having issues with glazing rotors on the Brembos. Car is also a street car but he doesn't want dedicated track pads, you think there is a viable dual purpose pad for the Brembos or should he be looking at bigger calipers/rotors?
80 % of the time the driver is a brake pedal dragger who can’t admit it to themselves that they are always slowly applying the brake and keeping the pads in contact with the rotor for too long. It also could be a partially seized calipers. A pad that can take more heat with shorter sessions could help. I found a track pad to be one of the best changes you could make and swapping pads on the brembos is easy.
@@2THPWR I don't think he is dragging the pedal, he used EBC yellow, blue, some kinda Raybestos pads and now he's on sintered pads. He doesn't want to change pads which is the best practice IMO.
He's also on stock springs which I believe isn't helping 🤔.
@@crimsonsw21 I’ve never had glazing, even on the non-brembo calipers. How long are the sessions? Brake cooling ducts could be added but I don’t have them. Cheapest way to investigate and save the most money is to place an “action camera” where it can see the pedals. How long is that foot hovering near the brake pedal into corners? Harmless to check if footwork has never been analyzed.
@@crimsonsw21 if it helps I have always used Carbotech or G-Loc brake pads. There may be some intermediate pad level that is dual duty that he may find some luck with.
@@2THPWR cool, thanks.
Whats the compression on new pistons? Still ported stock heads with c10?
12.5:1 and yes
@@2THPWR looking back... do you regret not going with hr heads? If you could would you? Or are the ported heads sufficient?
@@jayfella1973 at this point I don't think there is too much difference.
Question about the weight distribution of 350zs. Ive heard you as well as other racers mention the nose-heavy nature of the z. is there not a way to correct it? I hear it talked about as a problem you just have to deal with as opposed to a problem you have to fix if that makes any sense.
No way to really correct it. Most of the easiest weight comes off the back of the car. You could put a dry carbon hood and fenders and an ultra light battery in and then run a rear wing to help balance it with aero but you will never overcome the extra 200+ lbs on the front axle. You’d essentially be running the car heavier then it needs to be in order to have a better weight distribution which is an even bigger detriment.
@@2THPWR assuming that money is no factor, do you think an engine swap would solve the distribution issue? For instance swapping to a smaller, lighter motor (some sort of turbo 4 cylinder ie: sr20 or even f22) I’m sure at the very least it would help, but I’m wondering to what degree you think it would. Sorry for the random hypothetical question 😭
@@calvinfall5631 a K swap would help and it’s been debated for my car in the past
@@2THPWR very cool. Any specific reason you haven’t done it so far? Motor swaps do seem like a pretty big commitment.
@@calvinfall5631 most just sentimental reasons and this is one of the highest hp NA VQ35DE’s out there. So I saw it as a shame to throw it out even if the car would be faster with a turbo K series
how much does it cost to track a car competitively like this?
The least I ever spent on a season was about $4000 Canadian Dollars. That is just tires, brakes, brake fluid, oil, gasoline, transportation to the track and back, and track admission fees. It’s hard to quantify maintenance and depreciation costs. So figure the cheapest it can be done if you enter all of the events is around $5000 a year. If you don’t want to be competitive and just do 1 or 2 events it can be a lot cheaper. I think the most I had spent previously was about $15000 a year. This series with the rebuild will be a new record though when it’s done.
Those same assholes destroyed mine. Yrc freight. They didn’t want to replace mine had to take the L on it
Yeah, because I had video of the delivery and video of the unpacking they admitted liability. They just haven’t paid me yet. Total incompetence as an organization.
@@2THPWR I didn’t and they refused, luckily I found one a couple weeks later and got it for free with another purchase
Where’s the drink, the drink isn’t working.
I literally had a cut away of Kimi saying that in my vid that I edited out because I didn’t want the copyright infringement 😂
@@2THPWR put it up on Ig 😂
@@Top-G35 maybe. That dude carrying the destroyed box is real video. “Our driver did not declare a distressed package”. Well my video of him carrying a destroyed box does.
